Nobody that I know of let that Low T, granny bike riding, Prius driving putz in their head to begin with. Most know a Beta(non fish variety) when they see one.

My bad, I thought I kept seeing threads on this board where several posters keep bitching and moaning about Riley. His departure was a year and a half ago.

it was announced that Mike Riley has joined the Seattle XFL team as offensive coordinator. Jim Zorn in their head coach.

bah gawd!

I was shocked to see the XFL even still existed. Any conference where the cheerleaders are encouraged to date the players has my approval.

Right? Anyone who gets fired when they're not planning on getting fired is so dumb.
When a person who achieved little to no measurable success in college football somehow thinks they can restore a blue blood college football program back to national relevance - then yes, he is a special kind of stupid, along with the dolt that hired him. But, he took the money, like most selfish people do. Now he has to live with the embarrassing resume he is cobbling together in his golden years.

The best way to never repeat a mistake again is to never forget the disaster that brought your program to lows it had not seen in 50 years.

Are you being serious? Have you ever met a coach (or really anybody for that matter) that took a job, but believed they wouldn't do well at their new program?

It's not selfish taking money that was already agreed upon.

You respect Mikey. I (and most others) don’t. Everyone has different standards. Some set theirs much lower than others. I think you should aim a little higher, but if you are happy, who am I to judge?

I respect Mike Riley no different than I respect most people. As long as you're not an ******* then you'll have my respect. Not winning enough football games doesn't constitute as being an *******.

Sorry you respect someone like Pelini more than someone like Riley just because he won a few more football games.

Again, you are setting those standards too low. Bo’s accomplishments are as unimpressive as Mike’s.

I remember this one guy in college. He had flunked out of school and just kind of hung around us and would go to the bars, etc. Every few months, he was leaving town and we would have a 'Gary's last night' drunkfest at his favorite bar. Thirty years later, I imagine he's still working that one. He had nothing else going for him.
Thank you for the laugh

What are you going to do when the next Pelini, Callahan, and Solich/Pederson threads pop up before the end of the month? Winking

Again, I don't base my respect of a coach just off the number of wins they have. Fine if you do.
Just because it is Sunday night and I have a headache.....allow me to be contrary. I don't respect surgeons by how many successful surgeries they do and don't ask when I meet one because I think it would be rude. However, when I needed my hand fixed I did research to find the guy who had a lot of "wins". Respect is one thing, hiring a guy to do a job is another.

As it turned out after my hand exam he ran my insurance card while I looked at his office pictures including a framed "Best Surgeons In America" article from an airline mag and a framed article about him from some other mag. He informed me he would require an "additional substantial copay" beyond what I would pay him with the insurance copay. But what the heck, I wasn't going to pinch pennies when it came to my hand.

So says the ultimate Smiling Mike apologist.

Pelini, with all his problems, still won wayyyyy more games than your losing career hero.

I love how
what do folks think of the XFL's extra point conversion rules?

The one-point conversion will have the ball placed at the two-yard line, the two-point conversion will have the ball placed at the five-yard line and the three-point conversion will have the ball placed at the 10-yard line.
Sure I'll respond to my own question... I think the XFL's extra point conversion rules are SWELL
