I reject your statement of the facts. I have no idea if Mitch is greedy. It’s a stupid accusation from others who also don’t know. Mitch is not an exception. People who work in high money industries and run big organizations get payments at retirement all of the time. So, definitely not an exception.
A lot of high paid people have deferred compensation written into their contracts and you hear nothing about it.

It isnt private donations. Its private funds, which was a specific term used for a specific reason because champions blue llc is a private entity.

Its literally the exact same thing. They just finessed the words to make it sound better. It worked because now everyone thinks its just a booster paying but its still coming from athletics. Just the new private llc version.
I hear what you're saying and you're right, that is an important distinction in wording. However, everything I have read online or heard from radio shows and podcasts have said private donations so far.

If what you're implying does in fact turn out to be the case, then yes, that's a horse of a very different color and completely unacceptable. Those private funds could and absolutely SHOULD go to worthwhile endeavors.

My stance remains if some private big wig chose to cut Mitch a check at Eli's behest, then it's his right to do so, and I think he's an idiot for doing it because it's a complete waste of money.

I agree with that last sentence completely but if a donor wants to give Mitch money, why doesn’t he just do it with zero connections to UK. Why does Mitch have to hang around for four years and why is the president out raising the money for him to do so?

General questions not directed at you.

I totally agree. Which is why I'm inclined to believe there's more to all of this than what we're being told, and that it isn't actually simply some random Joe Craft type cutting a check.

I just wish someone could force UKs hand here. Give the public a straightforward answer. Is this money 100% from private donors, or is it coming from "private funds" like @bigblueinsanity (the real) is alleging.

I wholeheartedly agree with Alan Cutler's take....UKs stance is that these sweetheart deals are an industry standard/expectation. Well....so what? Just because others are doing it doesn't make it right. The UK counterargument will be that they have to do it to attract the next guy.

At some point someone just has to say "enough."

A lot of this is driven by anger or jealousy, IMO. The hyperbole thrown around often indicates more than just objective concern or reasoning.

It will take a public records request, which i guarantee the school is going to argue doesn't apply to their llc. I don't know the specifics, but i am going to guess the duty to produce records will apply but I am pretty sure this is a novel concept.

They will argue the hospital situation, but that indeed is a distinctly wholly owned but separate entity. All they did with this was move traditional university function into an llc.

This is exactly how you know it isn't being funded by a donor, at least in the traditional sense.

It is loosely donor funded because some donations go into the llc, which are being used to fund this buy out.

We all knew that was absolutely one of the main reasons they made that switch. The ability to obfuscate and weasel.

I may eventually get to the point I just quit following sports. The Reds and Bengals give me zero reason for blind loyalty. At some point, you have to actually win.

UK...well, not going to waste everyone time with a diatribe about the current state of college athletics. It's appalling.
