Apparently the new uniforms are for the first game only, then it's back to the stripes again. Stricklin says our young coaches like change and we aren't going to stick to tradition. We will keep changing things. Like lots of State fans think, "we aren't Alabama and we have to do something different."

I was hoping we would ditch the fat stripes, but Loafer's polo says otherwise. I really only dislike the stripe on last years jersey. Get rid of it on the helmet and shoulders and you'll have a pretty slick uniforms imo.

That's right. Get rid of the stripe on the helmet and shoulder pads and it is a cool as uniform. This video should make everyone feel good about Adidas. Damn, Bob asked some pretty good questions in there.

The new uniforms are for the 100 anniversary of Scott Field. USM game only. Which sucks, IMO.

Personally, I think this is Bulls**t...

We never will be bama, UGA, LSU, etc from a tradition standpoint as long as we change looks as often as we do our underwear. Since when do young coaches get to call the shots? Ridiculous.

The only traditions we have are cowbells and losing a lot of games. If you think not changing our uniforms is going to give us prestige, I have to disagree.

I took out the part where the thought of not changing uniforms could somehow bump our tradition to Alabama, LSU, UGA levels. There is nothing outside of a time machine that can do that. Why should we try to be those schools in terms of tradition when their legacy was built on 100 plus years of winning football games? We have to come up with our own way.

Yeah I agree. I had some people tell me we should wear our traditional uniform and so I asked which one and got three different answers. Bottom line is we don't have a traditional uniform so what the heck is wrong with changing it a lot.

"at the same time being true to tradtion and the past"

how did that become "we aren't sticking to tradition?"

Buttoning the top button takes it from Delta casual to Business casual. And I'm not sure but I believe I saw Bobby Brady wear strips like that on his sleeves one time in an episode where he was hall monitor.

Damn, I wish people would just support the team and quit b@#$$ing about uniforms and polo's. No! we are not Alabama, LSU or Georgia and I don't want to be. Our thing is that we tinker with our uniforms and it make things interesting.

I'll explain it from a business perspective. Adidas pays us money to wear their brand and in turn they get to sell our stuff. If you bought a jersey/hat/shirt/jacket 5 years ago and we had the exact same look you'd wouldn't need to buy another one. However, if they change things up every year or two (or throw in an alternate jersey every year) then the fan base HAS to buy new stuff every year for fear of being seen in a jersey we haven't worn since 2012 (the horror).

The same reason truck dealers change the look of trucks every few years. The same reason all companies change the look of whatever they are selling every few years. People (not all) won't be caught dead in last year's model. That equals more money for the seller. If that's what the university thinks they need to do to get the money from Adidas then bring on the new gear every year. A jersey has never lost a game (except when it's black***)

im not totally convinced that we will have last years jerseys as our regular season jerseys. i dont recall anyone outright saying that yesterday. how often do you see teams practice in their game bottoms? rarely, if ever in contact practices. i hadnt played a competitive organized football game in my practice bottoms since 6th grade. up until the high school level, my teams always had separate practice unis vs game unis to minimize the wear and tear that would take place on game uniforms.

we practice in these:

and these

since we practice in our bookmark bottoms, im thinking we have something else up our sleeve.

See I think

that our uniforms have absolutely no impact whatsoever on us having success like those programs. I could be wrong. I wish it were as simple as that, but I'm afraid it's not.

Hey, Bailey, calm down. ..................................................................................................

He's good at marketing and buttoning his top button. And he seems to be a nice young man. Could eventually be a real nice assistant AD for marketing operations one day.

I wish we would pick one of these uniforms and stick with it for at least say a season instead of having a super special big time announcement of some brand new specialized uniforms that are guaranteed to be ok every month or two. If it weren't for the announcements, I would probably never have noticed anything had changed a hundred times.
