These are truly becoming bush league semi pro teams based on college campuses. I’m waiting for the legal disclaimers to begin. Something like “we feature today the Kentucky Wildcats which in no way are affiliated with the university of Kentucky…..”. Insert your favorite semi pro team.

I am glad that Kentucky finished as the best college basketball team of all time. Surely college sports has ended.

College athletics has been a fraud and a joke for many, many decades. It is time to pull back the covers and allow the light to shine on what it really is. A money making endeavor for the Universities that has nothing to do with academics.

Let them by pass college academics and pay them to represent the university, not as a student but as a paid athlete. Then no rules that apply to other students will apply to them. Why not?

According to the ESPN crawler where I first saw this announced, the purpose is to promote minority "equity". WTF does that even mean? FYI, equity does not equal equality. So, equity in what?...a failing educational system?
Basically, we're going to compromise the entire system because someone thinks minorities aren't well represented on college campuses? Have any of these people actually been on a college campus???

Long overdue IMO, for a lot of these kids an athletic scholarship is going to allow them to completely change their lives. Most of these kids aren't 'stupid' they just come from upbringings where the support system around them makes it more difficult the succeed academically. I'm sure the first time it benefits UK a lot of the negative comments in this thread will quickly change.

It's funny to see the people who believe the universe was created by one mystical being is now decrying the "dumbing down" of society.

First, why do you all care if standardized tests are used, or do you just like to ***** about anything that challenges the status quo? Second, standardized tests have been proven to be biased and they don't prove anything. All they prove is that you know how to take a test.

Trillions of $$$'s have been spent on education in the US since 1980 and this nation regularly ranks in the 30's globally. Liberals currently hold both houses of Congress and the White House. We just suffered through 8 years of another liberal named Obama. Why is American education so average compared to the rest of the world? It isn't because we haven't thrown good money after bad repeatedly for decades.
Maybe we aren't demanding enough from students and teachers for the dollars being spent?
You know, like asking them to have a minimum test score to be accepted into a so-called institution of higher learning?

I love this place. Do some of you all know that many schools don't require standardized tests anymore? Arizona, SMU, Wake Forest, NYU, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, UNLV, Kansas State, Kansas, LSU, Marquette and Oklahoma to name a few.

What are we supposed to be upset about again?

Maybe try looking at the public school system and their union. Students from the private schools seem to do very well. When teachers are allowed to take paid days off work to go the the state capitol to protest then what do you expect?

College athletics, like many other traditional activities in the culture, are being sucked into the greater struggle between instant gratification and methodical construction of solid life and family habits. This is just another stumble down the rabbit hole. But a lot of people don't see it coming because it is a slippery slope.

Conservative run states and conservative run school systems routinely rate at the bottom of academic rankings. They spend their time trying to prevent specific aspects of science, history, and literature from being taught because they disagree with it, often using religion as a crutch to defend their indefensible actions. Look at how many conservative politicians have whipped their constituents into a fervor over "critical race theory." CRT is a COLLEGE LEVEL COURSE. At no point has CRT ever been taught at the public school level. Yet look at all the conservative politicians wasting time and money "fighting to stop CRT indoctrination in middle and high schools." And uneducated people, also known as the conservative base, eat it up with a spoon. You are probably one of the dumbasses who has posted something on Facebook or Parler about the righteous fight to keep CRT out of your local public schools.

Ignorant people like you are the exact reason why conservative politicians keep dumbing down the education the kids receive in their local schools. They know you have to be an absolute idiot to swallow the BS they spout on the campaign trail. You have to be one of the dumbest mother f***ers on the planet to see a politician ranting about CRT in public schools and think "I agree with that." Meanwhile, educated people sit back and wonder why are people getting upset about GRADUATE LEVEL COURSES that have absolutely nothing to do with K-12 public education.

Please give us a link to show that conservative run school systems rate at the bottom. Lexington Catholic and Lexington Christian academy rate at the top of the academic rankings and they are both conservative run school systems. Might want to get your facts correct before posting.
