Humor us. Let's say Kraft gets sacked. Who are the candidates YOU want to see who can bring in the MOST NIL money?
Marshall did that with hiring Christian Spears. He got his though after 2 yrs. and raise money? he said he did but alot of 'pledges' never got filledA complete creep who will hire and fire like a gangsta and raise tons of money.
Do we owe his estate if he has an accident?Buyout is substantial. I dislike Krafty the Klown as well, but it ain’t happening.
Yeah, an assist AD who has been at one of the top programs for awhile. They wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel, just copy it.If there's anyone formerly or currently at Alabama or Ohio State that would have the resume, that would be my first choice. Both schools have a long tradition of athletic success in the revenue sports (football obviously the main one, but Bama has been making a run in men's basketball, and OSU hasn't fared too badly - for Penn State, ANY success would be an upgrade). IMO that's what's really needed, a winning attitude in the administration, not just the teams/coaching.
Wut??Key Factors in the Payment
- Contract Offset Clauses: Franklin’s contract included offset language, meaning any salary he earned from a new coaching position would reduce what Penn State owed him over the remainder of the deal (which ran through 2031). [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Accepting a New Job: After being fired in October 2025 following a 3–3 start, Franklin was hired as Virginia Tech's head coach in November 2025. [1, 2]
- Lump-Sum vs. Offset Settlement: Rather than waiting out a drawn-out payment structure or relying purely on standard offset reductions, both sides agreed to a flat $9 million settlement, saving Penn State roughly $40 million while giving Franklin guaranteed upfront or structured funds to move on.
Funny thing is when people state things as fact and conviction, but really don't tell the whole story.
LOLOLStadium fundraising is ahead of schedule and the stadium itself is going to come in on time and potentially under budget. I can’t find it, but I read in the past that he may in fact receive a performance bonus for the stadium.

But why would PSU do the logical, easy thing?Yeah, an assist AD who has been at one of the top programs for awhile. They wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel, just copy it.
Fair point, but no one is going to pay Kraft an offset!Key Factors in the Payment

We all want him gone but he will continue to make millions off the university and outside of these message board groups here and 247 his performance has far exceeded his predecessor in terms of what really matters to university leadership - fundraising. There’s no way the university gets rid of him over the next few years, even if God forbid football tanks.LOLOL

Correct about one thing: PK gets an EXTRA million when the stadium is done.
My point was that they just didn't hand over 9 million to JF for the fun of it. Lawyers got involved and a settlement occurred which is pretty typical once a coach gets fired and they are landing on their feet elsewhere. As far as Kraft, I have zero clue what was written there nor do I care, but I just was correcting the inaccuracy of the JF statement.Fair point, but no one is going to pay Kraft an offset!
Well...We all want him gone but he will continue to make millions off the university
YEP VERY LITTLE DOUBT ABOUT THAT
and outside of these message board groups here and 247 his performance has far exceeded his predecessor
WELL, YEP. 99% OF FOLKS - EVEN THOSE WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES PSU FANS - HAVE NEAR ZERO KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAGNITUDE AND THE BREADTH OF KRAFT'S FAILURES AND LACK OF COMPETENCE. NO DOUBT.
IF THEY DID - AND THEY WERE REASONABLY INTELLIGENT - THEY WOULD MOST CERTAINLY TAKE SB OVER PK (IF THOSE WERE THE ONLY TWO OPTIONS) - BUT WOULD CERTAINLY WISH FOR A BETTER CHOICE
in terms of what really matters to university leadership - fundraising.
WELL, DIFFERENT ERAS - THAT CHANGED RAPIDLY (NIL AND WHAT NOT AMONG THEM).
BUT THAT IS RATHER LOL, GIVEN THE TWO DIFFERENT SETS OF SCENARIOS.
THAT SAID, BOTH WERE/ARE HORRIBLE.
There’s no way the university gets rid of him over the next few years, even if God forbid football tanks.
I WOULD PROBABLY GUESS SO - BUT AS SOON AS THEY CAN AVOID A BIG PR HIT (IT WOULD CLEARLY BE A HUGE PR BLACK EYE TO CAN HIM RIGHT NOW, FOR EXAMPLE, I THINK HIS LIFESPAN MIGHT BE THAT OF A FRUITFLY)
I’m all for if you can figure out a way the university cans him.Well...
Oh, what they do with PK is their business now.I’m all for if you can figure out a way the university cans him. After the coaching search concluded last year, I was told by a couple posters on this board to stop calling him Krafty. Well, he deserves worse than that. I still do think Campbell, despite some obvious missed steps over the last few games, is going to end up being a good hire, but he came into this down 70 players and without a real recruiting class last year because the former coaching assistant leftovers were allowed to pillage the team and the class. That was all on Kraft.
I am not sure how much the AD has to do with that, but in any event:I read this paragraph in the Athletic.
Adapt is the key word, because Smart has not overhauled his approach, or “embraced the chaos,” to borrow the phrase from Ole Miss, which exploited NIL and transfer portal freedoms to raise the Rebels’ status. Georgia, on the other hand, has the third-least transfers (seven) among power conference teams this year, and the spending on its roster barely ranks in the top 20, per The Athletic’s roster budget reporting project.
So, I would wager the AD was helpful in the process of creating this dynasty. I would further guess that he is highly compensated. Dude appears to make $750k less than Krafty. Damn we know how to budget.
