From someone who hasn't been to New Orleans in 40 years. We will be staying at the Hyatt next to Superdome. I see it's not to far from the Quarter and Bourbon St. What's the best New Orleans (cajun) seafood Joint in this area?

My favorite restaurant in New Orleans is Jacques Imo’s, which has seafood and others. Last time I was in New Orleans I had K-Paul’s for the first time and it was awesome. I think seafood is what K-Paul’s specializes in. If you want something in the quarter I’d try K-Paul’s. If you’re fine going out of downtown, I’d do Jacques imos.

Want an out of the way Local Spot?

There are thousands of good places to dine in New Orleans but try the Bon Ton Cafe on Magazine. It's just 10 or so blocks east of the Hyatt. Not a white tablecloth type place but serves remarkable cajun/creole at a fair price. Good but small wine list and with a wait staff who have been there for years. You will walk out saying that was a great New Orleans restaurant.

Lived in New Orleans for 27 months, 2012-2014, in Lakeview. My wife and I’s favorite place to eat is Katie’s restaurant in Mid-city. If you get the chargrilled Oysters Slessinger, you will want to go back. Any specials offered are great. I never had a bad meal there.

Lived in New Orleans for about 8 years. My favorite spots:

Katie’s: get the crawfish beignets as app
Peche: seafood
Cochon: everything is good
Parasol’s: Fried shrimp poboys
Stein’s Deli: Awesome sandwich spot
The Joint: BBQ
Shaya: Amazing Mediterranean food

Breweries: there are 4 breweries very close to one another on Tchoupitoulas: Urban South, Port Orleans, Nola, and Miel. All great.

Kind of depends on what you want to spend.

A lot of people like Mandina's. I like Deanie's but I only eat there once or twice a year otherwise I would be as big as a house. Katie's is really good. Basin Seafood is good.
On the higher end you have Bourbon House and Atchaflayla. DLB is a newer place- stands for Down Low Bayou.

And then you have the really famous restaurants on the even higher end- the Commander's Palace's, Antoine's, Galatoire's, Broussard's, and Aranaud's. Brigtsen's is really good too. All of those specialize in creole food.

For seafood near the Hyatt:
Peche
GW Fins
Herbsaint (great gumbo, diverse menu)
Luke (oyster happy hour)

great non-seafood near the Hyatt:
Willa Jean (breakfast-brunch)
Cochon Butcher (sandwiches/boudin)a
Company Burger
Maypop (Asian fusion)

Also, it’s Coolinary month so there are some great 3-4 course lunch/dinner specials at some of the best restaurants in the city.

Not sure about the "best" but Seaworthy is near you and very good.

If anyone wants to support a fellow dawg, a buddy that graduated with me just opened this place a few months ago. I've yet to go, but it's gotten some solid reviews, and it's a great location

then go where these folks are recommending.

If you want to eat where the locals eat....go to Elizabeth's. Ask for the praline bacon.

Hell, you may run into Norman Reedus. He drops in on occassion.

A fantastic desert joint is "Angelo Brocato's" off of Canal, south of the Lakeview neighborhood. I've never had a better Cannoli and they've got LOADS of other desserts; gelato, milkshakes, etc. Makes for a really great vintage spot, esp if your wife is into that "old New Orleans" style. My wife is from NOLA, without her, I'd never known about it.

Vincent's is my favorite restaurant in NOLA.

Doris Metropolitan is incredible as well.

Rum House is a staple for us, great tacos. Parkway Bakery & Tavern has some of my favorite PoBoys.

K-Pauls, Mr. B's, GW Fins are some more well known spots in the quarter if that's what you're looking for.

Cannot recommend taking advantage of Coolinary enough. Make a reservation for Friday or Saturday night. Limited offerings in some cases, but it's some of the best deals in town (for 3-5 course meals) the entire month of August. Great for couples, great for small groups.

I'm headed to MoPho this Saturday for their Coolinary offering. Menu looks fantastic.

Here's a second on Elizabeth's, their breakfast/brunch is well worth a look. From there cross Chartres to Crescent Park and walk along the river. Also in Bywater, try Pizza Delicious, The Joint BBQ and Frady's poboys. A few blocks over in the Marigny on Chartres, the New Orleans Cake Cafe and Bakery has some great fare too.

Not food, but gameday related, I called the SuperDome, and their parking lots will be first come first serve on gameday, $20 for the game. Lots 5 and 6 are the lots near the State seats.

If I'm driving in to nola the morning before the game, where would be the best place to park? Will be staying in town for a few hours after the game as well.

The Heal Garage (300 Lasalle St.) is a couple of blocks from the Dome and is usually $10 for the day. Also, the 1615 Poydras St Garage (enter at 1600 Perdido St.) is a block from the dome and between $10-$20. It's $20 to park in the Superdome garage.

I’m staying at a hotel pretty close and not driving. I’m sure I will be given a parking pass, right?

I park near Claiborne and Earhart for Saints games. It is not a good spot if you are looking to walk around downtown and the French Quarter before and after the game. But if you plan on driving to other parts of the city after the game that is where I would suggest. Parking is free there and you avoid downtown traffic.

You can park on the street on Earhart or underneath the interstate, but if you do park underneath the interstate make sure you pull up far enough so you're not blocking the sidewalk (they will give out tickets, trust me I know). Park and take the stairs over the railroad tracks and to the Dome.

Here's an address you can put into your phone - 2929 Earhart Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70125
