I see your point. No where did I say what he did was right. It wasn't, it was dumb, it was childish and it involved breaking laws. I am not excusing his behavior at all. What Im saying is his potential punishment (being labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life, and being kicked out of school) do not fit the crime. In my opinion.
The ONLY reason I bring up the 2 boys is to show that these boys allegedly assaulted/ raped a girl and they got a slap on the wrist. So I find it disturbing that many think Mos should be punished more severely than the 2 boys who actually committed the crime. This country is lacking common sense. I just hate to see a kids life destroyed because of it. Im not saying this because I care if he is on the team. From a team stand point we will be fine and he can be replaced.
The amount of confusion and misrepresenting of the events is amazing.
- The female did not originally press charges against the boys in the video. She stated that she just wanted to forget it happened and move on with her life. After Washington allegedly sent her the video, she decided to look into pursuing charges against the boys. -
- So there was no investigation conducted into an alleged sexual assault because she never said it was sexual assault.
- The boy who's phone was used to record and originally send the video was charged with child porn and sentenced for that crime. Since he was a minor, that penalty was less than it would be if he was a 40 year old man with a copy of that same video.
- Washington's charges are only related to the 2 boys because they produced the video in question. He has allegedly held on to the video for multiple years and allegedly used it as a weapon to harm the female. That is what he is charged with. Yes, he doesn't commit this crime if there was no video sent to him, but the charges and subsequent punishment of the two boys, is not at all relevent to what Washington is alleged to have done.
- The kid's life is on the verge of being destroyed because he made a series of poor decisions. He kept a video, he tried to make advances to the girl, when she said no, he got pissed and sent her a video, a video that he was told to delete 3 years ago. If he had just deleted the video, he isn't in this position. Period.
- I agree with JohnRossEwing in that we probably don't care about this if Washington was just a random dude from the San Jose area. But if Washington had chosen say Ohio St over Nebraska, and this story comes out, I would bet the number of posters who would be defending him, and saying the punishment doesn't fit the crime would be less than zero. Just think back to the Jameis Winston stuff at Florida St, every board outside of Tallahassee wanted that dude fried and the Seminole fans defended him or said, it's not that big of a deal
