Very good, if we can add Thomas and a few of the other very good O-linemen in state this year, and combine it with what we got last year, it seems as though our o-line problems could be of the past. I swear O-linemen are like pitchers in baseball. You can never have enough of them, and if you have good ones, you will have a chance in every game you play.
I am raising a OLT and he is waaay smarter than I ever thought of being at 13.

Is that stars mean nothing to Hevesy. He Wasn't ready to take Gaines last year when we could have had him at any time. He wasn't sold on his footwork and declined his commit. Hevesy knows what he wants so if he is ready to take it, then I take that as a good sign. With this staff I worry less and less about recruiting rankings.
If he knew **** we wouldn't be questioning the o line in year 4. I hope he turns out great though.
Because he took a lt that got 2 qbs murdered in the 08 egg bowl and turned him into a first rounder...
Our OL issues are still 75% Croom... Or more specifically, the fact that we got Tobias Smith in 08 and Gabe Jackson in 09 as our ONLY OL contributors for 2 ENTIRE classes. The only blame Mullen/Hevesy get are the fact that we failed to successfully recruit the Juco ranks in 10 and 11.

Sherrod was bitchslapped by the Mississippi DL before Hevesy got here. Just like Dixon doesnt get drafted if Mullen doesnt show up- Sherrod is nowhere close to being a 1st rounder without Hevesy/Mullen/Balis

Mullen is a great recruiter and developer of players for MSU, and I love it. I just think OL will be what cost us for a few years!!! ALSO coach I'm all in on recruiting if u can pm me. Thanks.

We get guys that we are going to have to develop over the course of 4-5 years. That's why it's so important for us to have a coach like Dan and a S&C coach like Balis. That's what coach is saying- it's not often that we're going to get Alabama type talent o-linemen.

I think you would also agree that Croom couldn't recruit worth a darn and having a class with 1-2 o-linemen in it is unacceptable. Much like leaving us with Tyson Lee and Chris Relf at QB was also unacceptable.
You can fault Dan and Hevesy for not getting some JUCO's to bridge the gaps- and I don't know why they didn't- but aside from that, I think he has done a good job with the o-line. Damien Robinson was a four-five star guy, Desper was an Under Armour All-American, Day looked promising last year, and now we're in good shape with the top OT in the state in Jake Thomas, a guy from South Panola that has a ton of offers, Flowers looks pretty solid, and Cole Carter was probably the most athletic o-lineman in the state last year and was a guy that Ole Miss tried to flip. I think Justin Malone was a good find as well.
Heck, we could have an o-line with a guy from Madison Central, a guy from South Panola, and a guy from JA on it in three-four years. Those are places we've had some difficulty recruiting guys to say the least.

Ole Miss could really use Deon Mix and Kent Flowers, despite what Yancy is saying. Ole Miss needs a lot more than Daronte Bouldin and Davion Johnson on the OL this class. Mix is very talented but won't be game ready until his redshirt-sophomore year. He's got an excellent frame, but no technique whatsoever.

I'm one of the people that will tell you Banks and company are not Croom's recruits. 50% of them becoming top tier athletes for us is Croom falling *** backwards into getting guys that had talent to be interested in our school and 50% Mullen kicking their asses into shape when they got here.
Sherrod, KJ, Dixon, Chaney, and Charles Mitchell would all have been undrafted free agents had Croom stayed, and I don't think any but KJ would have made a final roster. There was a mindset change when Mullen came, and beyond that each player had a physical transformation under Balis.

Each player we have left has said he's endured the hardest workout he's had in his life since Ray took over. Furthermore, accountability is #1 for our players now, something that didn't exist under Croom or Stans.
Of course nothing will ever prove anything one way or another and this argument will never end, but realistically it's hard to imagine Croom ever turning things around and having Dan's success on or off the field. That goes for players too (on or off the field).
