His best play tonight was hustling back on D to steal the ball on a breakaway for Illinois, turning it into a 3 on our end. The future is so bright for this guy.
in his recent poor 3 games or so.. he would lose his man looking for that... was very obvious.. he's like a DB in football that tries to sneak a peak at the QB.. a bad habit.. unless it works.
He plays a very thoughtful game, otherwise. I have seen him sneak peaks on offense.. without the ball.. to plan what to do when he gets the ball.. then comes a no-look. Very nice..
and on D, I was watching a replay of an opposition big man score down low and PM noticing that he brought the ball down low on the rebound... you could see PM recognize this... then on subsequent bounds you'd see him trying to sneak closer to go strip it... he gave up an open 3 to his man before it worked.. but it did work eventually.. and that big man was not quite comfortable anymore going right back up with it.
He will be the floor general I have hoped to see lead Rutgers as a junior and senior. And that is what richthedentist refuses to see... but almost everyone else does see. Hell.. Geo Baker sees it and has said as much.
