Down goes the Lakers. I figured the Lakers would get swept, OKC is just that much younger, better, and tougher.

OKC vs. SAS or Minnesota in the west
Knicks vs. Detroit or Cleveland in the east

Who ya got ?

I still have OKC & the Knicks in the Finals

But I have enjoyed watching the Twolves and Cavs, both of those teams I've liked watching the past few years. Knicks have been amazing coming on lately. OKC is defending.

I'm not entirely sure San Antonio will get past the Twolves, but I think it would be a much better series if they get past 'em. So I am sticking with the Spurs to get to the western conference finals in a much anticipated matchup with the defending champs.

As for the East, I still think Cleveland can get past Detroit. I've had the Knicks and Celeveland from the get go. Clearly though, the Knicks are looking strong to be favored to get to the finals.

I'd love to see the finals come down to OKC and the Knicks, personally. I dunno who I'd end up wanting to win that one, wow. That would be a great finals this year, I think.
Does Bron retire? If not how many more you think he has left?

That is the question, will he retire this year? isn't it?

I'm thinking somehow the Lakers thread the needle and get everybody back on like, a one year contract and LeBron opts to stay since the Lakers can offer as much as anyone else out there, but the lure to play yet another season with his son there will be what will bring him back for at least another year.

I know he isn't big on having a farewell tour kinda season at any time, it wasn't this season, and I still see other old school guys playing out there. Unless his sciatica and that nagging ankle injury makes playing too difficult & it becomes too much physically for him, he still can certainly be a huge contributor for anyone, but playing with Doncic & Reeves with him as a contributor ... still gives his team a punchers chance to pull out one more title? Maybe that too, the Lakers still seem to check a lot of boxes for him.

Yeah I'd give it a 70 - 30 percent chance he returns rather than opts to retire this next year. And he will probably stay with LA. If they can make it work out for everyone.

I'd even go out on a limb and say he's good for 2 more years, tops. But beyond 2 more at the max, I think he'd be better off spending time with family at that point.

He's done enough, already, legacy wise, to talk about infinitum.

It's continuing to be an interesting off season all around this year, both in college and Pro as well...

As a Lakers fan I am ready for LeBron and his goofy kid to move on. The Lakers aren't winning anything that matters again until they reboot the roster all together IMO. LeBron is 2nd best all time to me but its over.

Well well, those Cavs didn't waste money bussing a bunch of fans to Motown, taking the 3 - 2 series lead and heading back to Cleveland ? Nope.

Harden misses only 2 free throws out of 33 the whole series, then 2 out of 4 in crunch time, but it doesn't matter.... They hung tough and withstood a very tough, able, and determined Detroit team to the brink. They got away from Harris and Cunningham made some critical errors and ... they simply lost the game, a critical game 5 - at home - and now go back to Cleveland on Friday for game 6.

Cavs first away game win in the playoffs this year.

Both looking more and more likely. Spurs and Cavs look to close it out. Personally, I thought it would be those final four.

ECF : Knicks - Cavs (Cavs lead series with Detroit 3 - 2 )
WCF : OKC - Spurs (Spurs lead series 3 - 2 with Timberwolves)

will it shake out like that - or can the Twolves and / or Pistons force a game 7 to stay alive and winner take all ?

will we get the OKC -Knick finals many of us thought we would get ?

stay tuned to the same cat time
same cat channel

Go Big Blue !

And seriously, how Cade Cunningham let Max Strus get that ball like that in that moment .... you just cannot allow that to happen. Whatta' moment. It was blink and miss it, it seemed.

But the Cavs made the adjustments to the adjustments the Pistons made and Harden and Mitchell was too much (once they stopped turning the ball over). Cunningham was asked rather a tad too much to do, honestly. and the critical mistakes at the end ... ouch.

I think the Cavs get the edge in the end because of Harden and Mitchell, period. Allen and Mobley, again.... just a bit too much for Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren ( not a good game at all ) and company. Max Strus just is gonna go get his, apparently.

All in all, an entertaining series. I'd love to see both conference semis go to 7 games and winner take all. That would be worthy of how all the teams have played. From a rather neutral viewpoint, it's most entertaining to see it go to game 7's. We all love game 7's, cmon..... You know the Knicks and the mighty Thundercats are saying go ahead - make it 7. So give us what we want !

I just don't wanna see anyone get hurt and it massively alter everything.

And as for the Spurs .... it's going to have to take OKC playing thier A+ game to beat those guys.

and who knows, the way the Knicks are playing, they might be title worthy already themselves. To think .... the huge SHIFT it would be to have an eastern conference team win the title in what was such a dominant year for the west....

just more food for thought

Harden has been more clutch in the last 50 hours than his entire previous 15 year career combined lol.
I've always liked him. Would be nice to see him get a ring. Just because everyone has said his style can't win. He's changed basketball as much as anybody in today's game. The entire game at every level has adopted his moves and step backs. He really doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Harden and the Cavs down by 15 in game 6, Jalen Duren finally making a big impact ... and someone other than Cade Cunningham is making it happen for the Pistons.

We look to be heading towards a game 7 in Detroit

6:07 4th quarter
Detroit 100
Cleveland 85

Cavs just picked a horrible time to slip and fall down.

Spurs look to close out later tonight

Sticking with my initial pick from the get go :

OKC in 7 over Spurs
Knicks in 7 vs. Cavs

OKC - Knicks : I'll stick with OKC in 7

It would be nice to see 3 more game sevens this year ! Enjoy !

Yeah I dont think the Knicks can beat OKC, even if they are playing some of the best basketball of anyone. OKC is just too deep and too talented. I think they have a better shot against San Antonio but only because of their inexperience. I think either team in the west ultimately beats the Knicks (if they advance).

However, if the Knicks can get this done in 5.. and the WCF is an absolutely blood bath, then who knows. Knicks might be able to steal a game. They have a lot of rest under them, I think a whole week. They just have to win 8 games.

That's a good point. I think the Knicks might even sweep the Cavs. 5 games there tops. I'm not a gambler on games. If I were I wouldn't know how to bet on OKC/SA. SA pretty much had their way with OKC in the regular season. But the playoffs are very different. That's most likely a 7 game series.

I don't think the Knicks can beat either one. Barring injury, that is. But injuries do happen. The Knick have been outkicking their coverage the last 8 games or so. Can they keep it going?

I think the Knicks play a lot like those Villanova teams and not just cause of Brunson and Hart. Very smart basketball, relying on skill as opposed to using athleticism to beat teams. I think thats how they'd have to pull it off: get out of the East early, let SAS/OKC wear down, and play smart basketball. Like those Nova teams, they almost play above their individual talents. Theyre hoopers first and athletes second.

Maybe the Brown hire is starting to pay off in the playoffs? It didn't seem that way most of the season. The Knicks have to play to their strengths which is scoring. Their best two players are Kat and Brunson. But they also happen to be the worst 2 defenders on the team. Thibs just tried to play lock down defense with them anyway. Brown is willing to let it fly with offense and just outscore people.

But OKC does both. Best team defense in the NBA. For SA they are just average on defense when Wemby is off the floor. They would be a far better matchup for the Knicks.

Agreed. It seems its sort of a rock/paper/scissors situation. I think spurs match up well with OKC. OkC matches up well against the Knicks. Knicks matchup well with Spurs.

The Mike Brown hire seems to be working. But also, no one has really gotten a big injury on the Knicks (knock on wood), hes been very fortunate there. Id argue when they lost Brunson and I think had a hobbled Randle a few seasons ago., they had almost as good of a chance to win the title. But one thing Brown fixed was actually using his bench unlike Thibs. Thats been huge for them.

Spurs/OKC is gonna be so much fun to watch.

That’s true. The story was Thibs wouldn’t play 9 guys in a baseball game. 😁

SA and Wemby look like they are in another level than everyone else.

If they win tonight they may win this series in 4 or 5 games

Which team? I think if SA wins then yeah.. okc is supposed to win this, especially with a key player out for SAS. Great game so far.

Wemby seems to be rattled by the physicality. Still a great performance but mind boggling that Caruso can impact him at all.
