I heard that there was an article in the SL this morning(I don't read it) that Micah Clark would be willing to be a DT if needed. Don't know how I feel about that but would moving Seymour back to defense be an option.
Although it was his first year at OT there were a lot of growing pains. Technique needs a lot of work..

DLine doesn't need the help as bad. Lewis is going to look just as bad as Laviano if he's constantly running for his life

See, I believe RU's OT's will be better at their position in the coming season than the DT's.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. It's up to Ash and the coaches anyway.

I would rather have a star OT but then again, if he has the burst needed to be a star DT, that wouldn't be so bad either. It would depend on how our young OT's progress this spring. I saw some growing pains with Seymour but also saw a lot of potential. He never should have been a starter with only a couple of months playing OT.
As for how bad the OL looked last year, keep in mind a few things. All of the experience was on the inside. Both OT's were young/inexperienced and not all that good. (disclaimer- young/inexperienced= not that good, not lack of talent) This caused the inside guys to have to cheat a little to try to help these guys out. The OC had no clue in regard to OL. He was a WR coach. Our OL coach was very young and never had been tasked to turn a pro-set OL into a power spread OL at this level. He couldn't turn to his OC for help because the OC was a WR coach. And the OC play design made the work of the OL very difficult and complicated. So many things. Kill will know how to help Blasik and we will see a huge improvement.
Sorry for the long post but it drives me crazy when the simple answer is not all that simple. And this happens often at OL. Easy to blame them because almost no one knows how to really grade them by sitting in the seats.

To be honest I think its time to bring back Seymour to the DL.

We are actually fine this season on the line. Its 2018 and beyond that we need serious help.

it is a tough choice when a player could excel on either offense or defense.... I would rather
have the offense opening holes, protecting the qb better......stay in a game by actually
putting points on the board.

My guess is he was moved because we were having serious issues at RT and we needed someone, anyone to stop somebody there. I mean wasn't Denman one of your favorite players?

I like where we'll be at offensive tackle. We could be very good there sooner rather than later. The inside though has to step up.

I don't know if Mike has the frame to add 50+ lbs. Pete was very good for us but was the definition of a typical GS DT- way undersized

I prefer we keep Tverdov at DE for the first couple of years at least... he should be able to handle 265-270 lbs. and maintain his quickness...brother was another underrated guy who used great technique to play inside...it's up to coach Parker now.

Our best OL was easily Tariq Cole last year. Seymour definitely had some growing pains. But it was mostly our inside guys who got blown up terribly by opposing DLs. Who plays guard and center this year besides Miller? And if they're worse than our inside guys last year then we're screwed.

Cole was decent for his first year and I expect him to get better but far far far from our best OL last year.

We need more help on OL. Cole, Miller, Applefield and Heeman are the only OL I feel are ready right now. Venesky is squat like Miller but maybe he can step in at center, Krimin has good potential but will only be second year, Seymour was not ready last year and hopefully learns quickly, Jackson and Taylor who knows. Clark is too light for 17 but may be forced into action. Wished we had gotten a JUCO or 5th year transfer or two.

Dude bordner is huge with a gigantic frame to fill out. He would have 0 trouble hitting 290-300. He would easily turn into one of the best DT's we've had in years. If JPO was effective against big ten competition then bordner certainly would be..And he'd probably have the chance to be bigger too

That wouldn't surprise me if he moves inside to DT. But we are robbing Peter to pay Paul. We need DE's and DT's. We haven't adequately addressed the DT position the last 2 years. You can't possibly deny that.
