outside renderings are disappointing. it does look like something built on livingston in the 70's or the Busch Library. insider renderings look amazing. Hopefully the actual is better than the renderings. they've got to get this right.

Video? To a practice facility? Why would that even matter?

Akin to what the Prudential Center has. We can play highlights on game day and start to ramp up fan excitement before entering the Rac.
Other days it can be used for RWJ advertisements or use your imagination.

I'm sure it will be fine. However, it does look like one of those half empty offices buildings off of I 287 where we carpool from to the games. $$$$

Can someone post a map showing exactly where this is being built? Thanks in advance.

PS I might toss a rabbits foot in the foundation :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

As long as the design includes lots of glass as someone said it's going to be very nice. Everything is thinking the outside will be concrete like the 70's buildings but I find that hard to believe. Glass and steel is going to make this puppy shine.

New rendition terrible. Looks like typical government building from the late 70's early 80's. Quite a shame. I expect they were trying to make it not look completely disjunctive next to the RAC.

You will not get fancy on the outside...we are cash strapped..why are people surprised. ..as long the inside is flashy and shiny its fine..out job isnt to build a palace its to build something feasible

the closer you get to the building process - the less detailed they try to make the renderings - because no matter how you build it, it is going to be different from the sketches - so leave as many sweeping brush strokes as possible - leave room for the final product to outshine the artist's concepts - or at least not look inferior.

I believe the "brown" part that people are worrying about looking the the 70's Busch campus architecture is actually Steel beams, but the art is a weird color. I think they took the inspiration from the Visitor Center. It will look kind of like this style:

The visitor section architecture sucks. Such an eyesore.

Wasn't Rutgers established in 1766, why can't we keep the look of that architectural time period. Continuity makes a campus beautiful, and honors its history. Some of the most beautiful colleges keep the same architecture throughout. Why are we not?

We complained about the Gateway, the Business School Building, the Yard, the Welcome Center, etc. and all turned out to wonderful additions to Rutgers. Let's give this a chance folks. I'm sure it will be great when all is said and done and if all it does is lessen the prominence of the RAC, it will serve its purpose.
You know, 3 of the 4 buildings you just mentioned are pretty awful. Especially the business school building (fad designs look outdated within a few years). Now the new Honors College, that is an amazing addition to the campus.

A modern take on that historical architecture is the way to go. Not modern fad designs. RU still has no identity.

Princeton, one of the most beautiful campuses in the country, has architecture from many different periods and styles.

I really hope that brown part is not concrete. If it's mostly glass and metal, it fits in with the rest of the newer Livingston. The newer part of Livingston looks great and I think the new practice facility will too, just need better renderings.

I'm pretty sure it's just poor coloring on the rendition.

You guys need to remember a significant portion of the structure is a parking garage. Just how fancy can or do you want make a garage? Seems like it'd be a ton of money wasted.

It appears the floor plans have been removed from the build site. I assume the RWJ portion needs to be added. This also may be why Volleyball is no longer part of the project.

As for the outside walls, you need to remember a portion of each floor is dedicated to locker rooms. You're not going to have glass locker room walls....duh. You're also not going to have floor to ceiling glass running along side basketball courts 4 stories up. Think people. From what I remember of the floor plans there will be glass for the offices, café, exterior hallways, and workout rooms which were all located in the front 1/3 of the building.

Somebody found the drawings for the original College Football Hall of Fame (suppose to be built where the yellow lot now sits) and said "why not salvage something" since it ended up further west.
At least something will be built.

Wow I didn't realize that. That really stinks for them. The women's volleyball team is by far the worst team in the Big Ten and they could really use something like this.

I'm really curious as to what happened with Volleyball. Maybe they're going to have the College Ave Gym to themselves with possible renovations coming down the road?

The College Ave Gym is supposed to have huge renovations in the 2030 plan but it's pretty far away. Maybe they will have something planned for them there.

I would hope there are some things they can do, now that the wrestling room will be available, well before then. That's a LONG way off!

The thing about Volleyball is they need some relatively high ceilings, I don't remember the wrestling room at the college ave gym having high ceilings. Otherwise, I guess they're just practicing at the barn. It's a shame.

My guess is that the volleyball space is being taken by RWJ/Barnabas for the Sports Medicine facility.

Wrestling out of the Barn and gymnastics out of the Livingston Gym? Maybe volleyball can use some space there?

I think so. I don't think they will leave them hanging.

However wrestling is currently training in a dump. It is like the worse ever. This will be a massive epic level upgrade and the rendering look as good or better than any of the other ones I seen for the elite programs around the country.
