Nothing is shocking in the portal world but if you've watched any Stilly Boys videos post NCAAs Dee looks to be a massive part of the team and very much locked it.
That’s what confused the heck out of me, but the Zepeda stuff makes more sense. Dee being there for Robideau & the other guys after their finals matches even after having a rough tournament seemed like a dude who is 100% in for his boys.

Only reason Dee would go anywhere is if he was told he's taking a RS and his ego got in the way. With guys like Chris Perry telling Dee what he wants to hear and milking the situation. Perry has been in Dee's ear since he lost his job at OSU because he's bitter af. If a shirt is coming and Dee doesnt want one then Perry will work overtime. Wasnt hard to predict BT to ISU for that same reason.

Perry sounds like a petulant child. He was not done wrong in any way. New coach comes in and brings in his own staff. Tale as old as time.

Due to relationship status, I really thought ou was a possibility.

I’m guessing Mark Hall was made aware of all situations with BT?

Either way, I hope BT goes and does well.

We all know our current staff is about culture, character, attitude and work ethic. An athlete can be 20+ years old and have had his/her whole life revolve around a sport, but theres more to life than sports. There will always be coaches/staffs that will take talent over character and they need to do so much more. With less accountability athletes can spend years in college and never become a better human for it in terms of maturity, discipline or just personal growth. Im thankful Coach Taylor is committed to getting the best out of his team both on and off the mat. That will always be the best way for athletes to grow in all areas whether they realize it or not.

Can buy talent but you’ve still gotta coach it up and deliver results. That’s the name of the game in this era of college athletics. You can have a ton of talent on paper and still screw it up.
Agree and Nebraska does a good job at that. Ech was saying I'm going 149 and not many of the big players needed a 149 smart move by Nebraska

I presume he’d go 174? Which would either leave Facundo out of the lineup or dropping down to 165 and (if he wins the spot) pushing Dee into RS? If that comes to pass and Dee redshirts AND stays in Stillwater, DT goes up on the rafters as an all time salesman.

Norman staying at 174. Facundo had already made the decision to drop to 165. Dee could use the redshirt, but i'd also be scared to let him take the year "off."

That’s where my head is at. I think Dee could benefit tremendously from a redshirt both physically and mentally. However, it must be an incredibly hard sell to get a kid who was a top 5 recruit to take a redshirt after competing as a true freshman. Honestly that’s only something I think we’ve seen Cael pull off up to this point (I guess Henson at VT?).

For an optimistic angle, a year off for him to focus solely on getting better without all the stuff that comes with competing (weight management, workload balancing, etc.) for what may be the first time in his life could be the perfect thing for his mentals.

And with 5 for 5 someone is sitting. A year off for Dee wouldn't be good. Remember he grew up in Stillwater so he has many friends around who aren't at Oklahoma st. He needs to have goals and consistency and that doesn't happen with a RS

Is 5 for 5 going to go into effect for guys already enrolled, or is it going to be a deal where it goes into effect for the class of 2026 or 2027 and beyond?

Agreed. No one he keeps his head on straight not competing. Hopefully he's at Junior WTT
