Why would he leave Creighton for a no name - never been program?I heard from a Jay booster they lowballed him with their extension offer. Nebraska should come knocking. Let him bring half his roster and put Fred on his bike.

Will Wade would get dirty! Really dirty!Only way to have NU be competitive is to hire a winning legend that has run afoul of the law. Someone who has revived programs wherever they’ve been. But get ****** fingers eventually.
That last paragraph is a joke, right?? Find me one ISU fan that would rather have Hoiberg. McDermott didn't work there, but he's since found 10 + years of success at CU. Hoiberg fizzled in the NBA and has been laughably bad at Nebraska. What a terrible take.I follow ISU pretty closely. I am just aware of the comparison between the two coaches.
ISU fans wanted McDermott to work badly but it just wasn’t panning out. He had some amazing athletic talent at ISU with Craig Brackens, Wes Johnson, Diante Garrett, Mike Taylor - but his teams weren’t even competitive in most games. His teams would get worked up and down the floor. The prevailing thought was that McDermotts philosophy was not taking advantage of the physical talent that a high level conference gives him and his offensive sets were limiting production and athletic capabilities.
McDermotts 2009-2010 team was loaded with talent and they finished with a losing record and went 0.250 in conference. He was basically forced out after that. The following year with a completely overturned roster Hoiberg finished .500 and built a program that propelled him to coach of the Chicago Bulls.
Ask any ISU fan who they would rather have right now between McDermott and Hoiberg and it would be Hoiberg hands down, even with his performance at Nebraska and the Bulls. But I’m sure they are happier with Otz.
Dana Altman made that move the other way 26 years ago!KState job is now officially open.
you probably could have stopped here....That last paragraph is a joke, right?? Find me one ISU fan....

ive wondered at times how many decent to good coaches have been fired or let go by a new AD and I’d bet it’s more than we’d think. The other thing to remember: AD's like to hire their own guy. And while letting Mac walk would be insidiously stupid, he was a Bruce Rasmussen guy. He and Rass were TIGHT. #TimesChange
I cheer and follow ISU and where I live is mostly ISU fans. Hoiberg is still very popular. His impact at Nebraska has soured expectations but a good amount of people wanted him back after Prohm. Nobody was asking to give McDermott another shot. That last paragraph is a joke, right?? Find me one ISU fan that would rather have Hoiberg. It’s really not hard to understand why ISU fans would rather have Hoiberg. He has the highest win percentage of any ISU coach ever. McDermott has the worst win percentage of any coach there in the past 55 years.
They’re living in the past, then , if that’s they’re thinking. And not being reasonable. McDermott has proven that he can run a successful offense and recruit. Two vehicles Hoiberg had shown that he cannot. I get it. Hoiberg had success there as a player and is an icon there. But when it comes to coaching a team? Hoiberg ain’t in his class.I cheer and follow ISU and where I live is mostly ISU fans. Hoiberg is still very popular. You are right - Hoiberg is light years behind McDermott. They’re living in the past, then , if that’s they’re thinking. And not being reasonable. Whatever makes you feel good, homey. Not even close as he just got out of town before he was fired. McD made huge mistakes at ISU and FH got it turned around. McD is not cut out for a P5 job.

Seems like an average coach would finish in the middle of an average league. Mac keeps finishing in the upper half of a well above average league.McDermott is no more than average
Peterson turned UDubb into a playoff team. Washington is a much better football program than Nebraska at this point. McDermott would be an excellent get for you guys. I doubt it happens. I bet if he moves it would be for the Iowa job should it open up.I highly doubt he wins in the Big 10. He has a niche and needs to stay there. Kind of like everyone that leaves Boise in football. Stay where it is easy for you and you are a king.
Pederson is the exception and is a decent coach, but he was in the Pac 12. Agree to disagree on McDermott. He's done well at Creighton and should stay there. The conferences are two different animals. I'm not disagreeing he wouldn't be better than Fred, as pretty much any coach would be better than Fred at this point, but we have a great arena, great practice facility, some fan backing when they are competitive, etc. Nebraskans aren't looking for Championship basketball. We are looking to be a competitive team that is top half of the Big 10 and makes the tourney.Peterson turned UDubb into a playoff team. I don't think McDermott is a world-beater coach who could rescue a down-and-out Power 5 program, whether it's Nebraska, Georgia, Pitt or whoever. But his teams generally (last Saturday being an exception) know how to move the ball and move without the ball, which makes them both competitive and fun to watch.
Nebraska’s football program might be in flux right now, but worse than Washington? Debatable. Washington is a fledgling program and in as much transition as we are. To me, the only way McDermott leaves Creighton is if ever has a riff with their new AD. Otherwise, he’s created a nice culture there and going nowhere.Peterson turned UDubb into a playoff team. I keep thinking the same with Nebraska’s basketball program not sucking. But it never seems to happen.SOONER OR LATER his teams will suck
So you are sayinh Nebby is a top 10-15 job??? In what world?I like McDermott but he’s not accomplished enough, in my opinion, to land a top 10-15 job. With that being the case, why leave Creighton? Big East has a smokin’ TV deal and as long as NU athletics is a dumpster fire, Jays basketball is the biggest deal in town.
Our basketball fans delusional. About like our football fans for that matter.Yeah, I mean look how many national titles the B1G has produced in college basketball in the last 20 years. Big East only has 6 to the B1G’s zero
Do you have to be reminded of the B1G vs Big East challenge this past season?
Do you have any real data to back that up. Head to head, national championships won, etc.?The Big East isn't as tough of a conference as it is perceived to be
Did he ever say Nebraska was a top 10-15 program?? No where did he ever say that. He was talking about McDermott being a good enough coach to land a top coaching position. Is reading comprehension an issue in condiment country?? BTW…you can have your coach back if you’d like.So you are sayinh Nebby is a top 10-15 job??? In what world?
Hendrickson is ruining Creighton in all areas.Don’t think the AD is the problem. Fr. Hendrickson has not been super supportive of the Athletic Department since he came in as President.
Yeah but I wasn't just talking about the Nebraska job. Outside of a dozen or so premiere programs that aren't likely to hire McDermott anyway, there's really not much reason for him to leave Creighton. Jumping ship for Georgia, Pitt, Missouri, etc. wouldn't make sense either, even if they dangled a bit more money. So you are sayinh Nebby is a top 10-15 job??? In what world?

Why leave a job with no expectations and fans that show up because it is a social event.Yeah but I wasn't just talking about the Nebraska job. who got fired for going to Final Fours? Why leave a job with no expectations and fans that show up because it is a social event.
Jays are like the opposite of UCLA, where no one shows up and you get fired for going to final fours.
