Frost said he didn't expect to make any "wholesale changes" to the offense, but a lot of that would depend on who ended up being the offensive coordinator. Frost said his offense "has been really good, and when we've had the right players, it's been elite"

IMHO, I don't think wholesale changes are necessary but need to improve in 3 areas:

1. We have to have a better run game and run threat for the redzone sake. Being efficient scoring requires a solid run game threat.

2. Better Play calling, especially considering you have a turnover machine QB.

3. Get rid of the slogan "No Fear of Failure" This is ingrained in AM's head and he doesn't hesitate to take stupid risks and decisions on the drop of the hat that kill drives. Instead I recommend new slogans like "Focus to Win" or "Train to WIn" Same could be said of our LBs and Safeties decision making.

Those "right players" were Marcus Mariota (Heisman trophy winner) and McKenzie Milton (was in the running for the Heisman until that awful injury.

So, yes, that's probably accurate. With a guy running the show that will be at the Heisman presentation, this is an elite offense.

Problem: our current starter couldn't carry the jock strap of either of those guys, and the staff hasn't addressed that issue since it became apparent in 2019.

First issue for me is that we have to teach our OTs how to pass block. If you can't at least get your hands on the guy, you're doing something wrong.

I like Travis Fisher's slogan best: "It is my job to find somebody better than you to replace you".

I know I'm not popular but I want to go back to an I-form power based offense, something simple and easy to master.

What I want doesn't matter, in essence but go back and watch a game from when they were good. It's beautiful

If Frost hires a pass-oriented OC the pink slip will already be out by October.

I hope I'm wrong and very well could be but I don't think Nebraska will ever be good trying to emulate what other teams are doing. I think they'll need their own brand of identity that was born long ago. Get the players to run it. Get them some ******* steroids if you have to. And go out and make a team hate to see you on the schedule

Id look long and hard at Anthony tucker at usu. Usu was trash last year and they are 7-2 this year with tucker running the offense.

Was OC as Penn State
Was HC at MSU (got a raw deal there)
Now OC for Oregon

Whoever they get is going to have to bring an actual QB along with him via the portal. Otherwise it doesn't matter what we run.

Unless we get a Martinez whisperer at QB coach that completely unf**s his brain.

The schedule is definitely easier but our defense likely takes a step back next year so the offense really needs to improve or it's 4-8 or 5-7 once again

They've got to replace the blocking scheme and be more physical. They've got to move away from the negative plays-- giving up sacks on 2nd & short when you are sending everyone out and only blocking with five is stupid. Running spread but using some I-formation sounds like a good idea to me.

Jerry Kill could be a good OC hire. He coaches physical football and doesn't give a sh*t about style points. A perfect contrast to Frost and he'll be available.

I just spoke to someone that runs in these types of executive circles, not the Nebraska one, but someone who is on this kind of level and sees these types of things.

They told me, that the OC had already likely been picked, and in order for them to take the position, they would want assurances that they could run things their way, and bring in their own people, and gave a list of who needed to be fired.

This person said this would have been done by the AD, and that would be the only way to get a new staff in with Frost only having a 1 year extention.

I asked what their confidence level was on this, and they told me 80%, but said this is how things are done in the vp world at major corporations.

Food for thought.

Makes perfect sense and a buddy of mine and I had conversation very similar to that Monday night about that possibility. Also needed pay cut to make it happen and fund the 2 year contracts if it didn't work

Agree it makes sense. However, I would be curious to know if there are rules against interviewing and speaking to coaches that are under contract at another school or NFL organization.

I would think it would be extremely difficult to keep something like this under wraps. If someone was already picked, then he told someone or his wife or kids told someone, and it will be out soon.

if it isn’t someone currently coaching, then why not announce it and let that coach at least recruit.
