Too many crucial turnovers and penalties are the main culprits in my opinion.
I don't disagree, but maybe that is the difference between good teams and teams with losing records yr after yr. I think the fact that just because we played some ranked teams well - doesn't mean we are at the doorstep of greatness again. We play CLOSE to the level of our competition but usually lose by a few points. The elephant in the room is - our best win this yr = NW (a very poor team this yr). That is a sobering fact!
