I agree. Pointing out their nine wins come against average to crappy teams is not dismissive of the fact that they find a way to win versus finding a way to lose.

Sagarin has Nebraska as the 24th best team in his predictor. Home field is worth more at Nebraska than the average. Zero turnovers and keeping penalty yards down to 30 or so and the Huskers can easily win. Iowa is no better than Minny.
Based on ESPN's Football Power Index ratings, here's how Iowa would have fared this year against Nebraska's schedule (the Hawks' FPI is 9.1, good for 25th in the country, while Nebraska is at 8.9 and tied for 27th), with a four-point home field advantage factored in. Way too much emphasis on change of venue, IMO. It’s an interesting look though. Timing of when teams play are also big time factors.
KSU "should" win that game easily. Both Texas QBs are hurt, the o-line blows, the defense has checked out for about 4 weeks in a row now, and KSU plays a style of football (physical) that Texas can't beat right now. Load up on KSU.
Still, even at 5-6 against Iowa's schedule, that's better than 3-8 against ours, and the narrative is slightly changed.
Our schedule hasn't been as bad as yours but calling it weak isn't backed up by fact it's ranked right around the top 25.
The teams iowa have beat have a combined 43-56 record. That’s a crap schedule. iowa has been living off the pre season AP ranking of Indiana and ISU. Pound sand.

Iowa has played on a shorter field than our opponent all season. There are a lot of hidden yards that don't show up on the stat sheet. The strategy has been to play field position and let the special teams and defense win the game.
Iowa emphasizes special teams. KF talked about how Illinois had only had a few kickoffs returned against them all season. It's been all touchbacks. He said they brought the first one back to get a look at how they would cover. They covered as expected and Lamar the special teams coach thought they could exploit it and maybe get one. That return TD was a huge play. When the NCAA expanded the number of coaches allowed, we made LeVar Woods the full-time special teams coach. That unit went from good too great and it has made a big difference. If you guys changed nothing else, but just had Iowa's special teams this season, you'd be a ranked team.
Iowa put 9 of those losses on there. Really screws the numbers.
No polls should count before mid-November.

Iowa fan here. I had this as an L for the Hawks before the season started so I guess I will stick with it. Probably is a 50/50 type game as I could see about every scenario happening. Both teams are a little beat up but Nebraska is probably due against Iowa to finally win one of these.
