Also how “other things” works. Chastise, belittle, name call anyone who disagrees with you to discredit them and the minions fall in line and peer pressure ppl to get in line.

human nature is to want to be accepted and not be ostracized. So if you can control the narrative of what is cool or accepted behavior most people will bend the knee and get in line.

I honestly haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about my guy.

You are not intelligent enough to be naive.

Go ahead and defend the comparison between Beard and Gillispie. Also defend the position that Calipari has out performed Beard over the last 5 years when considering program and resources.

Ah KL, never mind. Carry on with the pumping one liners.

Nice that you pick the last 5 years. Why not the last 10 years or does that not fit your agenda. Beard and Cal the last ten years.

My God people, it’s not that hard to do this.

Beard has been at Texas Tech since TWO THOUSAND SIXTEEN (2016). Since that time he has taken the doormat of the Big12 to an overtime away from winning a National title, and an elite 8. Texas Tech has little resources, no name, and no prestige. Calipari meanwhile has squandered away in that time and faired worse with 10 times the resources, the biggest name in college basketball, and far more opportunity.

Beard, all things considered, has destroyed Calipari in that time and it’s not close. Some of you can pump cal all you want but stop making **** up.

Completely ridiculous claim and you can’t defend a word of it. There’s two things those two have in common and the only reason you even say it.

1. Both coach and coached at Texas programs.
2. They’re white.

Do you know the difference in turning Texas tech into a household name and taking A&M to a sweet 16?

Do you know the difference in coming an overtime away from a nation title at the big12 doormat program and making one sweet 16 at A&M? He went to the elite 8 also, Gillispie? None.

These comments of yours really need to be checked by yourself before someone else does it. Don’t compare those two unless you can defend it, and you can’t. It’s quite possibly one of the worst comparisons I’ve ever seen someone make on this board in 20 years here.

Bead has out performed Calipari at Texas Tech, especially the last 5 years. You really need to think before you make these bizarre claims.
Chris Beard is 104-47 with a 68% win percentage in his four and a half years at tech. Gillispie was 70-26 with a 72% win percentage at A&M in 3 years. Beard lost 13 games last year and was in a 4 game losing streak before the year was cancelled. 13 freaking losses, with more coming.

You have his 5 year run as “better” than Cal’s because he did get to a title game, but he also didn’t win, and you’ve made it very clear that’s what matters. And I do agree with that. Fact is Cal wins more though. More tournament wins than any other coach since he’s been at UK. Made an elite 8 his last eligible year and had a top 10 team last year.

Beard had a Shaka Smart run and is a good young coach, but to replace Cal with him at this point is nonsensical at best. The bizarre/irrational claims are clearly coming from you, but I understand it, and I still like you as a poster. You’re a smart guy, but letting your emotions and disdain for Cal’s one and done system cloud your judgement. I’m not a fan of Cal. His style is not fun anymore. If you want him gone because of his style and arrogance or whatever, I get it. I really do. But ignoring his results and axing him now and throwing Beard in would be so, so reckless.

First, quit with the patronizing ********. I don’t need you to tell me how to behave, I understand this sport far more than you that’s obvious.

You’re moving goalpost around because you’re making no sense and you’re trying to find ground to win. It’s not going to happen.

Beard took over a doormat program and immediately turned them into a juggernaut. What he did at Texas tech in that short of time is something we’ve rarely seen in the history of college basketball. You comparing him to Gillispie makes me wonder if you’re able to think about this clearly at all. Saying it would be reckless to hire Beard is just an asinine statement. You do realize Beard has TT sitting at number 15 while you’re making a thread and pumping your chest over a 4-6 calipari team who started the year the worst EVER in the history of UK right? Please stop throwing comebacks and let these things sink in.

Also I’m not a title or bust guy, but Calipari is definitely going to be judged by his inability to win a second title.

Cal does NOT win more than Beard. Not since Beard has been at TT when you consider what he has to work with. What you’re trying to do is ignore the totality of the situation and argue as if Beard has been at Kansas or UNC. Their jobs are not equal. Beard has been far more impressive at TT than Cal had been at UK.

Your post comparing him to Gillispie is outright nonsense. I can’t debate you if this is all you have my guy.

Forget it, some of you are simply making yourselves look foolish by going down this road. Just say you understand that Beard might be a great up and comer but you want to stick with Cal for now. It’s far better than trying to twist reality and making yourself sound like you don’t understand how any of this works with these insane comparisons.

So Cal didn't take UK from the depths of misery. You must have forgot the Billy G years. Cal has won one title and made 4 final fours while Beard has made one. Quit making up crap to fit your agenda. You evidently know nothing about basketball.

Aren’t you still interested to know why I’m not comparing Beard at TT to Cal at UK over ten years? Or did you finally figure that out?

Beard has not had the time or the place to replicate what Cal has. Now don’t even get me started on your hypocrisy of Cals “10 year” record compared to everyone else. Remember? We can’t compare Cal to K because Cal has only been at UK 10 years, right? On the other hand I’m supposed to “be fair” and count Beards time at LITTLE ROCK to Cal at Kentucky? You guys...lol. Sometimes I can’t even figure out if you’re serious or jackin me around.

You can’t look at a guy like Beard and expect him to have 4 final fours already. He’s been D1 at a doormat for 5 friggin years and was an overtime away from a f’n national title. Followed that up with an elite 8 and now is sitting at number 15 in the country while your boy makes 10 million per year at the top program in the country sitting at 4-6 with the worst start in program history.

There are very few programs that would take Cal over Beard today. Not ten years ago, today.

You guys need to back out of the conversation.

Same could have been said about Billy G, Shaka, Marshall, and many others. It doesn’t always work out like you “think” it will with these guys. You’re clearly not as educated on college basketball as you say you are. Last I’ll respond to this lunacy. You’re off your rocker and no longer the respectable poster of yesteryear.

My guy, he’s sitting at number 15, has a title game (overtime away from a national title), elite 8, and going to have a great seed this year. He’s been D1 for 5 years. Your comparison was total crap and you should admit it if you had any grasp of the situation.

You need to back out of the conversation because all of the side remarks won’t make you right and you continue to make yourself look uninformed. I’m actually trying to help you.

I’m going to try one time to break this down for you before I go to bed, but I know it’s useless with you. You DO NOT know how that will translate when the bright lights of Kentucky hit his eyes. Coaches have nice stretches before tapering off. Look at Gregg Marshall. Look at Shaka. Look at Nolan Richardson, to an extent. This is all off the top of my head. I know there’s tons more. “Yea but it’s UK and he will have resources and all that”. Ok. Look at Billy G. Look at Shaka at Texas. Let’s give him time to marinate a bit and see if he’s ready in the future or if a better name pops up.

He’s not shown enough to be worth replacing the results of what Cal had accomplished in his time at UK YET. Maybe in time. You’re at the “I hate Cal. I don’t like his style regardless of results. I want a change” stage which is irrational with Cal fresh off OT away from a final 4 in his last tourney, and last years team being top 10.

It makes ZERO sense to make that move from a winning standpoint, and you can’t back that up with logical response, which is causing you to lash out and hit me with “I know more than you” crap. You’re being the guy that points fingers and spins things to fit your narrative while saying the same about the person you’re debating. 2/10.

You might not like the move DR, but the comparison you made is trash. Gillispie and Bears have nothing in common minus the states they coached in. You’re just moving around now because you don’t want to admit it. You need to think a little better than this. A simple “ yea it’s a bad comparison my bad” would do.

I have no problems if you think he couldn’t handle Kentucky, but the thing is that’s an opinion out of thin air. You have nothing to back that up, and the insinuation that he would be a terrible hire is merely opinion, because the evidence we have says it would actually be a good hire. At least from what we can tell.

I snapped back at you because I don’t need to be patronized by someone who’s clearly lacking in logic and reason when in a debate. All of the side “I think you’re this” or “ you used to be a better poster” won’t work with me. Just admit the comparison was stupid and move on.

Also Morg, I’d be prepared to make a gentleman’s agreement bet that Cal goes farther than Beard in the tourney THIS year.

Why would I care? Surely when Cal makes 10 million per year, is coaching at UK with the most resources, and has the best program recognition in America, he should do better than a “Gillispie” clone who can’t handle “bright lights” down at lowly Texas Tech right? Why would you even care that Cal could out do a bum like that?

As of right now Cal is still being out performed badly by Beard. Not a little buddy, badly. You need to accept - Beard has been better than Cal at a doormat program with no name recognition and no coaching pedigree since he became a D1 coach. I’ll say it again, your comparison is trash and just because you can’t admit it doesn’t make you right, and all of the shifting in the world won’t change that you believe something so incredibly false.

Why is it so hard to admit you’re just wrong? If you want to debate the personal life and ineptitude of Beards ability to handle UK we can, but you’re not going to do a Tokyo drift around your own asinine comments and come out on top. So quit.

You are so mean. SO mean. Lol. In all serious I didn’t realize you were dealing with covid stuff. Glad all is well. Not being patronizing either.

That being said, I knew you wouldn’t put your money where your mouth was, though. I mean we’re 4-6 and they’re ranked 15. If you can’t trust Beard in this current scenario, then how could you trust him at UK.

Point proven. You lose. You are the weakest link, goodbye.

Hey man atleast you owned it. Most wouldnt. We all wanted to believe they actually turned the corner but we should have known better. All the signs were there. People can argue that Cal is better than Beard or any other coach that we could go after. Cal’s numbers will be better. Cal will have a title, more final 4s, and more tournament wins. I don’t care. I’m ready for a change.

We lost to Duke by 40. The next year we lose at home to a team that won like 8 games. Now this. 6 years since a final 4 and 9 since his title. Reality is not pretty. He needs to reevaluate his process. And fast. I don’t want a knee jerk firing, but things are not looking up right now.

Im not a Cal apologist and never have been. I don’t want to fire him and hire a Gillespie, but if next year is not a top tier team (and there’s no reason to believe so at this point) I’m out on Cal and ready to take the risk. Ugh.

I’ve been right for going on 4 years. Calipari is toast at UK it’s a matter of time. People need to stop codling him and start holding him accountable for his actions. He’s robbing the university and making a mockery of this program. The day he pretended to change generational poverty is the day he should have been shown the door. I hate corrupt frauds and he is one. He’s suckered a lot of people.

Zaytoven deserves the real medal. He was on it before I was I just sympathized with his position when no one else would.

Dr you’re a good guy, but try listening once in a while.
