Illini did come in as the underdog…

Hard for me calling a team chocking that wasn’t favored…

Now the Ioway basketball teams choked big time..
Didn't realize Houston was the favorite nor paid attention to who the higher seed was. Regardless, Illinois is used to bowing out early in these tournaments.

It’s was only 3.5, either way I get that either team could have come out with a win but the only B1G teams I had advancing to the sweet 16 were Purdue and Wisconsin..

How does Iowa state go from not winning a single conference game last year to playing for a sweet 16 birth this year?

Hepburn injured - doesn't look good.

Hate to see that, as much as I want to see the Badgers lose in their tailor-made regional.

Izzo finding that bawling his way into favorable calls is a lot more difficult when K is on the other bench.

Not playing Davidson in this round, Izzy.

If you remember college basketball before the 3-point line and shot clocks, the Iowa St - Wisconsin game is for you. Ugly basketball. 50 could be enough to win.

Brad Davison is a whiney d-bag. Not getting away with the hooks and pushoffs.

Wisconsin should be banned from the tournament on account of harm to the viewers. What a brutal game of basketball.

And that is the kind of crap they play during the Big 10 season majority of the time..

On the other hand....I tend to root for the underdogs. For a team that has actual college student players. A team that needs to be put together and do whatever it takes to win. Rather than a 1-and-done NBA factory non-student team that has an overwhelming talent advantage.

Plus Gabe Kalsheur is giving me flashbacks to Royce White. Through our negligence, the Gophers keep giving Iowa State their best player.

And Utah “gave” them Timmy Allen and Creighton “gave” them Christian Bishop.

And guess what? Nobody gives a ****.
I've mentioned before how Minnesota self-sabotaged Clem Haskins right after the Final Four....as well as Tubby and Pitino's best teams.

I didn't even mention how our starting lineup this year should have been legit true center Liam Robbins along with 4 guys who can easily go for 20+ in big games... Kalsheur, Carr, Battle, and Willis. If we kept Pitino. And if we fired Pitino 1 year earlier, Eric Musselman was begging to be our coach.

If anyone here gave AF, that would be fascinating.

Big 12 teams look pretty good to me. Even the lower seeds are putting up good fights. TCU just played a heck of a game against Arizona. But I was happy to see Texas lose.

Although TCU's offensive set was a **** show, I did think Arizona bailed them out with a foul.
That’s true, I don’t know what the hell TCU was trying to do there. But it has always pissed me off when officials won’t call obvious fouls at the end of a game because they want the players to decide it or whatever. Maybe that’s just me though

I love the parity in this tournament. Look at this spread of number teams by conference of who is in the sweet 16, I wish football could somehow get to this but that seems impossible:
Big 12 - 3
ACC - 3
Big 10 - 2
PAC 12 - 2
Big East - 2
SEC - 1
WCC - 1
MAAC - 1
American - 1

TCU was doing what way too many teams do in that situation: trying to run the clock down to 5 or 6 seconds before they even look at trying to score. The problem with that strategy is that any team worth a damn can play defense for 5 seconds, and the end result is usually a terrible shot.

I would much rather see a team run its offense and take a good shot, even if it leaves a few seconds on the clock. But that almost never happens in the over-coached, micro-managed sport of college basketball.

That still doesn't excuse the no-call though. As Tuco pointed out, you have to either call a foul or a backcourt violation, and that crew just chose to do nothing.
