Rhule did not bring mccord in just to tell him he's not welcome here

obviously.

that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

much more likely mccord came in and saw satterfield working on his morning coloring book and laughed his way back to the airport
The ONLY thing I can sort of see is that Matt knows DR is in and tried to wine and dine McCord, get him on campus, rub his dong a bit, hope that is enough...but of course, not promising him the staring job.

But that seems like a stretch. More than likely he came and just was not sold, it happens.

Maybe so… or maybe, MAYBE, Rhule and Co told him that DR just called and said he wants in, then McCord wasn’t promised a starting job. But that couldn’t be it… it’s because Satterfield is a goof.

Didn’t McCord see this before coming? If so, why come in the first place?

I’m hoping the staff is pretty damn confident that Raiola is a done deal, and also that Raiola is truly the generational talent they think he is.
When I think of a true freshman QB coming in and having success right away I think of an electric athlete that makes plays with his athleticism while he figures out how to actually play the position.rather than a pocket passer
Peyton Manning didn’t set the world on fire his freshman year despite having better surrounding talent

he was probably genuinely interested

and like BigFan said we just couldn't close him

all this "promised the job" nonsense is - while a fair conclusion seeing as that's exactly what Rhule did for Sims this time last year - preposterously overblown in my opinion

or at least I give the staff the benefit of the doubt enough to hope it is

I think it's also far more likely ol' Matty D's hasn't quite raised the funds some think he has

or he just didn't like what he saw/who he met

I think the most likely scenario is that McCord didn’t like the idea of the #1 QB recruit breathing down his neck for the starting job.

I think people ASSUME that a visit to campus means it is a done deal. But just like with buying a house, it might look great online and then you get to the house and check it out and it just doesn't feel like home. So you keep looking.

McCord probably wasn't guaranteed to be the starter. Rhule already knows that Raiola is in.

I think the NIL dollars had to be reallocated. There wasn’t the war chest to pay both McCord and Raiola and we chose Raiola

IMO we sacrificed the 2024 season with this choice

maybe another portal QB will be brought in to change my mind

Hope we can talk Howard into visiting. If not, there will be other decent quarterbacks in the portal after spring ball - and maybe even after the FCS payoffs.

We might have sacrificed a couple of wins by not getting McCord but that’s far from sacrificing the season. I thought it was too good to be true that we could get both McCord and Raiola.

Yes and also his teammate today made it sound like McCord was tired of being ripped by the OSU fan base. With Raiola here, how many games would McCord get before fans here were all over him? He surely didn’t know about the Raiola situation when he made his travel plans to Lincoln.

We desperately need a great qb coach to get Raiola ready — if, of course, he even comes here😀

I have no idea what is happening or if Raiola is a real possibility, but the idea of "sacrificing" 2024 is a bit risky.
We apparently have White back and most of the defense, and a manageable schedule next year.

There’s no way to spin this as a good thing. At best, McCord was scared off, at worst….and what I likely suspect, is the staff just sucks and McCord could smell that. It’s tiresome and the stakeholders of the program deserve far better.

"Sacrificing" the season is kind of extreme, don't you think? Sure, no double 5 stars, but having two five star qbs on the roster won't get you the results you need. It's what people want, but how are you going to guarantee a potential transfer job security if the new name in town is suddenly surging in the press?

We can take a gamble on the freshman and have him start right away, or develop him into taking over while having a seasoned transfer take the reigns. But that leads us back to McCord.

Cue the obligatory overthinking by the fan base in 3... 2... 1...

I'm not falling for this crystal ball ******** ever again. Whatever happens, so be it. Speculate all you want. From everything I have seen, DR is still commited to Georgia. I will believe it when I see him throwing the ball around at the spring game. Until then, like with the "Mccord is N" crap, I'm not believing a damn thing until names are on dotted lines.

I like this of course...but if DR is in, he needs to say it, so that he can start recruiting for NU
I suspect his buddies are well aware of what is going on. I’ve heard that we’re in contact with Bubba Baker.

Looks to me like they are recruiting at a pretty high level, but all of sudden they are bumbling idiots? Come on. Either the money changed to get Raiola or McCord wanted to be guaranteed the starting job and they couldn’t do it. Those are the most likely scenarios.

I think people just automatically assume Raiola is going to be a generational QB. I love Raiola and hope he is everything he is billed - but there are no guarantees
Regardless next year is going to be a struggle unless we we get an experienced competent QB in the portal

I agree. Confidently McCord thought he would be guaranteed the starting spot … which was obviously the case until DR popped his head in the door and threw the bones. McCord couldn’t get his guarantee so he bounced.

Still think DK should stick around and redshirt. He would likely get to compete and be a 2 year starter at least.

Is it possible McCord asked for a firm answer on who his QB coach was going to be and either he didn’t like the reply on who is coming or perhaps MR unable to confirm anything specific?

They passed on one of the top returning starting QB in the big ten as well as a 5 ⭐️ receiver in Fleming (if he and McCord were a package)

We may have reallocated a large amount of NIL to Raiola instead of McCord - Fleming etc
I was more excited for Flemming than anyone. Get some athletes in here that would attract a QB and see if top WR can actually succeed here. DR will be great but who the heck does he throw to? Feel like it’ll be 3 years of wasted talent. Still great as he’s a stud!!

If the news ended up being true I was going to lay off and give Rhule a bit of respect, but people like this you have to watch like a hawk. They have a veneer of success but no real accomplishments.
Matt will be devastated that internet douchebag won't give him respect
