FBS coaches voted unanimously at the AFCA convention to change redshirt rules from 4 games to 9 games. This will be put forth to committee approval.
what about players from the last 50 years? Why stop there? Just give everyone 5 seasons. And make it retroactive. I mean overseas pros and nba g league players are eligible for college basketball, why not players from within the last 15 years who still haven't played a full 5 seasons?
Why not as long as they haven’t already taken the class they can maintain their eligibility. You could stay in college forever. call it the Van Wilder rule. Why stop there? I say we bring back some of our best WRs since 2010, if they're still in shape. Why stop there? Just give everyone 5 seasons. And make it retroactive. You mean the SEC rule.Bluto rule - 7 years for everyone and you don't even have to attend class.
Or they could let them play through age 30 and call it the Pavia rule. Why not as long as they haven’t already taken the class they can maintain their eligibility. You could stay in college forever. call it the Van Wilder rule.
Poor guy was done so dirtyDrew Ott !!!!
Bluto rule - 7 years for everyone and you don't even have to attend class.
This guy already did it.
If that is true that Beck is not enrolled in any classes at Miami, he shouldn't be academically eligible, and should not be allowed to play and all wins vacated. It's been mentioned here on HR, when is the last time a major college athlete has been ineligible, but to not even be taking classes...
Why? He ain't come there to play school. Classes are pointless. If that is true that Beck is not enrolled in any classes at Miami, he shouldn't be academically eligible, and should not be allowed to play and all wins vacated. I have to believe thats up to the University at this point, since the NCAA has basically turned their backs at enforcement due to their court losses. Not surprising at Miami or some of the SEC schools. Pretty sure MG was taking classes at Iowa this year and he already had his engineering degree before he got there,If that is true that Beck is not enrolled in any classes at Miami, he shouldn't be academically eligible, and should not be allowed to play and all wins vacated. Agree. While theres been some small steps made to put some guardrails on this mess, its been too little too late. Alot more needs to be done to reign in this whole sale free agency. How the hell do you transfer from one school to another and not even be registered for any classes? I realize that athletes not actually going to class or doing any kind of real academic work is not a new thing, but to come out and admit that there’s essentially no need of being an actual student at the school? JFC
Different argument/situation. What you described has been going on forever everywhere. Someone “transferring” from one school to another then playing on the football team, but not actually being a student at the school is a new phenomenon in the new landscape we used to call college football. We gonna get mad at all the Iowa players over the decades who redshirted, graduated in 4 years, then played while not enrolled/enrolled in some joke crap their redshirt senior year?
Thats not even close to the same thing as changing schools and not even enrolling in classes. You would think the Universities would have enough institutional pride not to have players who were not even enrolled as students on their teams. I do have to wonder about these G league "pros" going back to college as wellWe gonna get mad at all the Iowa players over the decades who redshirted, graduated in 4 years, then played while not enrolled/enrolled in some joke crap their redshirt senior year?
So why the hell does the NCAA even exist?I have to believe thats up to the University at this point, since the NCAA has basically turned their backs at enforcement due to their court losses. Tavian Banks too. How about Brad Banks?Puff Johnson, OSU bb guard, just got a temporary restraining order from a local judge to allow immediate eligibility to play for buckeyes.
He played 3 seasons at UNC then played 2 seasons for PSU....112 games over 5 years.
Now, a 6th season for bucks because last season he only played 17 games due to a wrist injury in mid- January.
Tavion banks, stirtz, wetjen, grononski need to find a friendly Hawkeye judge in IC and keep playing.
No rules!
So why the hell does the NCAA even exist?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$So why the hell does the NCAA even exist?
Yeah, why the hell not Evil? I second thatI say we bring back some of our best WRs since 2010, if they're still in shape.
Why any rules? There are very few now. 12 playoff teams. 85 players per team. 1020 players. Can you name one player who was declared ineligible for their playoff game for academic reasons? This is not college football anymore. Why pretend? It used to be a concern every bowl season. (players being eligible for the bowl game) I guess the players are smarter now.Why stop there? Just give everyone 5 seasons. And make it retroactive.
