McCord out?

Maybe we shouldn’t overreact to McCord’s decision? He left when he wasn’t guaranteed a start in a bowl game. He sounds a little bit like a *****. DR comes into the scene and coach says he isn’t guaranteeing anything as far as starting, and McCord moves on. Or any couple other dozen of possibilities
Yeah, he wanted assurance from OSU and now Nebraska that he'll be the starter in 2024. Get lost kid - you need to earn it on the field first kid

My guess is that everything was on track until McCord wanted a guarantee that he would be the starter in 2024. That probably worked for everyone UNTIL Raiola came into the picture and he wanted a guarantee that he could compete for the starting position in 2024. So Rhule could no longer give McCord that guarantee and it felt like to McCord OSU deja vu so he chose to look elsewhere.
The only thing this staff guarantees is that everyone has a chance to prove it in practice. McCord doesn't want competition.

I’m sure Jeff sims can corroborate this bit of fan fiction
Hindsight is 20/20, and absolutely not defending Sims because we all saw what he brought to the table, but he certainly looked the part. His skill set seemed to be more “starter” than the other two at the beginning of the season. When he was healed, Rhule stayed with HH for a reason. He gave us a shot, whereas a healthy Jeff Sims showed that he did not.

I’m guessing Rhule rolled with JS because he was brought in to be the starter. When that imploded, he made the necessary changes. Hoping he doesn’t do the same…

There are some who are pretty desperate for something - anything - positive that reinforces their blind support for our administration, staff and NIL

positive rumors around here are treated as canon while not so positive facts are brushed aside like daydreams

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s the root of some severe perception disparities

Not really. A true freshman qb is almost never ready right away. You tell him to wait his turn behind the guy who went 11-1. If Raiola is making demands, he doesn’t give a **** about this program, he's in it for himself.
You're losing it. You don't turn away DR.

What if the Raiola’s wanted assurances that McCord wasn’t being brought on board?

If people want to claim DR is in it for himself then so is McCord, JFC the IQ on this board sometimes.

You don't turn down the chance to get DR. At least he has skin in the game with his dad's legacy and Uncle a coach.

Sure, that’s possible. Not sure why people start there, but it’s possible. In which case, I think the coaches still did the right thing prioritizing DR over McCord.

Yeah if you're thinking long-term you have to go with the kid who is a #1 QB recruit and could be a 3-4 year starter, over one that only has one year left.

Sure it's possible Raiola leaves after a year or two, but being a Husker legacy probably makes that less likely. And if he does, oh well, just write a check for the next one.

I would think that DR wouldn't mind having a one-year guy like McCord come in as long as he could compete for playing time. More than one star player has had their career negatively affected because of being thrown into the fire before they were ready.

IF his NIL deal is anywhere near what rumor is he won’t go anywhere unless he lost the starting job.

If you got inside information that is what the Raiola’s did, then present it here or STFU.
I just indicated what they did. I don’t care what anybody is rated, incoming freshmen shouldn't be able to dictate ****. Let alone running off a guy who produced an 11-1 record this year.

Whatever, it's not my decision. Rhule made his bed.. and now he must lie in it.

And most are grateful for the decision if it means DR is a husker. Time will tell whether the move was the right one.

I think it was I was against Kyle McCord before Riola announced a visit then I was for McCord against Riola because of Danny K then I was against all three of them because they dissed Nebraska on account of Rhule and then them Joes called me a naughty and now I have been forced to defend my honor and knowledge against them sum beaches. :)

Raiola didn’t run anybody off. There’s been all kinds of speculation about why McCord decided to go elsewhere but if he was afraid of competing with a true freshman he needs to go somewhere else. One of the concerns I had about bringing in a one and done was what his expectations were and how that meshed with the team. The fact that he bailed on OSU due to some fan criticism doesn’t speak well of him. Good luck to him finding everything he expects.

Everyone keeps thinking McCord was afraid of DR is funny. I believe his visit was more for NIL than seeing campus. I think word probably got out how much we offered DR and McCord up’d his price. We couldn’t afford it so we walked. Rather throw more at an RB than a 2nd QB. McCord will never be as good as DR. Don’t get me wrong, would have loved to have him but DR could be our Julio Jones.
