So referees are less apt to call a foul out of fear they are going to be yelled at?

I like the strategy of having a program treat everyone, including officials with respect. If you believe in karma it will pay dividends down the road.

There was a college football analysis done a while back (that I can't seem to find a link to) that seemed to indicate that officials were less likely to make calls against a team close to that team's sideline between the 25 yard lines, and inferred it was because they didn't want to get an earful from the coach. They were more likely to make calls against a team when they didn't have to stand near that team's coach afterward.

Bobby Knight has had officials admit after they retired they sometimes tried to placate him. He wasn't an everyday guy though.

Coach Rice is just publicly Tweeting what every Grassroots/AAU/Travel Team and many HS Coach is saying privately.
I don’t get Rice’s math (or grammar). Are HS recruits not being signed? And, if that is his point, is that due to the extra year of eligibility given players already on NCAA teams due to covid or is it due to transfers of players who, regardless of their transfer, would have already been on NCAA rosters, just different ones?

Yes, normally there are quite a few high school kids who sign in the spring. This year the number of those type of signees appear to have dropped.

Between normal grad transfers, super senior transfers and transfers who can play immediately, due to the rule change, some HS kids who decided to wait until the spring to commit are in a pickel.

The other thing that all these transfers are doing is changing the number of scholarships that teams will have available in 2022.

It is fascinating, to me at least.
