Pulling for the guy, think he can get this mess to 5-7 they should give him the job
Yeah let's give the job to someone with a losing record. LMAOPulling for the guy, think he can get this mess to 5-7 they should give him the job
Indiana is 3-0. They have a good QB transfer from Missouri (Connor Bazelak). So, even that game might be a toss-up at this point. I don’t see more than a total of 3 wins this season for an identical record like last year 3-9.I don't see how we win another game with this defense. Maybe Indiana.
Also don't forget his brother Vance was a Broncos head coach and could potentially be brought onto the staff.Based on the list of supposed coaching targets, I'm becoming more in favor of giving the reins to Mickey as long as he can surround himself with the right staff. I'm so underwhelmed by the list of target coaches and at least we know Mickey is a great recruiter.
I can’t disagree. Outside of a guy like Urban or Leipold or maybe Aranda or maybe Rhule. Everyone else I’d have huge question marks.Based on the list of supposed coaching targets, I'm becoming more in favor of giving the reins to Mickey as long as he can surround himself with the right staff. Don’t forget his cousin Terry Joesph. Excellent recruiter and coach down @ UT. Coached @ NU for a secondAlso don't forget his brother Vance was a Broncos head coach and could potentially be brought onto the staff.
Fix the problems in the secondary, you will fix a lot of the problems on the D.I don't see how we win another game with this defense. Maybe Indiana.
I think Campbell is an 8-5 kinda guy. Not that is necessarily bad by itself, I just think he has a ceiling.I think Campbell has fewer questions than any of those guys, minus Urban
Our front 7 is an issue...The back end isn't great but the front 7 is abysmal. Outside of going to a 4 man front and moving them on every play, I don't know how one fixes it.Fix the problems in the secondary, you will fix a lot of the problems on the D.
Fewer than Aranda ?I think Campbell has fewer questions than any of those guys, minus Urban
They'll both be auditioning for the job on Saturday, lol.Fewer than Aranda ?
Looking forward to the matchup between them Saturday.
Not good enough, although if your right and he gets the job, I won't be sad.Pulling for the guy, think he can get this mess to 5-7 they should give him the job
Vance has a pretty good looking resume … just sayingAlso don't forget his brother Vance was a Broncos head coach and could potentially be brought onto the staff.
I believe that Vance wants another shot as an NFL head coach. I doubt that he would leave his current position with the Cardinals to take a coordinator position with a college team. But I guess you never know. Also don't forget his brother Vance was a Broncos head coach and could potentially be brought onto the staff.
I would be in favor of something like that, if we can’t get the sure fire home run. But keep it smart. Trev can tell Mickey, here’s your dream shot so make the most of it by hiring the best guys out there. And as such we have to give you a 3 year deal only that will certainly be extended if things go well.Based on the list of supposed coaching targets, I'm becoming more in favor of giving the reins to Mickey as long as he can surround himself with the right staff. 8-5 and losses to Iowa most years.I think Campbell is an 8-5 kinda guy. Not that is necessarily bad by itself, I just think he has a ceiling.
I dream of the day we have a coach that someone wants to poach…Fact of the matter is, most of these guys have ceilings and most likely none of them include OSU or Bama level of sustained success except Urb.
Problem with Urb is, you'll pay out the nose for him, you'll probably get him for 3 years, you'll have a bowl season, a 9-10 win type of season, and then probably a really good season with a playoff type of run, and then he'll bounce. People are already spouting about, he'll fix the culture, he'll bring us back to relevance, he'll just hand it off. You don't just hand off that level of sustained success. He hasn't done it, and very few schools in the history of CFB have done it when replacing a once in a generation type of coach.
I don't want Campbell but he'd stay awhile. Fickell was abysmal at OSU but is thriving at a smaller school, and doesn't even appear on our AD's radar. O'Brien isn't sexy but probably would get us back to respectable, but I think he'd bounce in a few years for the NFL if given the chance. I also don't want him. (I'm not super enamored with any of the supposed front runners).
I agree with dingle, of the names mentioned I think Leipold ticks the most boxes. He's a known program builder, has NU ties, coaches in the midwest, and has a track record of winning whereever he goes. He also isn't like to be a build and bounce guy. Whether he can perform at a school like NU remains to be seen, but that's not uncommon to any of the candidates basically.
I dream of the day we have a coach that someone wants to poach…
dgaf personally if Urb bounces after making a playoff run here… it would be worth it for sure
I’m not saying Campbell is the guy but after a build a perennial 8-9 win coach will bank Trev a lot of paychecks. You win 8 or 9 and we will conjure up all kind of scenarios about how next year is the year. Rinse and repeat and before you know it that coach has been here a decade plus. Hell people did that with 3-5 win coach.8-5 and losses to Iowa most years.
Yah Campbell's the super safe hire. He's a palatable Bo Pelini that you can shuffle coordinators in and out for a good long time until "it happens". Trev would probably die in office.I’m not saying Campbell is the guy but after a build a perennial 8-9 win coach will bank Trev a lot of paychecks. We had a coach who won 9 or more games every year he was here. His name is Bo Pelini. He didn't last a decade despite winning at least 9 games a year.I’m not saying Campbell is the guy but after a build a perennial 8-9 win coach will bank Trev a lot of paychecks. Pelini lasted 7 years and was fired in part for behavioral issues .. at the time of his hire we were 4 years removed from consistent winning and a 10 win seasonWe had a coach who won 9 or more games every year he was here. really it might not take much to fix the defense...watching the middle of the feild it looks like there just 1 db ussually...the rest must be taking a coffee break...so we just need to get the 10 other guys on the feildI don't see how we win another game with this defense. Maybe Indiana.
campbell seems to get isu playing great, till they become the focus..then they lose a bit..till folks stop focusing on them...now at NU, could he get better recruits and hit higher highs now and then?Yah Campbell's the super safe hire. With Chin gone at least we have a chanceI don't see how we win another game with this defense. Maybe Indiana.
Busch needs to scrap Chins schemes. Hopefully we come out in something logical that Indiana hasn’t prepared for.really it might not take much to fix the defense...watching the middle of the feild it looks like there just 1 db ussually...the rest must be taking a coffee break...so we just need to get the 10 other guys on the feild
You can slap on whatever scheme you want. If players don’t line up the right way, make the right reads, take the right angles, put in 100% effort and tackle correctly, it is hopeless. The biggest adjustment that can made the next 2 weeks is between the ears.Busch needs to scrap Chins schemes. Hopefully we come out in something logical that Indiana hasn’t prepared for.
