Rhule is certainly not looking at him this way - he fully expects him to play on Sundays. Hopefully he’s right and we see him get better throughout the year.
That would be some kind of improvement but I’m here for it.

that was the point

you do know how jokes work, yes?

only took 2.5 months for you to get it
That was the point I realized that the reason you are always attacking people is because it's a defense mechanism so people don't challenge you and your Google research. You thought you could make yourself look a little smarter by throwing that comment in. It just exposed you instead.

It's ok dude. Everyone else here is just having casual discussions. It's an anonymous message board. Your wife isn't going to leave you if you are wrong. You won't lose your job. Relax a little.

imagine attempting to dissect a literal joke for 2.5 months and only coming up with this?

couldn't ever be me.

it's so obvious, guy. wake up.

also - very funny coming from the person who, when challenged, defaults to this false dissection instead of eating it. projection like you read about in this post.

once again I feel bad. you're clearly out of your element here.

No one on this site thinks it was a joke. You aren't a joking kind of guy and nothing about the sentence or your tone indicated it was a joke. Face it, you use this site to try and boost your ego. It's why you take everything so serious. Because this matters to you. No one else really cares.

starting a sentence with "imagine thinking..." is a literal meme, akin to "knock, knock"

LMAO

is there a kid's board this guy can sit at? just L after L around here.

Ive stayed out of the bickering but Ive seen you try to reference the sandhills statement numerous time to try to “catch” kong and I wanna give you some advice Im sure you dont want.

Youre trying too hard. Anyone unbiased would not read kongs statement as that he literally thinks sandhills grasses would go into the stadium or that turf grass is the same as grasses that grow in the sandhills. He was clearly using it as a tounge in cheek argument against people saying we’re too far north. You can debate wheter hes right or wrong (I think he’s right and the naysayers are wrong) but trying to slam him on this comment aint working.

Purdy cannot win us any games. I do think he can “not lose” us some of the games on our schedule, depending on opponent. He can go 12/19 for 130 yards and no picks against a few teams, but if we win with him it will only be because the team won and he was along for the ride.

I preferred smothers to purdy.

It's a clear example of a guy talking about stuff he knows nothing about and no way that was a joke. He was on another rant about grasses vs. turf and threw that in to further his argument. He was implying that because Nebraska has a lot of grassland that we can and should grow grasses in Memorial Stadium.

This is so sad.

“Imagine thinking…” is a literal joke opening. Wildly popular meme. Not a person on the planet who doesn’t recognize this.

Well, I guess except you.

Weird how I made fun of your comment in that thread and you didn't respond. You, the guy who comments on everything, let someone take a shot at you without a comeback. Has that ever happened before or again? You didn't respond because you knew you made a dumb comment.

Now it has evolved to the point where I half expect you to say you've been using that exact line in your standup routine.

Happens all the time

I probably couldn’t believe there was an adult dumb enough to take it as anything but what it was

Frankly, I still can’t believe it

He’s not been the backup for any games even when our top 2 QBs were injured. At the end of last year he was left home from an away game in favor of a walk on.

Honestly I hope he turns out to be great but I’ll wait until I see it.
I think you'll continue to hem and haw even if you do see it.

Geez us. You’re the one who has installed yourself as the president of the HH fan club. I’m fine with him being the #2 QB but I’ll believe it when I see him trot on to the field when Sims has an equipment issue.

you didn't believe it when Rhule released the official depth chart

you didn't believe it when it happened in the spring game

you don't believe it today when he's taking #2 reps

why would you believe it then?

I haven’t seen an “official” depth chart for our first game. Have you ? I seem to recall that Purdy was out almost the entire spring.

had heard a few people mention it in the past and if the only post to say Kong got it wrong was the post king reposted above - I’m kind of baffled why people would be making a deal about it. Agree 100% with what you said. I honestly thought it was a huge back and forth at some point but apparently not.

you recall incorrectly

he participated all spring and was full-go (took hits) from the first scrimmage through the spring game, in which he was 3rd string

Because I don't know any different, do you suppose it has to be both Sims and HH's physical presence? Maybe Rhule just has it that a smaller Purdy can't/won't stand up to the physical pounding our QB might take in running this offense?

Both Purdy and HH have holes in their game. I'm sure Sims does as well. As a coach, if my top guy goes down, would I rather have a microcosm of the starter or someone who has already been banged up during their career?

If Sims is declared unavailable for a game this year, would I rather have HH start and Purdy come off the bench, or the other way around? I'll take the guy who has taken fire in a real college game.

Like I've said, I'm giving Rhule and crew 1 1/2 years before I start second guessing their coaching decisions. I'm comfortable with whatever rotation at QB they come up with.

the physical tools are undeniable

Satterfield - "I would play my dog at quarterback if he took care of the ball"

those are 2 strikes against purdy, who is not nearly as statuesque as the top 2 QBs, and in his fairly extensive experience taking fire, turned the ball over a lot and has still yet to throw his first touchdown pass as a Husker

I do not and never will understand the "experience" argument, especially when that experience went from bad to worse

you either have it or you don't when the lights are brightest. as I've said a hundred and one times - give me the unknown quantity over the one we know doesn't have it

Couple things, even though Purdy has yet to throw a TD pass as a Husker, neither have Sims or HH.

My view that both Sims and HH are big guys and Purdy is not, is obvious. I have no point of fact that weighs in Rhule's decision.

I watched HH in the spring game. He was a turnover waiting to happen. Will he come out and play well or will he turn it over?
If he has the same pocket presence he had in the spring game, he will turn it over.

If Sims goes down, I will be hopeful they have cleaned up some of HH's shortcomings and he will take good care of the ball, the same holds true for Chubba.

Experience doesn't matter could only come from someone who has never coached real athletes before.

I happen to believe, and I know I'm right, a QB's overall game is a reflection of just how good the QB coach is. Chubba looked good at Florida State in the one game he started. Yes, pud opponent, but NU has some pud opponents too.

Mario sucked and so did Martinez, Smothers sucked under both Mario and Whipple. Chubba sucked under that coaching, or more likely, lack of coaching, since Casey was going to get all the snaps as the starter. We haven't had a serious QB coach for a long time.

Kong, in all honesty, its only gonna take us guys about 3 throws by Chubba to see if he has any additional arm strength or not.
The first time he needs to put some mustard on the ball, we will know.

Now we get to find out how good Satterfield is. By the looks of Rattler, he became a lot better QB at South Carolina than he ever was at OU.

in the 1 game purdy started at FSU, he threw 2 TD passes in the 4th quarter while down 35-9 to a 4-win NC State team. that pud opponent kicked the **** out of chubba-led FSU.

one was a broken play for 70 yards - nearly half the 181 he amassed over the course of the game. his other 14 completions went for 110 yards - in line with everything we've seen. zero juice.

I am saying experience does matter - it tells you who's got it and who doesn't

we just watched Chubba in the spring game throw floater after floater

Let's start with this:

You say that pud opponent, 4 win North Carolina State. That NC State team was 8-4.

What teams did pud NC State team lose to? #20 Va. Tech, # 14 N. Carolina, # 11 Miami (Fla), and Kentucky in Gator Bowl.
Nearly half of 181 isn't 70 yards, its only 38%. A little too much hyperbole.

Chubba was 15-23 for 181 yards and 2 TD's. He rushed 12 times for 54 yards.
IF, IF HH came into a game and finished with those stats, against a pretty decent 8-4 team, you would be orgasmic.

Trust but verify.

this is why I used the term "pud opponent". those were your words, not mine:

NC St were 4-3 at the time, and he started the game, wasn't called on in relief. it was over at the end of the 3rd quarter and he had 100 yards passing while leading his team to 9 points

he was called on in relief the week before and went 12-21 for 38(!) yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 5 Carries, -5 Yards

When I said pud I was actually referring to the UMass game that he played in, not the NC State game. Regarrdless if NC State was 4-3 at the time, they finished 8-4. NC State wasn't a 4-3 team. Who did they lose those 3 games to? 3 ranked teams.

In that Pitt game, Florida State was sacked 7 times and they lost 60 yards rushing. Maybe a bit of pressure? FSU only threw the ball 2 times in the 1st quarter and only 13 times in the first half.

So if HH comes in to relieve Sims and NU is getting drilled, do the stats that HH turns in, count?

Kong, we can do this crap all night long, or at least I can. lol

Look man, you're one of my favorite guys on here, so is dingle, you're both smart dudes and I think most of us realize that.

There's no question where you both stand in regards to HH and Chubba. HH has a ton of potential, but is unproven. We don't know how he will do when the heat is on. We've seen Chubba, and a lot of his play has not been inspiring. But, do we need to keep reminding everyone that some of us, myself included, think he has a subpar arm for the job?

I don't care who gets it done at QB for NU, I am as hungry as any NU fan for some winning football. I hope Sims excels and we get to watch both HH and Chubba perform this year. I'll be rooting for both of them.

To think that Chubba is gonna get in an game and just piss it away is the same mentality that us fans have had for 6 years. Man, we need to let **** go and give these kids a chance to redeem this program and get some respect.

I've dogged Benhart since I've been on this board for almost 2 years. I'm gonna give the kid a chance to shut my piehole this year, hopefully through some really improved play.

The negativity with the whole Frost debacle needs to be put in the rear view mirror. We want good football.
We almost deserve it.

Kong, do you not think you've made your point on those two topics by now?

I've bet some dead *** horses in my day, but this one is the Derby winner.

Let it go.
