Marcus Simms is transferring. And it stinks. 3 years of production. All 3 with guys ahead of him in the pecking order. I would argue his ceiling was as high as any guy we've had since Kevin (Shelton, Ka'Ruan, Gary, Sills). Could have easily been looking at a 1300 yard 10+ touchdown season this year. Real shame.
But the question I want answered.. Is Simms the most significant transfer we've dealt with? I feel comfortable saying it is in the 15ish years I've been watching.
Maybe you could say Matt Jones is a big one because he was a starter, but he was a bad starter, tbh.
Adam Shuller? Better player than Jones, but probably a net positive getting him off the squad.
Lamonte McDougal? He's got potential. He's one to look out for.
Dustin Garrison and Andrew Buie were fine, but no where near as good or high of a ceiling as Simms.
Durante is a good option. The fact that he ran a 4.6 is absolutely baffling to me. He glided down field. Durante was good and a big loss, but I think Simms is better + I believe we went and got Sills back because he left.
Jordan Roberts could have undoubtedly been a productive back had he waited Devine out. But he's not in the same ball park as Simms.
Quinton Andrews is big. He was a good player who would have gotten better, but he may have been kicked off the team opposed to leaving.
Guys who have been at this longer than me, who's a pre-2002 name that I don't know. And maybe I'm missing someone from the last decade +.
