I have become desensitized about uniforms ever since we abandoned the purple and white for black or some other funky color that UA requires a half dozen times a year.

So you make that post about a throwback that’s extremely heavy on traditional purple and white?

I've asked before. What year(s) or era are the throwbacks from? They don't ring a bell and I've been attending NU games since the mid 50's.

The gloves are dumb. So 5 years ago.

I have a lot of jerseys and while I have no objection to the team wearing them, I won't get one. I have enough issues with people having no idea who we are. The other day I had on an NU polo at a restaurant and the girl asked what high school I coached.

I don’t think it’s intended to be a specific year, but rather a kind of amalgamation of throwback items for the 150 year anniversary.

So we're having a "Throwback Uniform" to a uni that the Wildcats never actually wore? While it somewhat resembles the uniforms from the John Pont era (early-mid 70s) I personally regard this as era of NU Football that I'd just rather forget. What uniforms did we have under Coach Alex Agase in the late 60s and early 70s? I've always thought that Agase's teams always received far too little credit, and had the idiotic Big Ten rules about limiting Bowl participation to the Rose Bowl (and nothing else), NU should have gotten far more recognition in that period than we ever received. (Remember that we were one of the last teams to beat Ohio State before the Dark Ages, causing Woody Hayes to throw one of the heavy sidelines telephones at one of his own players and to berate his own team.) Not surprisingly, I loved it.

These uniforms do not resemble what was worn in Pont era...helmets close but the N and U are not interlocked....forgettable, nonetheless

Late 60's: white helmets with jersey number in purple, purple jerseys with white numbers and white pants with black shoes. Very traditional. I could throw back to that but lose the numbers on the helmet and make it a purple N.

Best reveal ever! 50 years?!?! God bless!

That. That right there is why you do throwbacks, plus a typically-similar reaction from recruits.

PS — amongst his many hobbies, Hank is a collector of legitimate antique college football equipment. I have no doubt that that helmet and cleats were from his personal collection.

I can already hear the cries of protest from Nebraska.
Terrible, just terrible. For every good thing NU does, it seems they do two things to counter that. There is such a profound lack of knowledge of good design in NU's Administration, it is unbelievable. It is amazing that Taj Fitz got built as it is, but that was not without significant prodding. Every now and then something good slips through. Hard to believe in a city where there is so much good design talent. Throwback is BS.

Anddddd I think we’ve stumbled on a generational divide.

Players seem to approve, so that works for me.

I find these much better than some of the other CaCa that has been thrown out there in recent years.

Contrarian much?

Throwbacks and other uniform hi-jinx are primarily for the team and recruits. You can see the team’s reaction in the video. Recruits’ reaction will be similar.

Read much. I am agreeing with the comment that they are for the team and they seem to like them. You might of skipped over that part.

What I disagreed with was your perception of a generational divide. Pretty sure I am not in the same generation as you, but I can’t be sure as I have never had the pleasure to meet you. You have something similar to a Captain Daniel Gregg persona around here, so I could be wrong. I think we both might actually agree to like these despite our potential generational divide.

An Edward Mulhare reference? You’ve stumbled on the single pre-1990s actor of whom I’m mildly aware on account of my grandparents if that helps you dial things in at all.

Taj Fitz doesn't exist, it's the Fake by the Lake.

Not sure if hi-jinx was meant to be ironic or is a coincidence, but, yes, there is a high degree of jinx when we wear special uniforms (as opposed to high jinks)
