Which was pure luck. Melton behaved recklessly, and disciplining him is very appropriate.Except nobody got shot in the eye and was blinded causing life long financial burden.

Yes and he was suspended for 2 games . I am sure he’s sorry and it will never happen again blah blah. Now it’s time to get him back and go win football games .Which was pure luck. Melton behaved recklessly, and disciplining him is very appropriate.
That makes it ok? Result over intent?Except nobody got shot in the eye and was blinded causing life long financial burden.
What’s that based on?The part of the fan base that lives in over 55 communities never want to see him again. The part of the fan base that actually still has a pulse realizes this is just stupid
Only after you agree to have one of your loved ones receive a blood bruise welt on the small of their back while minding their own business and least expect it.Yes and he was suspended for 2 games . So basically the whole season. His court date isn't till early Nov. so you can count Wisconsin out and maybe Indiana too. He's been suspended from all team activities for two months now no way he plays at psu in one week back.No he is saying go with suspension until we know legal ramifications
Isn’t it pure assumption GS is waiting for any legal process, court date or things playing out?So basically the whole season. His court date isn't till early Nov. so you can count Wisconsin out and maybe Indiana too. He's been suspended from all team activities for two months now no way he plays at psu in one week back.
Ok so maybe the Maryland game after two weeks of practice and even still probably in spot duty cause he's only now practiced for two weeks after a two month layoff. So yea basically the whole season.
The punishment needs to fit the crime . Two games and two losses is enough punishment . If max hasn’t learned his lesson by now , he’s never gonna learn it.Only after you agree to have one of your loved ones receive a blood bruise welt on the small of their back while minding their own business and least expect it.
Winning means so much to you, I’m sure you’ll agree to this
I have no idea. But the idea of waiting till the courts to decide to me is insanely harsh. The kids never been in trouble before which means this will probably go to PTI , some probation and community service. Wait for the courts and he sees time in maybe one game this season, if we're lucky maybe a bowl game as well. That's the punishment many are asking for here.Isn’t it pure assumption GS is waiting for any legal process, court date or things playing out?
As head coach perhaps he considers himself the judge and jury.
I find it disturbing you liken this to a Chicago gangland tragedy. What's the proper punishment in your mind? Jail time, Kicked off the team, expulsion from school, public shaming?I find it disturbing that so many on here think that a drive by shooting with injuries is no big deal.
I don’t think people said it’s no big deal . I think honestly most fans don’t care what these “ kids” do during the week . We just want to have fun watching our team on Saturday . And winning is fun.I find it disturbing that so many on here think that a drive by shooting with injuries is no big deal.
No I don't. But it's certainly not a prank. If they weren't Rutger's football players you wouldn't be defending them.I find it disturbing you liken this to a Chicago gangland tragedy.
Or if one of the victims was their kid!No I don't. But it's certainly not a prank. If they weren't Rutger's football players you wouldn't be defending them.
If it happened to you, you would be suing them.
Other schools would allow them to play pending resolution. Presumed innocence and all that stuff. In the SEC they would play all year, because the court case -- magically -- wouldn't be heard until the spring. The players would be contrite and get two weeks detention. Two guys from Oregon just shot a guy in the face with a paint ball gun earlier this year. They were back on the field after a 3 week suspension and their case is still tied up in the courts. So you're saying we should go with the 9 game suspension or entire season?
But they are rutgers football players. And one of them is a damn good one. .No I don't. But it's certainly not a prank. If they weren't Rutger's football players you wouldn't be defending them.

Coach Kilmer PlumBut they are rutgers football players. And one of them is a damn good one. .
No it wasn't a prank but their intent clearly wasn't to kill or maim. If they weren't football players their life would go on as normal till the trial. What are you suspending them from? So I really don't get the point. No I don't. But it's certainly not a prank. If they weren't Rutger's football players you wouldn't be defending them.

A little different . Kilmer was a spoof on FNL and a hs coach. .Coach Kilmer Plum![]()
It's sad that you don't get the point. No it wasn't a prank but their intent clearly wasn't to kill or maim. If they weren't football players their life would go on as normal till the trial. What are you suspending them from? So I really don't get the point.
Sue for what a welt? Maybe I was brought up differently but my family weren't big on the suing thing. Would I want them to go to court, yes, if the prosecutor explained they've never been in trouble before and they recommend PTI I'd be fine with it. Maybe you are, but I'm not willing to destroy a kids life over a welt.
Huge difference between a kid paying to attend and breaking the law. Max is a scholarship athlete representing the university. Both can attend classes, Greg’s policy is you get yourself in to a legal situation you’re suspended from the team until it’s resolved. Bravo to him .. stupidity has consequencesSince both players are university students, I am sure there is a university process and procedure to deal with these type of incidents, would be interesting to know how the university's student conduct code would deal with a student in the same situation, would it be more lenient or more harsh. Not saying they wouldn't still end up in court but what would happen to a student prior to their court date are they still attending classes and living in university housing?
The content of his intestines. What’s that based on?
What's the point? Since they're high profile football players they should be burned at the stake? So we can say, we have a higher moral standard than others? In the quest to feel better about ourselves is that really fair? It's sad that you don't get the point.

Good post . Maybe the silver lining is that this can count as a redshirt tear for Melton . But I think the kid is good enough that he won’t be playing here for 6 years anyway and takes his talents to the next levelWhat's the point? Since they're high profile football players they should be burned at the stake? So we can say, we have a higher moral standard than others? Any other kid who has never been in trouble before this is goes to PTI he gets probation and community service. His life isn't altered till the trial, they're not ostracized from society after. But in the quest to feel morally superior board members want these guys crucified.
Just so you know I think these kids are done for the year. By time the trial/ PTI gets worked out and they're reinstated it'll be over two months since they last participated in any teams activities. At that point it's useless to bring them back. So the board members asking for crucifixion will get their way. Then we'll see if they come back next year or start somewhere else.
I'm not advocating that Melton be allowed to play this weekend, but result is absolutely factored into the punishment. That makes it ok? Result over intent?
A drive by shooting? At Rutgers? When did that happen?I find it disturbing that so many on here think that a drive by shooting with injuries is no big deal.
Burned at the stake?? What a drama queen!!What's the point? Since they're high profile football players they should be burned at the stake? So we can say, we have a higher moral standard than others? In the quest to feel better about ourselves is that really fair?

Seems to me purposefully and knowingly inflicting pain on random, unsuspecting students would get your *** thrown out of school. No it wasn't a prank but their intent clearly wasn't to kill or maim. Can you explain your mindset as to how inflicting pain on random student victims isn’t a big deal.Despite some in-fighting, I'm glad I created this thread. It looks like about 80% of you feel this is very serious and a 3 game suspension is not adequate. That's an eye opener for me.
Admittedly, I don't know much about paintball. I know participants where goggles and jackets but I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Obviously, I'm mistaken.
And for the record, I'm over 55.

That’s any student regardless if whether they play a sport or not.
Stealing a dollar out of another students gym locker got my brother expelled for MKA eons ago.
Lol
