I think both Melton and Long will get another chance to be part of the team, I don’t think it will be this season. Schiano will and should run the program that discourages bad behavior off the field. We’ve seen the consequences of it not being run that way. I think most RU alums don’t want to read headlines all over about how the entire defensive backfield was arrested after practice as we did not all that long ago.
Zap - Prior to my post, I was equating it more to hitting an unsuspecting victim with a snowball. Is it wrong? Yes. Should you be punished? Yes. Is it the worst thing most of us ever did? Probably not.
As I said, I appreciate the comments and perspective of the board which has changed my view of this.
This reminds me so much of when Plaxico shot himself. The Giants were rolling, and I think very well would have won another Super Bowl. He shoots himself, and everything changed, the wheels fell off.
The year can still be saved, if we beat MSU, but in so many ways, I feel that this paintball incident, will go down as the negative turning point of the season.

Imagine the stain if he’s reinstated now and is later tried and found guilty of agg. assault. Can’t assume the legal outcome will be minimal .
Even if GS wants him back sooner, his hands are tied for Rutgers PR reasons.

You should write Greg an email telling him your opinion on how HE is handling this.
I personally, find it morally correct. Greg is changing the culture here, one that has had more than one police incident in recent years. It’s called turning kids (a few not the majority by any stretch) that might not have had role models that taught them this stupid stuff isn’t funny.
You know making men out of them. Allowing exceptions to the rule causes gray areas and confusion Greg doesn’t need or want. Bravo

If our team's wins and losses are dependent on one delinquent coming back on the team then we don't have much of a team to begin with and don't deserve to win.

Winning at all costs should only be applied to life/death situations not a damn football game.
The football program is a vehicle for education. You are also educating these players on how to conduct the rest of their lives. Setting good values is key for a strong program going forward.

I wish Max could play but because we are not one of the big boys in college football and because today’s time of xxxxxx culture and being xxke it just is not going to happen especially at a NJ college in today’s climate. After there penalties are handed out in a court of law I would not be surprised depending on the outcome that they don’t end up in the transfer portal, I hope not but I could definitely see that happening.
