I like your post and the way you brought it to the table for a civil discussion. Very well written and put IMO.
I am still a Cal fan and don't want his to leave just yet but your points are very much true.
Cal needs to look in the mirror and start with the man he is looking at and start with change there first.
No way around it change needs to happen moving forward. Now what that change is going to be is still undetermined.

This post is on target. That's why I've been saying we need a change for 3 years now. It's not about our record this year and it's definitely not about starting lineups.
My fear was always that we'd get used to mediocrity and it's happening. Sure, we're not used to a losing record, but I think we've become much more used to not dominating like we did in the past. I remember being extremely disappointed and upset when we'd have an 8 seed and maybe not make it out of the Sweet 16. These days, that's almost becoming the norm.
Coach Cal either needs to make one of the most dramatic changes in history and start recruiting and building with a focus on UK's success and coaching to win every game and every situation or he needs to go. We simply cannot rely on pretty good freshman who have to survive with very little coaching. Players first needs to be thrown out the window and repeatedly backed over.

I was listening to a local sports radio program in Owensboro, and he summed it up well, in the past Cal has had enough talent to overcome his crappy antiquated offense and still score, this season there is not enough one on one talent to overcome this antiquated crappy offense Cal runs. And the only reason the won a title in 2012 was they had a team that bought in to doing what ever it took to win.
Right? I don’t understand (and yes, I’m an alumni twice over) how a season like this ruins the lives of all these folks who are on this board. It is a bad year. We have young kids trying to get in the groove of CBB. It really isn’t a big deal. It really isn’t a BIG deal. The likelihood of this type of season repeating over the next 10 years is less than a 10% chance.
Bad years are a RARE thing at this place. And despite popular belief that Cal has been nose-diving this program, I still haven’t gotten the season by season breakdown to prove that Cal was on a downward swing for the last six years. It might actually hurt narratives. Who knows? Honestly, I don’t care. Lol
Anyway, I digress. Some of you need to take a break from screaming at the wall that says nothing back, go hug your love ones, thank God every day that you’re alive during this pandemic, and come back to support a team that needs your support and less of your gripe. We are all stressed, we are all edgy because of trying to beat Covid, and we need more support than we need to be a-holes.

Just to be fair the last NCAA tournament we reach the elite eight. Last season we won the league by three games and we’re position for a nice run in the tournament. It’s not been as bad as you claim. I agree this season Has been a nightmare. No doubt about it.
Keep harping on what Cal did in his UK hay day and ignoring the fact that he’ll never sniff those types of results again under the program’s current structure.

You’ve admitted several times you’re a Cal fan first. You stand up for him despite results for other reasons. Dumb reasons. Beta male reasons.
With that being the case, can you please explain what Cals offense has been this year? Specifically I mean. What offensive schemes and sets stand out to you? What Offense did he run last year or overall?
I can tell you what no other coach in my lifetime had, and that is a LOSING RECORD. Cal has set a lot of record, but the wrong kind. First Coach at UK to take a knee. We have the tail wagging the dog. The man will do anything to recruit, and that has been proven in the past, with wins taken away from him at two different schools. I know, like all coaches, he's innocent.

Excellent point....this program has been in a downward spiral for 5 years with little hope of a rebound under Cal.
Then don't create a situation where you are hanging your season's success on winning the NCAA tournament. When you build a team with the presumption that we will suck badly in November, get stomped embarrassingly Duke, lose to teams like Evansville in December, lose 6 or 7 SEC games in January, but by March we will be good. Well if that's your design then you can't lose to UNC by a jumper at the end because what else have you accomplished.
This is Kentucky. It's not Notre Dame basketball. You really want to be prepared to start the season in November. Sucking until March is not how you coach here.
And we didn't really have a shot last year. That team could be good at times but it had it's share of head case games as well. It was just a question of which round would we have one. That team did not have the look of a championship team though.
It was a down year last year. I thought we had as much talent as anyone and was excited to see Maxey and Quickley go off in the tourney

Not saying it is you but there are people who do not leave this board...all they do is moan about the misery all day. I would say it is ruining their life.
Last year's team had a great chance at final 4. Guards determine the tournament majority of the time. We had a solid guard group
I was referring to him saying they put bad teams in our bracket.
