New Bubble Next Year?

What aesthetics? The windows? The rest of their facilities don’t even come close to ours.
Miami? They share a weight room with all their teams and it’s not even that big. Went on a visit there as well. Forgot about Clemson as well. Their facilities are sick.
The ambiance of the facility. No one who has visited Marylands facility and ours is going to say they prefer the bubble, imo.

Furthermore, it’s an integrated facility that has everything in one place, which promotes efficiency.

The proof is in the pudding and they have been able to recruit better players than we have, thx in large part to that facility.

Miami will soon have the best facility money can buy, and their facility is going to be competitive with anything else out there.

I expect our Fieldhouse to be similar. We are a big ten program. We should have similar facilities to everyone else in the Big Ten.

I seriously doubt you have a site plan pal. Unless you wrote a 7 figure check, which I also doubt.

Ya know what's awesome? When I post something and the idiot subject of the post immediately proves me right.

Go f*ck yourself. Not only would I not share confidential information with you, but I wouldn't piss on your if you were on fire, you mentally crippled little toad.

Looks like someone is mad they got called out for being FOS.

I enjoy going back and forth with you because you talk down to everyone, dismiss any objections to you being wrong and then when you are proven wrong you have a meltdown.

Still enjoy you lecturing me that Schiano would not be back, that was a gem. I'd dig that gem up if I wasn't busy.

Anyway guys...have been someone who has made a pledge to the football practice facility and talking to every big name there is about this in person (unless they change something) they are dropping it in the middle of that road. So I would relax about it.

It’s not an integrated facility. It’s a gym converted into an all purpose field. You have to walk across the street to get to their other facilities. You are way off on this.
No it’s walks out of either facility super impressed.

Cry about it.

The people on this board who know me also know that when I say I have something, I have it.

Your kvetching is of no concern to me.

And I didn't say that Schiano wouldn't be back. I said I didn't want him back. Pretty sure those aren't the same thing.

Al is arguing like a Corporate manager who has no idea what is going on but just wants to throw money at a purported problem to give the illusion something is being done, when the reality of the situation is that there are much better and cost effective alternatives out there. He's impressed by useless shiny toys that nobody will have much use for just to say we have the same shiny toys as others.

Johnson Park on River Rd. has unlimited space for tailgating. Get the Govenor to impose his will to allow its use for 7 days out of the year. Build a pedestrian bridge over River Rd in the form of 2 castle turrets with a bridge. Reseed every Spring its just grass not a sacred burial ground.
This has always been the most correct and simple answer. This will fix so many problems and the pedestrian bridge makes too much sense that rutgers would never do it sadly. And also should be bringing back the alley for even more student involvement every contender big ten school has an area close to the stadium the students can tailgate at and not be bothered, another important point of game day experience. Season ticket holders should really write a letter or something. While I’m here on the subject of game day Experience the entry process and concession lines need to be improved.

Most of Al’s arguments are just a ploy to talk about how great Miami is. And he’s done it in this thread.

Al is dead wrong about ambiance mattering more than functionality.

You raise a good point about ND's facilities and the weight room distance. Rutgers has a choice here- cater to making everything as easy as possible for the football team and eliminating at least a portion of the best tailgating parking Rutgers has at the risk of alienating season ticket holders and donors. Or find a middle ground that works for all stakeholders.

Rutgers would be wise to have some sort of a town hall with the stakeholders--the coaches, major and mid-level donors who utilize the Yellow Lot, former players, an architect, the company that does most of the building of Rutgers facilities, etc. to have an open forum to consider options, exchange ideas and come up with a solution that works best for all parties. Our multi-year commitment will be done in another 2 years or so. Eliminating a significant part of the yellow lot will definitely give us pause about whether we want to continue to donate.

But this is Rutgers, and things don't usually work this way. They will f it up in more than one way.

Why not take the land to the east of the practice fields? That would give you enough room for a fieldhouse and all the bells and whistles. This way, you don't touch the lots.

Rutgers can't do anything. Middlesex County owns that Johnson Park. It's not Rutgers property and even it's use on Game day's has to go through Middlesex County which Rutgers pays handsomely for its use.

The first and most important question to ask. Coach schiano, between spring ball, pre season camp, and the actual season how many practices did you hold in. The bubble for weather purposes? In other words, how many time. Did you HAVE to practice indoors

I'm sorry but this is such a ridiculous take.

Rutgers wants to win.

It's almost like some of you rather have the Ash years as long as tailgating remains unaffected versus having a team that wins games but parking gets a little tougher and more competitive.

Agreed. Read an article referencing the arms race in college football and mentioned Clemsons field house. I can't seem to find it now but if I do will post. That said the "full team" used the field house less than 20 times the entire year. The field house was mainly used for pre season workouts by specific position groups and rehab situations. I know people will say southern state versus northern state. So double that for the north.

I do think the field house will be beneficial and needs to be built, but it will not be utilized as much as people claim it will. It is a shiny new toy that will have to renovated every 5 years and replaced in 20.

I see the difference between RU fans and Bama fans in this thread.

Saban: Alabama Football is building another new facility in this parking lot. You guys gotta move your tailgate and continue to donate.

Tide Fans: Roll Tide!!!!!!!

Schiano: Rutgers Football is building our first football facility in the Yellow……..

RU Fans: Get the f*** off my lawn. We want to tailgate and enter the stadium in the second quarter!!!!

LMFAO‼️

It certainly is not on the dime of this fanbase. This fanbase ***** on every fundraising effort and even calls out those who participate in it. Some will rather lose as long as the tailgate rocks with their on sale tailgate menu.

Come on, don’t be ridiculous. Do you really think Schiano had a new facility put in his contract for show? Rutgers commissioned a study which concluded that our facility was not competitive.

Yes tradition of success is important too, but the quality of our facility is something we can actually control. Recruits are impressed by shiny toys and Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State have many of them, which is why they significantly outrecruit us.

Throw up the facility and increase NIL, and we will significantly close the gap.

Just stop. We could have the cowboys facilities and we won’t out recruit those three. Pre NIL, they would cheat when we wouldn’t. Post NIL we will never have the battle chest.

So what. It’s the cost of doing business. Hale Center was built in 1988, significantly expanded in 2004, and significantly renovated since then.

In that time, our Big Ten Peers have built excellent facilities with few exceptions.

Despite that, we are way behind, which is why Schiano had a facility added to his contract. A new Fieldhouse is the last piece of our facilities puzzle.

How much time because in 10 years the field house won’t be new anymore and then we will need different shiny things.
Look, I’m all for a field house. Don’t see it as priority number 1 but it’s needed. Just needs to be done well because RU tailgating is the one constant since schiano 1.0. If you took the 50
Million in donations we need and spent it on the next 5 classes we would be so successful we could pay for a field house in cash.

Did you even read before you responded? I said the field house should be built. It’s not a panacea that will automatically recruit itself. As you say everyone else already has it and most don’t really use it all that often.

It is something that the big boys have. The only thing is there will always be more. It’s an arms race! And we will always be somewhat behind. Unless we stop chasing.

If you break the conferences into thirds. I think starting next year there are like 74 teams in the B1G. As long as we are in the second grouping we are fine.

We are a Big Ten program which gets BTN funding on a par with the ACC and a donor base on a par with the AAC. In a few years when we get a full BTN share, we’ll still be far behind the rest of the league due to years of differential. We cannot compete by lining up battalion against battalion. We need different tactics to leverage whatever few advantages we have.

I’m responding to your last point that the facility would have to be renovated and replaced eventually. True, it’s the cost of doing business.

Good luck raising funds when you have alienated a significant chunk of your donors and season ticket holders. Yeah, that's a ridiculous take, especially been it is quite possible to put the field house in the Brown lot and over the old tennis facility.

You did not address any of the reasonable alternatives. It seems you think winning means the fieldhouse can be in only one location. Ok.

That is a joke. We don't raise money now from our season ticket holders. Minus the few donors who contribute real $$, I would be our yellow lot folks donate a measly amount compared to our competitors. We have had the cheapest donors for 50 years, no way should they get a voice. I am positive the Towers

If the football program believes it should be in the Yellow Lot then it should be there. I am sure they are picking the location that helps them the most. Again, it's about the football program and not the tail gaters, who cant when get into the stadium on time
