I really hope this thread which has been a nice place to talk hoops isn’t overrun with everyone and their brother’s political opinion after what happened with the Bucks and Magic. It’s been fun actually getting to talk basketball but this thread has high lock potential lol

I just hope the lakers play. Lol.

People refusing to work wont change anything here and that is what the players don't understand. They are just hurting their league.

Yeah its from Milwaukee home state so they think its needed,I hope LeBron doesn't follow suite. This is a year which is starting to get worse by the day. Can anyone share some good news,Im feeling the NBA has had a good playoff so far but if they start this crazy stuff I'm going have a hard time finding the entertainment justifing the means.

Does Milwaukee have to forfeit or the nba giving them a pass which would make the gesture meaningless? It would be like the guy in Tunisia who set himself on fire for change using water instead of gasoline.

Not suggesting it will or necessarily should happen now but a general strike is a powerful way for a population to express it's refusal to accept a status quo and flex their collective economic muscle.
The only economic muscle that it will effect is there own, as their ratings keep plummeting.

The clippers have a lot of dirty players no doubt. And nothing like rich spoiled elitists athletes threatening to not go to work 🙄. I support the right to talk about it, albeit dont want the politics in it, and our right to change channel. If theu boycott their ratings will tank monumentally in my opinion.

Back to basketball and sad due to the world and the way the nba is run we cannot just talk that but rockets better win today my friend. Okc has surprised me these last 2 games.

Just listened to the Mad Dog in the car. He said that Clippers players were mad to be shown up by a 21 year old. He didnt go deeper, but he was close to saying it: how come its an issue when it's a white 21 year old? No one seemed to care when zion was going HAM some games, bodying players left and right.. no, when its Zion, different story, the league praises him, gives him playful noogies, swaps jerseys.. But Luka? We cant let that happen.

As for the boycotts.. absurd. This is going to hurt the viewership of a sport that, yes, is seeing some struggles lately, to my surprise. I stood up for the players when they wanted to wear jerseys and ****, that's fine. But boycotting? A police killing that appears to be by fairly by the book? The League stood on it's HEAD to give the players what they want. So what, where's the line? If a black criminal has just executed 7 babies, is it OK to shoot him then?

I mean, IDC that much, personally.. On the bright side, Westbrook just got another 2 days of rest and will likely play Friday.. and it also helps the Mavs get healthy (should they protest a game themselves). If a criminal has to get offed in the back in order for my Rockets to advance? No, I'm not above that.

Agreed but if your going to just play the games the next day like nothing then it has the same effect as the phrases written on the back of the jerseys, minimal. Just my opinion however.
And use your brain for a second, what's one of the biggest news items all over the internet now? NBA teams boycotting games over racial injustice/police brutality.

By the book to shoot an unarmed man in the back 7 times for trying to break up a fight? That's attempted murder dude.

The irony in all this is that once a week, some methed-out white kid named Travis or Clyde or whatever white-trash name you can come up with.. is getting riddled with bullets by cops in some Arizona trailer park.. but no one cares. Doesn't fit the narrative.

True although I think that’s unlikely. They’ll only hurt themselves. Their ratings are already tanking.
Yeah a lot of questions come from this . I mean realistically these guys would have to retire if this is the response to every cop killing that happens in America .

That's not how it went. Totally misconstrued. He had priors, they learned that when getting a call to apprehend him, he had, what appeared to be a knife, didn't comply, went to get something out of his car. Didn't listen. BLAM-O.

Would have happened to Kyle down in the central Florida, too.

And fewer and fewer people hearing this news care. my brain functions very satisfactorily. this “biggest news item” distances bball fans even further from the nba and the whiney millionaires who tell themselves that they actually work for a living.

Here's a good question: the protest for justice. What exactly do they have in mind as justice? And when do we go back to normal? There never has been since the beginning of mankind, nor ever will be in this age perfect justice. We have the best system in the world & its totally imperfect, with imperfect people involved. Injustices will occur. We learn from them, try to improve like we have been in this country for the last 70 years.

We don't stop life & commit acts of injustice in demand of justice. This movement has made things 1000% worse...not better. And the morons that think they have the answers thinks the solution is to be racist toward another color. Or to rid the streets of those sworn in to uphold the law. If they screw it up deal with the individual cops that screwed up...don't seek to abolish all of them.

And not every time a policeman shoots someone is it automatically wrong. When you resist arrest, fight cops etc...its a recipe for the situation to go south. So...deal with the situation if a cop was in the wrong, but makecsure they were in the wrong. Wait for all the evidence. Let's just admit, a lot of lawless people love this rioting & love the idea of no cops. Somehow that has become a virtue in this morally twisted & perverted society we call America.

BreakIng up a fight? You know the dude had the cops called on him for stealing a woman’s keys, had an active warrant, and an extensive history of violence.

Absurd how people WANT to go straight to race. That’s the problem.

Oh, so you mean like how Dylan Roof shot up a church and got taken to Burger King by the police after being arrested?

Or how the Boogaloo militia member in Konosha murdered two people and injured another then got thanked by the Konosha police and given water afterward?

We shouldn't be accepting that this happens so much in the US, period

If this movement has made things 1000% worse, then why have there been hundreds of police reforms enacted throughout America since the George Floyd murder? That's called progress.

That's a whole nother argument, one that I'm probably on the same side as you are. It seems police systems here need more work. I don't think many people would argue that.

But to keep making EVERY single cop-killing-black incident out to be racist is getting old. It's a boy who cried wolf scenario. And to see the "other side" (Liberals, media, athletes, hollywood, BLM) basically not give a **** about a black man murdering a 5-year old... not because the boy could be a threat, not because they were doing their job.. but just for no reason at all.. It's hard for me to care about these once-a-month cop killings of a criminal.
