Also the refs protect players like Dickerson (similar to Garza). Makes me hate guys like that even more.
Was saying this all game. Every time him or a Garza like player gets close to the rim, it’s an automatic foul call. Makes in incredibly frustrating to defend. But I also think it’s why the BIG10 struggles in the tournament so much. The token bigs don’t get the same calls in the dance.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Michigan wouldn’t shake hands. All eyes were on the Michigan jackass who erupted and I think the adults in the room on both sides intended to keep the teams separated.

Plenty of immature Rutgers fans were as irate as the Michigan kid. Fans cursing players is weak. Not a good look for either side.

As for Dickinson showboating after made baskets, our guys do too. Is part of the game these days.
Wrong, there is celebrating and then there is taunting. Dickinson was taunting the crowd. Much different then a bow and arrow celly

For a team that hasnt proven anything yet (RU) there is definitely too much showboating after made baskets. The reason Geo and Ron have their full scholarship are to make those baskets. Humble success is the best success.
I dont like showboating either. But to say we havent proven anything is ridiculous. This group went to the NCAA Tournament last year and would have gone if it had been played the year before.

thats what it looked like in the youtube video - looked like 1/2 of the Michigan team was lined up to shake hands while the other 1/2 of their team had to control the child having a temper tantrum 30+ feet away. and as you say, looked like the coaches decided to forego the handshake to keep things calm.
Nope, Brandon knight was actually chewing out the Michigan coaching staff

I saw Brandon and one UM assistant coach jawing at each other. I don't know if it was Martelli though as he looked much thinner and younger.

There is a difference between showboating and having fun imo.

Our kids were having fun tonight. Their gestures and celebrations were harmless and pretty much directed toward the home crowd or their teammates.

couldnt disagree more. what you see through your scarlet glasses as celebrating is showboating and taunting the other player and team. there is no difference.

If a Michigan player did the same as us, you’d call it taunting. It’s a ‘look at me’ game nowadays. It’s what they all do. It’s super-sized ego.

The ‘act like you’ve been there before’ Leonard and Rice persona is ancient history.

It seems like a lot of opposing players like to taunt or gesture to our crowd. I think the reason is probably that we are a hostile fanbase and im sure there are things yelled. I'm not disrespectful or vulgar to players at football games...but I sit pretty close to the field and I definitely am loud and a little ridiculous sometimes with what I yell to refs, the other team, in general. Basketball I never get to sit low enough haha. But I bet you can hear it more clearly as a player inside the RAC

But its not a terrible thing that opposing players hate us enough to talk trash to us. Makes us more mad but hey, this is a hostile place to play and its getting a national rep. I'll take it.

As long as we are controlled and do not cross the line I am all for it. Nothing wrong with a little good natured razzing.

Yes. Obviously completely against throwing things, slurs, etc. And obviously any fan who touches or throws anything at a player needs to be charged and prosecuted imo.... I didn't mind the taunting to the kid today as he left since he was acting so nutts...but I would hope that didn't become a regular thing unless the game got dirty or chippy like tonight.

BTW I did scream at Franklin that he F'n sucked in the 2014 PSU game bc I was sitting right next to the tunnel then. He heard me, and kept jogging in. This was halftime. Actually made me feel like an idiot when I realized this a professional dude who then won. I still sometimes think about it and regret it. But fans are fans and words are just words. Its been going on for millenia haha.

I give Dickinson credit for overcoming some awkward gangliness being so tall and long. He still runs in an odd manner given the way he carries his right arm with an unorthodox motion. But he's made himself coordinated enough and is quite athletic to be able to excel at the game.

What was happening at the end. Looked like they were getting chippy with Caleb. Hands up at his head and then a nasty blind screen from Dickinson with zero time left?
I was in row 4 there and my daughter said a sub said something to Ron and Ron put up his hands and was like “what? U kidding me? Who r u ?” Then #14 start jaw jacking and then b Knight called him a few choice words and the kid lost it . Of course he gets tougher with 20 feet between them and 5 guys holding him back. I just kept telling him to learn how to dunk. Lol

Saw Dickinson shoving Cliff as well, but the refs didn’t as they were focused on the press in the backcourt.

if we are talking about the same sequence, Dickinson was trying to foul Cliff away from the ball to stop the clock and send Cliff to the line. Not a dirty play, but refs dont often call those fouls. they make you foul the guy with the ball to get the stoppage.

They are my second least favorite fanbase in this league.
They are PRIVILEGED PUSSIES who expect everyone to kiss their ***. F em.

Tonight, we beat them! Depsite some curious calls in the first half (fouls).

Although we are 1-14 all time, the Maze / Blew may have created a RIVAL with their last minute rough house style of play and bad sportsmanship: RUTGERS!

Michighan: welcome to New Jersety, home of the Scarlet Knights: NOW GET THE F' OUT OF HERE, and Take your pappered, over hyped ingrate all stars, fans and coaches with you!

Haha yeah but I’m not going to lie tho this Michigan team is going to be a menace in the next year or two.
There was a good debate on Reddit about this. The crux of the argument was whether Juwan Howard is a good game day coach and despite getting some very highly ranked players that there are huge holes in the roster. Also of note is that JW had his best season his first year with beileins players and have regressed every year since JW took over. it was a pretty interesting discussion. BTW the rest of the BIG seems to be happy we beat them.

I assume you know 'cause you were there?

as indicated clearly in my post - my observation was based on what one can see in the youtube video.

if you were indeed there, saw it with your own eyes/ ears, then I'll defer to you.

however, I'll also add that the two observations may not be mutually exclusive: 1/2 of the Michigan team could have been lined up for handshakes before the coaches decided not to do it to keep things calm AND at the same time B. Knight may have been chewing someone out.

Howard’s only in his third year . His best year was his second season. Two points away from the final 4 .

Yes, should've added I was there and 10 rows behind the whole thing. He was yelling at the michigan staff or a UM player.

Maybe you should table your opinions when all you have to go off is a 15 second video. Many of us saw what Michigan was doing and how much that team talked all night.

That's 2 shots and the ball you dingus. You can't foul off ball under 2 mins otherwise every team would be grabbing the worst free throw shooter on the court regardless if he had the ball or not.

Is he trying to hurt cliff? No. But he is definitely giving extra contact to cause problems. Don't feed me that BS that he was trying to "send him to the line"

When you are playing at home our players celebrate a good play much more than they do on the road.

Anything RU did during our Michigan game was acceptable as long as you are not doing it in the opponents face
And the situation is reversed when playing Michigan at their place
