It is smart, there are tons of "those" fans that think the walk-on program is the key to something (not sure what that is yet) so this is like reading a Penthouse Forum letter for those fans.

I think he should just say "Eff it, you're right. Time for full blown panic. Please wear a helmet if you plan to go all out"

He did say 6 wins and a bowl would be a successful season, before the season started.

Sorry, didn’t mean to break up the mudslinging and panicking. Cary on.

If part of our blueprint is commiting to having the strongest walk-on program in the nation then stay the course!!

We do this thing right and we are bringing in kids that will run through the wall for this program and in the process, a few of the guys in each cycle are bound to have a strong impact.

The PR machine is in full gear. Of course, Frost is getting 5 years (likely 7) at least. But he still needs to do better with what he has. If not, he needs to do some evaluation of his staff. I hope he has a general idea where the problem lies.

I agree he hasn’t met expectations and needs to do better. Self reflection is a must. That being said, this quote echoes what Moos said in the preseason.

Whats he going to say? 'We suck by the way I'm firing Scott if he doesnt win x number of games' He has to be a politician here. If he says anything out of the ordinary it would hurt recruiting and cause speculation.

Is it even possible to hurt recruiting more than it has already been hurt by the failures on the field this year?

Moos is a very smart football guy. He understood very well where we were at roster wise and that this is a total rebuild. He TRIED to warn us before the season. Multiple former players TRIED to warn us that we weren't there yet. And yet some alarmists seem ready to throw in the towel. I will say that that the 3 losses by one score, are very disappointing. We're so close to a much better record but that wouldn't change the fact that we've still got a ways to go to get to where Frost and we want to be.

Moos played college football. He knows the task at hand that Frost has. Unlike many posters, Moos knows what he is talking about.

I've been saying the entire time that Frost is building the program from the soil up. That includes the walkon program, new facilities, a new strength and conditioning program, new schemes that he knows and believes in, stability, new culture, and eventually on the field success.

I don't want immediate success and then slide back down. I want things built right so long-term success is sustained for 2 plus decades.

Honestly, the Jucos we bring in now will help next year more than ANY true freshman.

That's the fact, Jack.

Walk ons are only useful if coached properly. Wasn't it Belt who returned the kick instead of fair catching it to conserve time and bring it to the 25?

My, how the goalposts have moved.

"The usual rule of thumb is year three. The places I’ve been before, we had to build and create everything that we already have here, so even three was a little bit early. It was four and sometimes five. But at Nebraska, depending on what the offense is, the defensive scheme, two and probably more realistically three."
— Bill Moos

“You’ve got Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh thinking, ‘We better put a little more into that Nebraska game coming up.’ And that’s the way we want it. They’re running a little bit scared right now. And they won’t admit it. We’ll leave that at that."

It's comforting to know the AD knows more about football than our HC. Because I don't know anybody that predicted this train wreck.

Yes we were "very close" to beating 2 and 3 win football teams. We are almost there.

Stupid comments like this fire me up. Is there any AD that is content on being in 8th or 9th place? Yes Moos, I get it we’re working to get better but guess what, so is everyone else. B10 money has brought in a lot of good staffs who are developing their team at a faster rate than ours.

It is easier to whine and cry than actually look at the challenges. It must be a stress free life to be that way as it requires zero mental lifting...

He's not just a smart football guy, he's a smart business guy. I don't know that his comment about 6 wins was as much about football as it was about business. He saw the hurricane of hype that was building and smartly tried to dial it back. What good would it do to say "heck yeah, we should run through the West this year," only to not have it happen. Coming off a four-win year, saying "six wins is good" was ok to say, even if people scratched their head at it. If they exceeded it, he can talk about how pleased he is, if they didn't, he can say "I told you this would take a little while." He is very opportunistic and good at what he does.

You are absolutely right that had we eeked out those games and were 7-2, anyone with 1/2 a brain would understand that things are still bad.

Too bad previous coaches didn’t create a walk on program. Must have been a UCF thing.

Stupid comment? What are you talking about? He's interviewed, a lot, what do you expect him to say? Of all the things being said, this is what fires you up? Weird.

I guess for me the honeymoon is over and I want to see us actually beat some bottom feeders rather than be the bottom feeder alongside Rutgers.

And I get it, he was asked the question and he answered it with swagger.

He’s come a long way from saying Ohio St and Michigan are running a little bit scared right now.

That was two major blow outs and 14 losses ago though.
