Speaking of uniforms and the Great Checkerboard Debate... I like the checkerboard, just wish it was more subdued. Arch Kentucky across the chest and subdue the checkers and I can live with that. Just my two cents.

EDIT: and no black uniforms, unless it's in memoriam like in Mr. Bill's case.

Agree I liked the more classic understated ones best ones best. I miss the old trunks from 78 with the u and the k interlocked...
Yeah, we prefer the traditional ones over the newfangled ones. The more traditional, the better IMO. I really liked the 1997 ones. I also liked the 1996 denim ones as well. The wife, not so much. [laughing]

EDIT: Now 1978 was three years before I was even born lol

Copying UTs checkerboards was only a marginally better decision.
Pretty sure Stoll Field had checkerboard end zones before UT had them.

I think UK went back to checkerboard after Secretariat won the Triple Crown, somehow claiming the prized horse....even though Big Red was from Virginia.

The uniforms don't bother me either....I just hope Haarms ends up in one and we're back playing by Fall.

I like the uniforms back in the 70s and 80s when our football teams won 2-4 games each year. We got our brains bashed in but we look great doing it. Bring those uniforms back!!!!! I want to be reminded of our wonderful pass traditions.

Stoll Field, the stadium prior to Commonwealth, sported checkerboard end zones during the 1930 season. While Commonwealth Stadium never used the checkerboard patterns, the University of Kentucky originated the checkerboard look, not the University of Tennessee.
