The Tampa guy seemed to get this one started by bashing other fans.
he responded, he did not start the bashing
if people want to whine and cry about Cal that is fine, they just need to do it in one of the many whining threads instead of hijacking every thread

if you do not have the ability i will go back to the beginning of this thread and link the first shot fired that hijacked this thread

do you believe that the mods should clean the threads up so we can actually talk basketball?
do you think the constant bashing is going to help UK recruiting?

most of us on here are tired of the constant bashing and negativity on here
Are you serious? You think our fans are the problem with the recruiting? It couldn't possibly be the 80's offense our coach uses that makes guys like Givony laugh at Cal.

Who has caused the negativity?Maybe the guy who went 9-16 and lost in the first round.Put the anger at the person it should be on.

if you were a recruit and read the front page of this board would you pick UK?
sometimes you gotta look at yourself in the mirror and ask if you are part or becoming part of the problem

be truthful, before injuries our offensive was out and running, it was never the same after
there are things that Cal does that makes me wanna pull my hair out
but pre-injury offense is not one of them

the negativity has been an underlying thing since the day Cal got here and started bringing in OAD players
the only thing that kept it at bay was the fact he was winning

yes we have went through a bad stretch, it happens
what happens if he starts winning again
i can tell you what happens, all the Cal bashers will go silent until their next opportunity

I used to go to the Mickey D game every year when Cal was landing RSCI top 5 guys.

I stopped going the year after De'Aaron Fox's class when it became clear Cal's recruiting was taking a massive hit.

Dude you are in so much denial I have zero hope for you.We have a post in this thread with facts about their last seasons but you will never listen.
I just told you the facts of their last seasons
If you add up everything that is not facts. There was no 2020 tournament and there was a covid year in which players couldn't practice together. I know.. I know.. it happened. So I'll give you tubby winning that year but there's not another year of his last 4 that was as good as what we have been with cal.
2007 tubby 2022 cal..... Top 10 for at least 10 weeks to end the year . A top 5 team entering the tournament. Cals year was better
2006 tubby vs 2021 cal.... Tubby was better but very close. Both were horrific
2005 tubby vs 2020 cal. Cal Again... A top 5/6 team entering post season
2004 tubby vs 2019 cal. Cal lost by 1 pt to go to a final 4

Adding up partial years and act as if everything was equal is not how you compare.
You look at year by year scenarios.

Amazing. You think recruits read these message boards and care? Good grief.

You're probably one that follows a recruit on social media and sends the messages aren't you?

How nice you can throw out a record for a whole season.Oh I forgot only UK dealt with covid.
No but we were the only school that hadn't played together before. Yes that matters.

Yea ,if you want to compare the last 7 years of a coaching stint. Throw out both coaches worst .
I think you will see it doesn't get close to comparing. Just raining on your agenda

So I watched most of the game. I honestly didn’t think any of these guys jumped off the page. Did anyone see any superstars on the floor? Maybe Sharp is the star of this class if he stayed in it!!

then i don’t know, maybe stop trotting out teams that had never played together before.

he put himself in that position by assuming he could recreate 2011 and 2014 every year but now those are the exceptions rather than the rule and they have been for a while.

when you turn over your roster every year by recruiting nothing but kids you know have no intention of staying longer than a year or two then you accept the possibility of seasons like 2021 and 2013.

any way you slice it that’s on Cal.

Doesn't matter how embarrassing you think our coach is (even though I am pretty sure you're like 12 years old and don't remember the bad years with Tubby, BCG, Sutton, Joe B Hall, etc).

Our lives are so hard to have had a top-10 team all season, and 4 final fours, 4 more elite eights, 2 National Player of the Year award winners in the last 11 tournaments.
“Last 11.” All you to know. What about the last 7 years buddy?

I understand wanting to be positive. but you also have to be objective. when tubby had the #1 overall seed in 2004 and we lost in the second round he didn't get a pass. so why should we give cal a pass now? because of regular season success? that's all well and good but we're about success in the tourney and supposedly so is he. that's why the 2014 team is looked upon fondly even though that regular season was a nightmare. We haven't been to the final four in 7 years. It's time to start putting Cal's feet to the fire instead of just saying "oh well get em next year..."
I agree 10000000%

Well with 2 of the top 10 coming in again this yr it could be alot worse.
The fact that Duke is getting the top 3 again even with Coach K retiring is mind boggling.

AGAIN ... you are just giving 2020 to Cal without even mentioning what UK was in 2005 under Tubby. Let's review ... AGAIN, since you ignored/didn't respond to my last post. When you had ridiculously suggested "Cal by a landslide".

2019-2020 25-6, 15-3 SEC record. Final AP Regular Season Ranking #7, NCAA tournament cancelled

2004-2005 29-6, 14-2 SEC record. Final AP Regular Season ranking #4, 2 seed lost in double OT Elite Eight

2004 vs 2019 certainly UK performed better in the NCAA tournament which is important, but that UK team was a 1 seed that got upset in the 2nd round. So let's not act like it wasn't a really good team.

And the fact that you are saying 2021 vs 2006 was "very close", I mean GTFOH. 22-13 in 2006 was below expectations by Kentucky standards, but by no means is it even CLOSE to 9-16.

You're way out of your depth here. Not even close.

The three most impressive players to me were Lively (Duke), Whitehead (Duke), and Nick Smith Jr (Arkansas). I hate Duke with a passion, but Lively and Whitehead are going to be studs and their games compliment each other.

Yeah I am just hoping that K keeps his nose out of everything and that Scheyer has rookie struggles because depending on who they have come back they could be loaded again next year.

2005 was pretty close in hind sight. I still believe that Quickly was destined to become a tournament legend for us that year.

Yes 21 was worse but 2006 was pitiful aswell. 2006 practiced normally, the kids got to be kids and enjoy their lives. 2020 was a bunch of freshmen essentially playing AAU for an extended time frame

Just goes to show that a HOF coach leaving a program isn’t the end. But it’s harder if that HOF coach leaves the program in a mess.
We have no former players or assistants that can step in like this. Realistically you would be looking at a coach that's not accomplished much.
The only way I would be for him exiting would be Musselman

Maybe, maybe not. I think it hinged on Hagans not driving us off a cliff. I didn't like where we were headed going into that tournament and that's mainly because I had no idea what we were about to do with Ashton Hagans. That team was not in a good place at the end of the year and it was because of the PG. We'll just never know.

Thank you for admitting you were wrong. To say the 2019-2020 UK team was better than 2004-2005 "by a landslide" just showed such a fundamental misunderstanding of Tubby's last 4 years. It makes me think you just were too young to have followed Tubby's teams, maybe you just came along with Cal. I'm guessing you did.

So no accomplished coach would want to be the highest paid coach in the country with unlimited resources? I don’t believe that.
I believe there are some like Jay Wright that are happy where they are, and are at a stage in their career they don’t want to start over. But there are several that would take it.
It wouldn’t take much to achieve the results Cal has had in the last five years.

we as a fan base **** all over tubby because he had I think 3 consecutive seasons of double digit losses. "ten loss tubby"...but he never missed a tournament and never had a losing record. He had a steady ship but if that wasn't good enough then no way in hell can we say 9-16 and losing to 15 seeds in the first round is good enough when we're almost 10 years removed from our last final four.
