No morals he can Coach keep him away from young peopleI get it, I’ve never heard anyone say he was a good person but the guy can coach. IMO

Sorry. I didn't notice that someone had already posted the Georgetown meltdown. That is, for the personally, one of the most heart breaking losses in UK history. You are correct. I didn't include it probably because my mind, to this day, blocks that game out.
Tubby has always been my favorite. He was a great man and a great bench coach. He got hurt in recruiting because he wouldn’t lie to kids. Cal is also a great man in my opinion. And that goes a long way with me. 09-15 was so fun. His success was almost too easy and no one could keep up that level of winning. Pitino I never personally liked. Only Tubby can compete with him noon game coaching. But after Sutton, who I still think got a raw deal on the package, pitino was the right man for the job. Sutton was a great coach, but personal demons did him in. The loss to LSU hurt as bad as any loss outside of 2015. I was 8 in 78 so my memory of that team isn’t good. At that time my grandpa was my connection to watching UK. And he wasn’t a big fan of Hall.Care to elaborate on why you rate them that way?
Coach Hall was my Freshman Coach a fine man who succeeded a legend Coach RuppJock Sutherland had a 50,000 watt radio station, WHAS, to blast away at Joe Hall 5 nights a week. The press were constantly on Joe B's back.
But I liked Joe B because he never turned his back on the UK basketball program. He was a Kentuckian and he was loyal. He put the program first. Not Joe B and not NBA hotshot prospects. He could not control what the media was doing to poison fans. I never wavered in my respect for him and the way he left the program and went into retirement. He read a short statement on Cawood's post game show and left. Classy
I had a brother in law who hated Joe B and he would not talk to me because I refused to join in the hatred of the man.
Sorry. I didn't notice that someone had already posted the Georgetown meltdown.
I don’t know the truth. Just saying I remember hearing that.It makes no sense to believe that RP didn't play Anderson if he was capable of playing. Playing one on one in practice doesn't mean that he was capable of playing in a game. Hearing that he played one on one doesn't tell you the intensity of their play. This is utter nonsense.
So we actually can get an opinion from someone close to him. How do you think he was treated?Coach Hall was my Freshman Coach a fine man who succeeded a legend Coach Rupp
RIP
You are straight up lying. Derek wasn't healthy and RP did the right thing by not risking his long-term health. I don't think you even attempt to tell the truth.
I guarantee YOU are the minority. Every Kentucky fan I know wants Cal goneInternet amplifies the idiocy. You know that, or should. Most UK fans don't act like bed-wetting snowflakes but the one's that do make the rest of the fanbase look like idiots.
Players have said DA was killing it in practice. Pitino was too arrogant to play him. He thought they could win without him.I don’t know the truth. Just saying I remember hearing that.
100%. They beat arizona by 15 if he plays. On this one I would have to agree with Ed. That don't happen much but Derek Anderson was scrimmaging with the team and by Oscar Combs account and Anthony Epps they said DA look like the best player on the floor. On Oscar Combs podcast he talks about this. That Drs had cleared him and it was just up to DA and RP to decide whether he would go or not. DA wanted to play and RP had done painted himself in a corner by earlier saying that it was 0% chance and that if that was his son he wouldn't play him because he had a future ahead of him but RP uses it as an opportunity tmto look like he cared so much about the kid because nobody expected him to recover that fast and then so when he does Pitino already got the **** painted and almost finished except he stuck in the damn corner.
So it depends on what you guys are referring to as healthy but Derek Anderson could've played in that game and that is the only game I ever go over in my mind and say if DA played we win for certain. 100 we do! If we don't win the championship I don't rationale and talk myself into thinking we would won it all damn it if it weren't for COVID. I just don't. But 97 and DA is that one game that I do KNOW we win if he plays.
This was when they was out in San Jose I believe that DA played with them the first time and he was dunking and
could cut fine when he ran or come off screens. I been hearing similar stories for years but when Oscar Combs says it and Anthony Epps sitting there confirming it then it's hard to not believe and wonder.
Joe never let the fans or the media get to him He coached on his terms and retired the same waySo we actually can get an opinion from someone close to him. How do you think he was treated?
I hear what you are saying, but have you ever heard Derek Anderson say that he could have played? Only Derek and the coaching staff really knows. For anyone who has ever played sports, you know that it is highly unlikely that players would have kept that under wraps if there was any truth to it. As competitive as RP is, there is no way he would have not played him if he thought there was little chance of further injury. RP had as much to gain by that victory as any player or fan. Derek didn't play a between the injury game and the Arizona game.On this one I would have to agree with Ed. Loved that Pitino was coachKentucky fans of age know the greatest coach we ever had love for was Rick Pitino. The dominator.
The best that we ever had it was 93 through 98. Minus 94' lol.
He disgusted meLoved that Pitino was coach
But honestly couldn’t stand the man himself
Your own personal order. You pick the criteria.Love is subjective
In what way are we talking?
As people, as coaches? As ambassador’s of the program?
I didn't like him either, but there is no denying his college coaching skills. Had he stayed at UK, I think he would have gone down as one of the greatest of all time.Loved that Pitino was coach
But honestly couldn’t stand the man himself
I lived in Lexington then and his personal life was a joke around town.He disgusted me
His morals or lack of caught up with himI didn't like him either, but there is no denying his college coaching skills. Had he stayed at UK, I think he would have gone down as one of the greatest of all time.
I would a large sum of money if he were to be honest, and he could go back in time he would have never left LexingtonI didn't like him either, but there is no denying his college coaching skills. Had he stayed at UK, I think he would have gone down as one of the greatest.
Funny how fans over look that when you win.His morals or lack of caught up with him
If he disgusted you, surely the guy currently coaching disgusts you. The current guy is RP without a clue.He disgusted me
Ed are you responding to your own posts again? His morals or lack of caught up with him
No not in my mindIf he disgusted you, surely the guy currently coaching disgusts you. The current guy is RP without a clue.
I know it makes you feel good to post that. But I’ve had this account since 2004. When I’ve gotten a time out, I wait until it’s over and I don’t run and make new accounts like so many others do. Believe it, don’t believe it. Doesn’t matter to me.Ed are you responding to your own posts again?
Yep. Every season he would say we are going to be a "fast paste" team. Hawkins and the fake asthma. So Saul aka "Small College " would get more minutes. What sounds about right is that you have no clue what you are posting about. As for Tubby, he lied about keeping the tradition of the style of ball that RP was successful with. As much as I appreciated and respected Tubby, he dropped the ball with his style of play.
Yes actually DA has said he wanted to play. Go Google it. When he got in the game to shoot the tecs Clem Haskins recieved DA said he was hoping he would leave him out on floor and that he didn't wanna go back to the bench. Theys a bunch of stuff on this stuff if you just Google the right stuff and read interviews. Honestly. DA has said he wanted to play but he understood why RP didn't play him. DA is good about keeping stuff classy. He has a great attitude. I don't even know how to link articles on here or id send em to you. Pitino does want to win but back then he thought he could win with or without anyone person. He would've love to beat them and then said DA was hurt. Wat a coaching job. He came close too.I hear what you are saying, but have you ever heard Derek Anderson say that he could have played? Only Derek and the coaching staff really knows. Saul never missed a game due to injury and ranked high on UK’s all time assist and steals listYep. Every season he would say we are going to be a "fast paste" team. Hawkins and the fake asthma. So Saul aka "Small College " would get more minutes.
This is correct, Tubby could be 3, most everyone loved him as a person and coach up until he didn’t recruit anymore.Joe B
Rick
Cal
Tubby
Sutton
BCG
He will be in Naismith HOF write it downThis is correct, Tubby could be 3, most everyone loved him as a person and coach up until he didn’t recruit anymore.
Before leaving UK, what did RP do that is worse than the nonsense we experience from Cal? I don't recall RP blaming fans for his losses. I don't recall RP recruiting good players to ride the bench for no reasonable reason. No not in my mind
There is a difference between wanting to play and being able to play. More times than not, players want to play even when they shouldn't. It is not uncommon for players to require protection from themselves. You might be right, but it doesn't make any sense to me. Even if DA didn't talk about it, there are enough others who should have known. The fact that stories about that game started circulating after he left isn't surprising either.Yes actually DA has said he wanted to play. Go Google it. He protected him for the nbaThe Derek Anderson thing is silly to me.
It was Pitino's job to protect Derek Anderson in that situation. He did what he thought was best for the player. Sure, it would have been nice to have seen UK 3-peat, but it wasn't in the cards.
I had the pleasure of meeting both Joe B and TubbyYour own personal order. You pick the criteria.
Yes.. if he only plays let's say 7-8 mins each half for total of 15 mins I think that could've been enough to get it done pretty easy... idk about 15 but we coulda won and kept from going into OT. I mean you gotta add in the chemistry of him being out and coming back but ya got Allen Edwards sitting and could only go 6 mins.. Ido know itd be a complete different game with him. We foul out 4 guys. They shot 41 FTs, Simon **** 17 alone, and we shot 17 as a team!! I, for some reason thought Arizona was much better shooting the ball that night than they actually were. I just went back and looked and they wasn't as hot as I originally thought. 6-13 vs our 10-30 from 3 hurt us. And the main guy on Loots scouting reports was Mills. If itd been only been DA!100%. They beat arizona by 15 if he plays.
OK. Well I don't guess he wanted to play then. I just was going on a conversation of what the dude who some call the guru of UK basketball Oscar Combs and DA's roommate @ UK Anthony Epps said. They where around and the OG Oscar, who travelled with the team back then who has close to the same conversation with guys like Ralph Hacker, Cam Mills and they went out to a Dr visit in San Jose while playing in the tourney that year and that could be why you automatically see DA start dressing out was because something obviously happened that was different for him to be coming out in warm ups. You really shouldn't talk about yourself like that. Also, I suggest you refrain from constantly liking your own posts with your alt account.Internet amplifies the idiocy. You know that, or should.
