Mama saysMaybe I'm old, or maybe it's the teacher in me, but holding kids back in HS just for sports seems really slimy.
Why?Stopped reading after this...
“When he transferred 30 miles from Colts Neck High to The Hun School...”
The track record of players who come out of there. Why?
He might have had that feeling I get when pressured buying a car. Nothing will get me running faster out of a dealership than that “ well I can’t promise you that car will still be here in 26 hours speech.” More than once I have ended up buying the same exact car somewhere else because of the now or never approach. Schiano was in a very tough spot though, trying to keep guys on the current team and building for the future within a matter of days after officially being hired.I found it bizarre that he claims he grew up as a big Rutgers fan.. and always thought he would end up there.. and then when Schiano offered him he didn't want to commit right away. Seems fishy. Best of luck.
car is a commodity. A college isn't and scholarships are limited. Not apples to apples. He might have had that feeling I get when pressured buying a car. Not if the car is a Honda Accord.car is a commodity. A college isn't and scholarships are limited. Not apples to apples.
I think he is describing the pressure tactic. Not the car vs scholarship.car is a commodity. A college isn't and scholarships are limited. Not apples to apples.
Place is garbage. Have produced barely any impact D1 players. The track record of players who come out of there.
Hasn’t been a Rutgers “friendly” place in the past.

It happens everywhere. Sometimes sports related, sometimes maturity/physical related.Actually at places like Lawrenceville, Peddie and Hun you also have kids held back who are not heavily involved in athletics.
Much better lately. The Tverdovs in football. Malachi Melton in football. Coach Owens has two at Rutgers-one plays softball and one plays baseball. Pretty sure there are some on one of the lacrosse and/or soccer teams. If he’s a Rutgers legacy ... our batting average with athletes who had some previous family connection with Rutgers is low. Very low. Sad to say.
He did not commit to Ash.If he washes out at MSU he will be begging Greg to take him back at RU.
He Committed to Ash but refuses to play for Greg?
OK, Pass.

I have never seen McCord play. I have seen plenty of Guarantano. Looking back, we didn’t miss out much not getting him. Is he better than Sit, yeah. Would he have gotten us to a bowl? Nope.—No matter the school, many kids do not want to go where the Dad, Mom, brother, third cousin once removed, etc. went. They want something different and want to create their own path. This is for all students, not just student-athletes.We probably don’t do any worse or better than other schools for legacy athletes.QB McCord to Ohio State, QB Guarantano to Tennessee.

Those schools accept post-graduates as well. They finish high school and need another year before heading off to college. Helps them get into better schools. But expensive as hell.
Seems obvious Schiano didn’t want him. You have to honor Ash’s commits, but there is a way of pretty much letting them know they aren’t necessarily wanted and should look elsewhere. They probably told him that in so many words. Schiano felt he had better options.
Sit is a better passer. He had time to throw and open players to throw to. That doesn’t make him better. More experienced yes.I have never seen McCord play. I have seen plenty of Guarantano.
