I enjoy going to the games. Even when we suck. But, like I said...if this is the product...hopefully Moos is hiring two coaches in the next year.
I agree it has to get better than this. If it doesn't the next guy will have a bunch of talent to work with.

Cold cold night shooting the ball. Hope it's just one game or this will be a long long season.

Okeke with a great block. Gosh, I wonder if that might have come in handy over the past hour or so?

Gill's gonna shoot his way out of this two-year slump if it's the last thing he does.

You could hang laundry on those line drives.

Like I said a week ago, until these numbers improve, and I mean vastly improve, Nebraska will continue to wallow in the bottom of the B1G. Numbers don't lie!

Oh, FT % is UNDER 67% for the team. Another train wreck.

Jordy is a good player. This is a bad matchup for him with St John's going small and helping down while we can't buy an outside shot.

I’m actually glad Eichorst didn’t fire Miles last year or we could of been stuck with a new coach in a five year contract that none of us have ever heard of. If we play like this all year and there’s no reason to think a Tim Miles coached team will ever get better during a season then he’s almost certainly gone.

Allen can be a difference maker for us but he's hurt and they didn't think he would play at all. He can fill it up from outside and our season probably rests on his shoulders. Nobody else can shoot

I like Allen. But if our season is riding on him then chalk up another 12 win season for Miles.

Can we finally all admit that Jordy just isn't that good at all?
I did not see the game, was listening while cleaning a deer and tagging it out. I thought he made progress in season last year. Has he regressed in the Tim Miles off season plan? You know the one.... where they only concentrate on D, and the coach gives interviews wondering how other schools get all their offensive sets installed BEFORE the season?

Nothing at all surprising about what we saw tonight. Typical NU performance against a team with a pulse.

Jordy is coming off of tendon/ligament surgery in one of his knees one of our guys said in the pregame and he's not completely back. I agree I thought he had made huge strides at the end of the year but he looks tentative again. I bet he gets better as he regains confidence in that knee.

Attended the game. A very winnable game that would have come in handy down the road. This team has more talent than I’ve seen. But this team has no offensive ball movement. No system at all that I can tell.

Palmer is a hell of a player. Copeland has great size and can move for his size. Watson has shown how good he can be. Allen can shoot. Evan Taylor has nice athleticism. Jordy is a nice big body.

Yet somehow this team looks so disjointed.

Ugh.

I mentioned in another post the other day...the talent level of this team is far better than last year. The only common denominator remains Miles and I think you saw that tonight. As you stated...“This team has more talent than I’ve seen. But this team has no offensive ball movement. No system at all that I can tell.”

That pretty much sums it up. Unless something changes I fear more of the same anytime they are up against a team that can put any degree of pressure on them. They do not seem to react well and I don’t see Miles and his assistants making any adjustments on the fly.

Palmer:
"I think this team could be real good. I think we could make a run in the (NCAA) tournament. We have to focus on getting there first, but I think this could be one of the best teams to ever come through Nebraska."

Okeke:
"This is probably the most talented team I've ever played with, I'm not going to lie to you. You've got guys with different stuff and different backgrounds, but it's just like, I see us doing so much more.

"Like, we have no ceiling. I know a lot of teams say that, but if you look at our roster and you see what we do day-in and day-out, this is probably one of the most talented teams I've been a part of."

Before the season these guys thought they were the ****. I hope they don't think that anymore.

Time to practice getting better in practice.

Maybe someone should email Moos and tell him to ask Miles about his offense, how it works and why he hasn't changed it since it hasn't worked for 6 years now.

Maybe this team just needs time playing as a team.

A lot of new players on the roster that haven't played together until the Missisippi State game and haven't even practiced together as of now.

Like football we hear stuff like this during the off-season about basketball. I think we have more talent than what we showed last night but for the life of me I still don’t understand our offense.

Welcome to college basketball. Roster turnover is part of the equation, and eventually you need to produce results on the court. That doesn't mean you absolutely have to go on the road to St John's in November and get a win, but it would be nice not to get your *** completely handed to you in each and every phase of the game for the entire 40 minutes.

Talk, talk, talk. Blah, blah, blah. None of what the players SAY or what Miles SAYS means ****.

What I saw last night was just more of the same old crappy Nebraska basketball. Same old crap I have been following since 1965.

It is getting old. Either put a team on the court that can shoot, play defense, rebound, and execute an offense, or just admit you suck.

I am not calling for anyone to be fired. Who the hell even cares? Fire this guy and then all we will do is bring in the next loser coach whose career will die here. I will just sit back, cynically, and wait to be surprised by this team. But I highly doubt I will. More than likely we are at the beginning of another bottom feeder season. Because that is what we do at Nebraska with basketball.

So if Miles fails again this year I don't want him fired UNLESS we can lure a proven big time winner as the coach here. Anything less than that will simply mean a repeat of the same.

Coaches coach how they feel comfortable coaching. It is so hard to break your habits as a coach. Trust me, I am a horrible football coach and I have horrible habits. Miles will not be this "up and down, get out and run" coach that a lot of you would love...he just won't. Just like he won't press as much as we would like but when he does it really seems to work well.

Offense is puzzling no doubt but I'm going to give Mullin and St John's some credit. Xavier is ranking and beat Wisconsin last night and I didn't see anything out of Xavier's defense compared to what St John threw at NU last night. They were in our face all over the floor most of the night. Watson got pushed around and got frustrated and Allen just couldn't go. Their guards killed us and I don't think we'll see very many guard tandems that good this year. We'll see how it turns out but I'm not going to slash my wrists just yet over a game this early in the year. We couldn't buy a shot last night and they couldn't miss. Not everybody we play can shoot like that can they? Ooops. Just looked at the stats. Should have said we can't shoot it that badly every night can we? 27% from the field isn't going to win many games.

St. John's was 5-of-17 from three-point range - which isn't terrible, but it's not like they absolutely lit it up from the outside. They won the game by making layup after layup after layup.
I didn't get to watch the whole game but every time I saw them put up a 3 it went in. I was surprised when I looked up the stats. I would have figured they had shot it much better than that. That said, we were terrible from the field. I'm hoping St Johns is better than we think and there D was all that was wrong for us cuz we looked putrid.
