That’s my point my friend. Our schedule is better than last years easily. It was lower in 2016 because SEC was down. This is best SEC has been, and we play Duke, Kansas and UNC OOC. You stated we’d be lucky to be top 40. Like I said you are either clueless or have an agenda. It’s simple to see.
Except for the fact it’s exact type of schedule UK has played the past few years if you look it up.

Last year's first 7 and final kenpom

Utah Valley 92
Vermont 76
KU 9
Harvard 141
Troy 177
Fort Wayne 165
UIC 182

Those look higher than this years.

If Cal was to retire in the next two years ... I wouldn’t mind getting Beilein

Umm... Beilein will be like 68 years old in two years. So I don't think that's ever gonna happen.

What would make you think Cal would retire first?

Check out the far right column, remaining strength of schedule. UK is 19. If there were no movement amongst teams, it'd be hard to get into the top 20, let alone the top 10, starting out at 300+.

To say UK will end in the top 10, you're assuming the teams on their schedule get better over the season, while the teams ahead of UK have their opponents get worse.

Sway stats?
I kinda strength of schedule irrevelant after you base most of SEC opponents we play with. The issue is scheduling cupcakes early in the season pretty much up until mid December. I understand Cal wants to keep the moral up start of season, but we need to get back into tourneys or playing tougher opponents early on. Many loses start of season don't mean squat. UNC will be way much better prepared to play us in December than we do them or visa versa to Louisville

Didn't Matthews have some type of injury last year of H.S. or during the summer that seemed to lower his ranking, and got him off to a slow start at UK?

No. But it does to Kenpom. I was simply asking a question, since non-con SOS on Kenpom for KY is usually in the top 50's. Also, I know that Calipari doesn't schedule, the AD does. Why so sensitive?

I like the KenPom numbers. I'm sure there's a **** ton that goes into them.

That said, I'm skeptical of the non-conf SOS on there.

It has Northeastern as having the number 16 non-conf SOS. Not Northwestern, but Northeastern.

It has St. Francis PA (whoever the hell that is) at number 2 non-conf SOS.

KenPom's SOS ratings right now are for games already played. St. Francis ranks #2 because they have played UNC, Virginia Tech, Buffalo, and UCLA. Their only game outside the top 50 right now was against Morgan State (technically they played a D2 school but those don't count in KenPom rankings in any way).

Northeastern has played 5 games against top 100 competition already so their SOS is also high.

Those SOS ratings will change over the year as teams play tougher or easier games remaining on their schedule. Kentucky currently rates low by that measure by Duke is the only top 100 team the Cats have played and North Dakota, VMI, Tennessee State, and Monmouth are all terrible. As the tougher games filter in, their SOS rating will increase.

That's a good breakdown. I thought the non-con SOS also incorporated future non-con games based on those team's current Kenpom rating, not strictly historical games already played.

Is this the latest trend? HOF coaches feeling sorry for themselves. First Cal, now Roy.

This is classic Roy. As a KU fan we were growing more than tired of his act. I didn't watch the press-conference, but typically he takes a veiled swipe at the effort of one or more players as well.

Roy is a scumbag just like his mentor Dean Smyth. Can't stand any of the UNC scum. King Rice was the player that Deano promised would get a degree to his father if he stayed at UNC. Now we know what a total joke it was.

He is also known to take swipes at players who spurned his sorry azz and went to a better school.
