You need to go back to the hospital where people are trained to help you. Pick up the phone now and call 911 or go calmly ask your family to take you to university hospital. Do this now.

My brother is on his way to pick me up. He is going to watch over me until Monday and take me to see my psychiatrist. He is going to take the next couple of days off to watch me.

Glad to hear that. Sounds like you have a great brother and family that care about you. That's a great strength to have during bad times. Thanks for reaching out.

Psalms 40:1-3

I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Look to the Lord my friend!

Brother picked me earlier this morning and took me to his house. He is going to take care of me until I see psychiatrist on Monday. He called our sister and told her what is going on. They are both going to psychiatrist with me. If not hospitalized she is going to take me home on Monday and watch me so brother can go back to work. I slept 3.5 hours this morning first sleep I've had in 3 days. Guess better than nothing. Thanks for your prayers.

Cardfan,
In 1986, pernicious anemia broke my spirit and
and brought me to the point where I had to be hospitalized to keep me from hurting myself. I know the depths of despair and I know what the prayers and love of family and friends can do to help one out of that despair. I'm praying for you as one who has been there and knows that God answers prayers. God bless you.

Cardfan198,
When I was in the hospital, a nurse asked me to read the 22nd Psalm. It describes how a person feels in deep depression. Next door is the 23rd Psalm, which begins "The Lord is my Shepard..."
It took me a while to get from the 22nd Psalm to the 23rd Psalm, but there is where I am today. Hope you will be there soon.

Health not good. Pray for me.
Hang in there brother, it’s tough, but people care. I and a lot of others here at rafters will pray for you. Melatonin may help a little with sleep it’s natural and you don’t need a prescription. I’ve had to use it in the past.
Not trying to be your doctor but reduce caffeine if it all possible. Try taking a hot shower before going to bed or using the whirlpool if one is available. Shut the computer, phone and TV off at least an hour before trying to go to bed. Read if it all possible. Exercise during the day and tai chi or meditation in the evening.
Most importantly, make a call list. Four, five, six or even 10 people that you can call when in need. And, when you’re in need start with number one on that list until you reach someone. The suicide prevention line is excellent: 800-273-8255.
Remember, there are people here that want to know how you’re doing next week, next year and the following years. We WILL pray for you

Thank you all for your prayers and advice. Brother and sister took me to my psychiatrist earlier today. I told the psychiatrist everything going on. He talked to my doctor and they upped some of my medications. I am now at my sister's house. I'm allowed to have my phone for an hour a day supervised, no TV or video games. Allowed to read books and do crossword puzzles. Also allowed to have my Bluetooth heaphones and they control what I listen to through my phone. They are trying to keep me as calm as possible. Psychiatrist is going to call and check to see how I'm doing everyday.

Cardfan, I hope you're doing better. A couple of things that I have found helped me in down times. . .

1. Go for a walk or jog every day
2. Invest in a hobby
3. Make a list of what you're thankful for everyday
4. Read the Bible
5. Do not associate or listen to negative voices in your life (or head)
6. Get a sketch pad and draw/doodle
7. Do NOT watch the news
8. Tell someone you love them everyday
9. Do not keep your feelings bottled up, talk to someone you can trust
10. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables

I will not pretend I know what you’re going through but I have battled anxiety my entire life and it only got better once I had so many things to keep busy doing I no longer had time to worry. If you ever need someone to speak to, private message me and I’ll give you my cell number. May god bless you, card fan.

Yes I am doing better than what I was before I went to hospital. I suffer from schizophrenia, major depression disorder, anxiety and PTSD. Also have other medical conditions. Wed of last week I was drinking really heavily and tried to take my own life. Lots of sleeping pills as well as other medications.

Reason I quoted your message was you said to invest in a hobby. I am a hardcore gamer and for the last couple months I have lost interest in playing. Think because of depression. I try to force myself to play at times and my anxiety will shoot up really bad. Some of my friends get mad because I don't play as much. I have actually lost a few friends due to this. Any suggestions?

Go outside and focus on physical activity. Go to the park and walk or jog. Anything to get under the sun and get the dopamine flowing. The release of endorphins in exercise can really help with depression along, with Vitamin D you’ll get from the sun.

P.S. If you lost a few friends because you don’t play video games as much anymore, they were never really a true friend in the first place. F*** em.

I swear you sound just like my brother. He self medicated with drinking and lost interest in almost everything- except his ex-wife who wanted nothing to do with him.

I gather you game online, probably COD, Fornite or another multi-player shooter? Try a single player game you can dive into. Something like Zelda, Red Dead Redemption, Animal Crossings or Assassin's Creed. Or try the countless puzzle games available on your iOS or Android.

Also, when you get frustrated while gaming, try some of those other things out. Go for a walk, sketch or start a journal. Then return to the game when your head is clear.

Yeah used to play a lot of online gaming COD, Forza, Fortnite etc. Mostly shooters and racing games online. I have been limited lately with what I can play. I have to play smaller games now. Used to also love to play games like Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption and GTA V. Haven't been able to play them I don't know why, but my anxiety just gets real bad when I even think about playing them. Almost like I feel overwhelmed by them.

Try some old mindless arcade games that take very little thought, but instead require instinct and reflexes. Games like Pac-Man, Centipede, Missile Command, Space Invaders, Super Mario Brothers, etc. can really keep your mind off things for long periods of time.

Yeah I have always been honest with people with my depression and other mental health issues. I have had a few gamer friends remove me from their list and block me. Some played years with on Xbox Live. They would hold me about playing a game and would tell them my depression was bad at that moment and wasn't able to play. They would get mad and block me over it.

Never thought about that I love older games as well. My brother is a huge gamer as well. He has all the older systems will have him to let me borrow his old nes so can play Mario games. As for the Arcade games I have a lot of them on my Xbox One.
