Murphy @ Andrews

About every game against a decent team this year, Andrews has kind of started off slow. Andrews has killed about everybody they’ve played this year except for Mitchell and robbinsville, and even those two games wasn’t exactly close. So I think Andrews will roll past Murphy this week but next week and the week after that is when the games will get closer.

I agree they tend to start slow, and that might be the only chink in their armor. But the Mitchell and Robbinsville games were never in doubt. Andrews has done what they've had to do in every game so far. You can point to a bad quarter or maybe even a bad half, but you can't point to a bad 4 quarter game they've played this year, in my opinion.

Well said. What’s your prediction for this game?

Maybe this game will be like Murphy vs robbinsville last year. It's hard to beat a good team twice.

I’ve never seen such a disciplined high school team.
That will go a long way on Friday night. In games where Murphy has struggled this year, they've been very undisciplined. You can't give free yardage to a team like Andrews.
For Murphy to come out on top, they'll have to play their best football. They looked very strong vs Robbinsville, and if that team shows up then this could be very interesting. If not, then expect the same result as last time.
If I was betting money, I would put it on red. I doubt this group of seniors at AHS wants to go the rest of their lives knowing Murphy ended their dream season and for that reason, I say Andrews by 17.
But Murphy has nothing to lose, and that can be dangerous.
Hope there are 4,000 people there Friday either way!

The Murphy team that played a wounded Robbinsville team.? That could of had something to do with them looking so good. Was that the first start for Robbinsville backup QB?
Wounded Robbinsville? You don't think Murphy was wounded as well? Starting RB in Laney who is also a great defensive player, starting TE Will Johnson and one other starter as well. @mbdfan can help with that but c'mon now BK, quit sandbagging.

Did they get wounded the week before the game or did they have a 8 weeks to settle in? I think mbdfan will be able to see through them yeller glasses and admit that those two situations are different.
If you want to talk injuries I promise Robbinsville has had more.

I am not saying that Murphy played Robbinsville when the Knights were at the top of their game, (that game would def look different if played now) I was simply saying that was the last game Murphy played where they didn't give up 100+ yds in penalties. I agree Robbinsville was injured which definitely played a part in why Murphy looked so good, but that doesn't mean Murphy didn't look good lol.
Andrews played a beat-up Mitchell, doesn't take away from how Andrews looked in that game.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we all could say it was a mistake free game with no penalties and no one was dinged up and no one was out injured. A game where both teams gave it their all but one team came out a head. Those types of games are rare to none but I guarantee you us die hard fans would still find something to argue about. Lol. You got to love it

I believe you have mentioned time and time again, one starter out in 1A can make all the difference in the world. Pretty sure every team that late in the season is banged up its just who wants it more. That night, Murphy wanted it more.. Every team adjusts to injuries differently.

Andrews it's just a different animal this year, they make any good team look bad no matter if a team has injuries or not. A completely healthy Murphy or Robbinsville wouldn't beat Andrews at 100%. They are a mistake free, disciplined team on a mission this year and I hope they go all the way. They give the best chance of a SMC team winning state the way they are playing. Smash-mouth, physical, mountain football with an elite defense. Grant it, I hope Murphy wins tomorrow night as they would have to bring a game better then they played Robbinsville to do it. Lets hope for an injury free game for all games and best of luck to everyone!

I honestly doubt that there is a team left playing that isn't missing someone. That's just part of high school football. I hate it most for the senior kids that have been injured knowing they won't play for their team again. Robbinsville should have been the preseason pick this year because they are the defending SMC champs with alot of returning starter's. I still believe Andrews gets overlooked because of the size of the school and their history. Everyone is well aware that with being so small injuries could end their season at anytime. Good luck to the CATS! Let's keep it rolling and represent the valley well Friday. Andrews 28-6

Well the SMc coaches disagreed with you. And picked a healthy Robbinsville to 4 peat
So for the record you think that 2 month after injury is the same as one week. it's just who wants it more?
And to your point, Robbinsville came in 3rd.. keep in mind, according to max preps, Robbinsville has over 40 players on the roster. Injuries happen but it should be next man up mentality (which happen with murphy in stalcup) instead of make excuses and blame losses on injuries. Murphy was picked close to 4th in the conference but finished 2nd.. preseason is just that, preseason. In college football, Tennessee wasn't even ranked in the preseason but look at them now.

And just an FYI, it was one month after injuries, not two months. And Murphy played with a "next-man-up" mentality. They didn't make excuses when losing to fannin county, they took the loss and then went undefeated in conference till they met the animal of Andrews.

Not trying to stir a pot here, just simply saying don't make excuses for losses. Man up and move on to the next one and get better which robbinsville has done, which murphy did and any good team should.

Best of luck the rest of the playoffs!

Spot on ! Weaver played most of the Mitchell game with a broke thumb. He went on to play in a cast the next 5 weeks setting out one entire game. He had very limited touches on offense for six weeks. We also had another starter with a broke hand, couple of bad ankles but we didn’t dwell on it because it comes with the game. Reading most all the weekly posts the majority of teams have had injuries but you have to keep playing.
