the huge gap in quality and imaginationbetween that billboard and every billboard both MSU and UM have put out over the past year. That may be the plainest looking billboard I've ever seen.

I'm not the biggest fan of the billboards in general, but I sincerely hope that we would not put up crap like that if we lost to UAB and Marshall. The real tragedy is that somehow a team can be ranked after losing to UAB and Marshall.

...put "BCS-ranked Football Team" on the billboard because too many people still believe C-USA is not a BCS conference.

on 'what' you were trying to say.

Hope you are saying that they put "BCS-ranked Football Team" up there to CONFUSE folks because C-USA is most definitely NOT (and probably will never ever be a) BCS Automatic Qulaifying Conference.

I still think it's sad when all the C-USA 'champion' can look forward to is a trip to Memphis to play a 'really motivated' SEC #8 team.

they're trying to jump up in the middle of something that's between us and Ole Miss. None of this had anything to do with them, but they feel it necessary to pretend that it does. This is basically a pathetic attempt to say "hey guys, don't forget about us....we're relevant too! Please include us in your rivalry!". I guess that's what happens when you don't have a real rival (although UAB is making a strong case for one).

I love the attendance smack. Bring it on. Coming from a fan of a school that has to pay a $100,000 bonus for a conference win, it really is some funny ****.

That's a good thing. The more you can tie to actually winning games, the better off you are.

If Freeze wins 4 league games, he's worth the extra $400K next year. If he doesn't win any, he's not worth it. Obviously, you have to have a base level for any contract, but the more you can tie to incentives the better, because the more he wins, the more he pays for his own contract.

The funny thing is, no matter how many games USM wins, you're still in CUSA and never will be anything more than a CUSA school. Just stating a fact. We won two games this past year. You won 11 or 12 games, and there isn't a coach or AD that would choose your program over ours, because you're CUSA.

is that nobody is warring with teh Southern. You guys are trying to join an ongoing war that you imagine yourself to be a part of, but nobody notices you. sure, it makes for a decent message boardthread on a slow day every once in awhile...but other than that....(yawn).

i'm not mocking, i'm curious, so don't get mad.

1. Have you guys ever had a 100% capacity in your 30k(?) stadium?
2. Somewhat related - I heard there are plans for expansion. Are there? Is there really a need for it?A bigger stadium will just look that much emptier on TV.

They were ranked in the BCS poll, so they're not far off. They may not be a BCS-AQ but they are still a FBS team in the BCS era. So yea... still looks ******.

I saw that you guys brought all of your fans to the game. Just goes to show that USM travels well.

You know I talked to a coach on Fedora's staff and asked him about Fedora taking the OM job. Seriously, it took him a second or two to stop laughing.

Fortunately for us, the SEC is in the strongest position of all the leagues. I can't tell the future, but I can tell the present, and in the present, 11 wins in CUSA still lands you in CUSA at the end of the day.

that on the billboard so the Delta State Fighting Okra doesn't come back with their own billboard. How much does it cost to put a super bowl commercial together? Haha just kidding

2000-2011 was possibly the worst decade of all time combined for MSU and Ole Miss. I don't feel like putting in the effort to actually count but I would say you have 10 losing seasons, 3 winless conference seasons, losses to Tulane, Memphis, Maine, Jacksonville State, a bad La Tech team, and UAB, and a list, a very long list, of coaches that will go down in history as being some of the worst of all time... but Ole Miss and Mississippi State, again, having potentially the worst decade (barring the Manning *Memphis* years for Ole Miss and 2 mediocre bowls + the 2010 team for us) in memory, were both ranked in the BCS more times than USM. Ole Miss at one point, irrelevant as to how bad they actually were, was ranked #4 and MSU in 2010 finished in the top 15.

The recruiting class we have assembled might go down in history of being the best of all time in the state of Mississippi and we're making waves to scouts and people of importance with our swagger and NFL prospects coming out... USM finished the season beating everyone but UAB and Marshall. Which will an impartial college football fan from Mississippi remember in 3 years? Fletcher & co. or how USM ran the table on DII schools?
