He should of went to Cloudland last year like he almost did. Cloudland would of maybe won it last year or at least would of beat South Pittsburgh to get to the finals.You got to admit there has been more Avery kids at Mitchell over the past few years. Not saying it’s bad. Parents have to do what they think is best.Well Mitchell gave Avery a 3 year starting QB so fair is fair
But jump ship? That's implying that Avery had a chance to go to the playoffs or something this year if he had just stayed.
I don't know the backstory of his transfer but I believe he has potential of playing at least small college especially with his kicking so it would be my guess that maybe he was thinking that he might get more notice and offers at more football minded school like Mitchell.
And how many Roan Mountain kids did Avery enjoy over the years? How many Old Fort kids played at Owen? How many Madison kids at North Buncombe? This is nothing new, and to call out an individual player is low. (Not you, the other guy). These are teenagers guys. Act like grown men
Avery had a few from Roan MTN but it’s usually is the other way. Remember my son could of went to Avery. I can’t blame kids and parents for doing what they think is best. Just don’t do what the Science Hill kid that was at Elizabethton for years then take out a player that you grew up with as a kid.

I was told yesterday that he's getting more attention than I even thought as a kicker while I was thinking at least a small college but the main school interested in him is LSU.
I don't know if he would have gotten more attention from colleges or not, but his decision to move had nothing to do with college and everything to do with "stacking the deck".
Good lord I had to look back on this one, I have to say Mountie you got a little to tore up over this one, dust it off this is for fun, mountain man is right being a little hurt the kid came to Mitchell his senior year, I honestly dont think we can win state with this years group but him and his family must have thought so I think they will be disappointed in the end
I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion myself. I saw nothing wrong with what was said. It is hard for a new coach to build a culture and a winner when kids leave. It’s easy to say it’s fine when they move to your school but when they move away it sucks. I think selfish and not loyal etc are true definitions of a kid leaving his teammates to go and win somewhere else instead of grinding it out with his brothers. We see it at every level of sports and it sickens me. It’s win at all costs
I know you understand it kids leaving to go to Reynolds and Asheville High, 8th grade is when you can make the move, after that you have to stick it out, that's what I told my son, he stuck it out I'm proud of him for it but I really wish he would have moved
I don't know I thought the same thing as far as LSU and I'll ask the next time I see him if I heard him right and not ASU but whomever it was he seemed very sure he's work on the team staff for a long time.
Thing is for whatever colleges are looking at him I with they'd give him some chances to kick a field goal like against Erwin with only time for one play at the end of the half they should have let kick one instead of going for the TD which they didn't get.
