What confuses me about this thread are the number of people saying MJ would do well at ASU and it would be a great fit for him.

Uhhh....

Why? Why would he do well at ASU and not Nebraska, which has more money and resources and is in a better conference?

Why could he somehow succeed at ASU but not NU? What am I missing here?
You're not missing anything. People just say idiotic things on this board. It's like thinking is some kind of superpower.

Someone will hire him based on what exactly? The promise of good recruiting?

I call total BS. No way after the Edwards debacle are they going to bring in someone who has never been a full time head coach or coordinator and who has a losing record as an interim. ASU just built a brand new facility a few years back. I could see them maybe being interested in Vance Joseph because of his NFL time and head coaching experience but I doubt that because of what happened with Herm. The hot young name is Kenny Dillingham Oregon’s offensive coordinator who has ties to the program.

Arizona St current AD is rumored to be on the hot seat although recently received a vote of confidence from the university president for whatever that is worth

this is the guy who fired a coach who had been to 5 bowls in 6 seasons including a couple of 10 win seasons

he cited that wasn’t good enough and went out and got his guy to take them to the next level …. Herm Edwards

they are going to let the guy who thought Herm Edwards was a good idea make the next hire and some here are feeling the pressure that Neb has to act because of what this ASU AD might be considering ?

Ray Anderson - ASU AD

First off Todd Graham wasn’t fired. He agreed to part ways with ASU

secondly Todd Graham was 18-20 in his last 3 seasons @ ASU. 2 of 3 were losing seasons and the last one he was 7-6, so not exactly amazing

and finally I don’t know why you are showing a picture of their AD. Seems like you are insinuating something here with his last hire and his interest in Mickey. that’s a real nothing burger. Keep in mind he did fire Edwards who basically went to a Bowl Game every year he was a HC and never had a losing season!!!

Arizona State on Sunday cut ties with Todd Graham, firing the sixth-year coach just hours after the bowl-eligible Sun Devils beat rival Arizona to wrap up the regular season.

In a news conference, Vice President of Athletics Ray Anderson thanked Graham for his efforts cleaning up the program off the field and in the classroom. But on the field he made it clear that Graham had fallen short of expectation.

“We want to compete for championships and we want to win consistently across the board in all of our sports,” Anderson said. “In football, we have not done that in the four years that I have been there. Not consistently. We have been average. (A record of) 7-5 and second place in a riddled Pac-12 South is not our aspiration. We deserve more.”

Nobody here has offered him a job. If Mickey is smart he will listen to offers. If anybody thinks he risk his future by turning down an offer to stay here, they are nuts

lol if anyone thinks the AD that's on the hot seat for the failed Herm Edwards experiment, is going to risk his job by hiring an interim coach with 2 wins....I have oceanfront property in Tempe to sell you.

He’s going to have some issues filling that job with a somewhat proven coach IMO. A coordinator hire seems likely or a fcs guy.

But, what does that mean for Nebraska?

Scott Frost is available. Had success in the Pac-12 as a coordinator. Wife is from Arizona.

It's going to be pretty funny watching this place burn to the ground when a coach is hired and it's not Mickey. I love the guy but some a you guys are acting like a toddler who was told he wasn't getting any candy in the checkout lane. You're just setting yourself up for a tantrum. Personally, I think this program could really benefit from a total reset with an entirely new crew. If Mickey stays great, but if he leaves I wish him luck.

Calling you out Harry Carey. Want to make another crack about Alcorn State?

Sure. Though maybe it was Alabama State, not Alcorn State.

But I can't blame Mickey's agent for calling ASU's search firm, to try and make it seem like another school is interested in his client. I don't think TA is dumb enough to fall for it, though.

I've been a witness, and fan, to 7 different Husker coaches, and Lord willing, I will be here for #8 rather its Mickey, Bob, Lane, or whoever.

I started my Husker interest by watching really good football, I'd like to end it that way.

The only hires I really hated were Callahan and Riley. Like a lot of guys, I always felt if Callahan had lost Cosgrove, NU had a chance to be a helluva good program.

Other than that, I was willing to give them a chance to prove their worth.
