This was inevitable given the actions of the court clerk. Egregious conduct on her part.

He'll still be found guilty again but it will be another huge financial cost to the citizens of South Carolina. He's never leaving prison due to the sentences in the financial crimes....maybe the State will offer and his attorneys will convince him to simply enter a No Contest plea. That would be the most economical result.

The court clerk screwed up big time. He got another trial but the evidence against him is still insurmountable. He’s not getting out of prison.

Any result - even something akin to 2nd Degree Murder or manslaughter that tacks 10-20 years onto his current sentence would suit me fine.

Agreed completely. But we both know optics (and the average prosecutorial mentality) won’t allow them to do a 2nd degree plea
Oh how the public and pundits (even certain podcasters) would scream about good ol’ boy politics and influence and the grave injustice even though it would save the state millions of dollars to end with the same result - a man spending the rest of his life in prison.

I’d also like to clarify that on one really outside of Colleton County/Beaufort are knew who this family was before this. I do have a friend who was in law school with Alex, however.
