Wasn’t so much the CBS but the nickel/safety positions were awful.There was clearly something wrong schematically. It wasn’t JUST the DB’s lack of skill. There’s no way they just continuously got burned by #5 because they aren’t good enough. There was some sort of confusion that led to those busts.
Agree, the scheme was the problem. TV commentators kept commenting on how close to the line of scrimmage our safeties were playing. Secondary played quite well against the #1 team in the country until our second half "adjustment" to play soft at the corners.
