Has Knox and Alexander going #10 and #11, Diallo barley making 1st round at #29. It projects nobody else on UK going in 1st 2 rounds. What do you think about that scenario of losing Knox, Alexander and Diallo and getting everyone else back?

If that's the case, UK is easily one of, if not the favorite next year. A lot will depend on who becomes THE alpha dog player.

Quade Green
Immanuel Quickley
Jamarl Baker
Tyler Herro
Keldon Johnson
P.J. Washington
Wenyen Gabriel
Jarred Vanderbilt
Nick Richards
Sasha Killeya-Jones

This would be barring nobody transfers and nobody else signs.

That's what I've been kinda foreseeing lately. Just those 3 leaving.

We would have an epic team. Great depth all around, Cal's best 3-point shooting team since he's been at UK, experience returning (Sweet 16 experience too).

Believe it would be best interest for Diallo to return. He will NOT get the mentorship and coaching that Cal has given him. Cal is Diallo number one fan, another year to improve his craft. Become the defensive hawk turnover to dunk machine he is. He found the role he can/will Excell at, shooting comes with reps, it will come. Also less expectations will force him to focus on skills that he will master resulting in top 15 to top ten for 2019 draft

Diallo could be a top 5 pick if he were to develop a jumpshot and learn to use his athleticism.

But he won't. He'll be Daniel Orton 2.0.

That's actually what I see happening with the possibility of Diallo coming back. I just feel Diallo hurt himself more this year by showing his glaring weaknesses.

I agree. Diallo finally figured it out at the end. A deeper run would have really showcased him and probably been an easy decision. Instead he sprains his ankle in a foul fest.

I still think it's more likely than not he goes. Just not the lock it was moving towards

Shai and Knox are the only two, IMO, that are even showing enough signs of NBA potential to even consider going. And if they are showing up lottery, they'd be crazy not to go.

Losing only those two and having no transfers, along with the signed class and maybe a couple of stragglers, and I'd be wildly excited for next season.

I'm not sure he really figured it out. Sure he had a nice game against Buffalo, as he should, but he kinda crapped the bed against K-State don't ya think? A whole 2 points with 5 fouls. He should've done the same thing against K-State as he did against Buffalo. It's not like K-State is all that talented. He won't make a second contract if he leaves after this year. Mark it down.

Suns are supposedly trying to figure out how to get Knox and SGA.
I would be in blue heaven...
Booker, Knox, SGA
Knight at. backup..,
Oops, Ulis would be let go :(...
He maybe chopped anyway. Interim coach really gave him a chance at starting and Tyler choked it. Very sad

Diallo in the first round? What does a site that is actually respected say about that?

I think they could all do themselves a lot of good by coming back. Knox and SGA could climb higher and be better prepared to stay in the league.

Not sure how dominant we will be if we lose 3+ and Richards is depended on.

That (losing KK, SGA & HD) is actually what I expect as the most likely scenario. Although it's not much more likely than losing just KK & SGA, or losing all 3 of those + JV, all 3 of those + WG. I think there are probably 5-6 scenario's with a >10% chance of happening.
And I honestly doubt most of those kids know yet what they will do.

I agree with Aike. For me the Buffalo Diallo seems to be an anomaly. Where was that Diallo in any other games this past season....certainly could have used it in the KSU game. Sadly he didnt show. I've been a Diallo unbeliever. After KSU I am back to Diallo agnostic.

The 1980's Suns team thinks this would be one of the worst defensive teams ever. They would give up 120 ppg.

Booker has improved so much
There was an article 2 months ago about how his NBA peers voted him most improved defense of player
Jackson has improved greatly in the last month and half.
Now Criss and Bender... they suck

If Diallo announces he’s entering the draft doesn’t he have to go. A player can declare once to test waters but the 2nd time they must enter.

IMO he really on thrived against lower scale teams. When it came to SEC he was a no show majority of games.

He turned his ankle early in the KSU game on a rebound. Hindered his effectiveness

No, he didnt enter the draft last time. He pulled his name out at the required date.

10 players means we will be a little short on numbers next year but that is not necessarily bad. However if that team is to be a final 8 final 4 type team then 1) the three freshmen won't have to be great but they will have to be dependable contributors by the end of the year. 2) If vando does does come back he will have to actually play. We saw this year he can be impactful. But for some reason I just don't feel like he will be back. 3) nick richards has to play like he did through december the whole year. No reason why he cannot do that. He may never be able to catch the ball like we want him to but if he can reach his potential in defense and rebounding then that will be a huge gain.

More than anything i am intrigued by Cals incoming class and what he has so far in 2019. He seems to be focusing on players with ball skills and less on a team of power forwards. I love power forwards but you only need one or two not five or six. In keldon johnson and dj jefferies these are players who can shoot it and put it on the floor. If cal can keep jefferies away from memphis and add scottie lewis and add one of (hagans, maxey, lecque) and add some more to fill out the class then i think the 2019-20 year will be the next big year for uk basketball.

At the same time, we have 3 coming in. We have 2 more potentially on the radar. Cal's rosters have usually settled right in that range of about 10 guys expected to see minutes. Do the math. We will be fine regardless, but obvious I'm hoping for the most talented and experienced roster we can get. The experience part is huge. It would be great to have 6 or 7 guys who tasted this loss, back again next year.

Might be true but the NBA is much more intrigued with his upside offensively because he is 6’9 and can score in so many ways. The defense can come later.

Diallo has a very low basketball IQ and Cal wasn't able to count on him for most of the year. There are a number of plays during the year that still has me shaking my head. There was a play in the first half against K-State that he practically stopped defending his player on the weak side of the rim, turned his head toward the player and away from the play, and started yapping at him all while the ball clanged off the rim and a few feet from him. Luckily Alexander was close enough to go up and grab the rebound. This play and the play against Texas A&M at home where UK was up 3 with less than 10 seconds left in the game and Diallo left A&M's best shooter in the corner to go try and block a layup. The A&M guard kicked it out to the wide open player who luckily missed it. Diallo started running towards the other end of the court instead of trying to rebound. This type of mindset in game situations along with his limited skillset makes me want to see our newcomers like Johnson, Quickley, and Herro on the court.

Nope, they changed that two years ago... it used to be that they were only allowed to declare once and withdraw, but they changed the withdraw date to an earlier one, and did away with the one time rule.... players can declare for the draft as many times as they want and test the waters...as long as they withdraw by the set date...which I believe is in May now.

I would believe that if he didn't have 10 other games identical to the one against K-State. After so long it becomes the norm. I think he could be really good next year for us if he decides to use his athletic ability and drive to the rim. But in order to do that, he has to improve his jumpshot from the outside to open up driving lanes.
