Every time I read an article saying something good about one of our three recruits for next year I remember that many RU fans were again ripping Pikiell and our recruiting class because they were not 4 or 5 stars. There was a huge thread on this and several not as long and some said we were really missing out and some again said Pikiell wasn't getting it done. We have too many negatoids who think they know everything. I respect and support Steve and will take his decisions over people who think they know everything about recruiting. Many said it would take 6 or 7 years to make RU a very good team. Before the season a few even said Steve should be on the hot seat. After we lost to the Bonnies quite a few said we were the same old Rutgers again. I was in Toronto and watched that game. Myles had 2 fouls in the first 80 seconds and Ron Harper had 3 in the first half. Things happen in games and teams have outstanding shooting nights. True fans would have been there but only about 40 RU fans were there and St. Bonnies which is only about 90 minutes away had a few thousand. It might have helped if a few of our fans had attended. Now we have so many people jumping on the bandwagon. Those of us who have stuck through the thick & thin like I have for 49 years are the ones who are really enjoying the ride. I am sorry I might be coming on too strong but I trust Steve so very much and I don't like all the negative comments about RU when we get upset in a game. It is a part of college basketball.

Great article, excited to get him on campus. We also, need to throw our hat in the Jalen Green sweepstake. He hasn't announcement his commitment, he might want to follow Mawok to Rutgers.

We lose Yeboah and Carter--but get three 6' 8 230 guys with skills, including at least one that likes to mix it up. Add an ever improving Myles to that mix, and you have a formidable group, even if Cliff O were to go elsewhere.

We’ll see. There are reasons for it, but our recruiting is way below our Big Ten peers. It matters. And you’re ripping RU fans for not going to a game in Toronto? God almighty.

I just watched the first five minutes of the first quarter and Mag was routinely beat off the dribble and threw up an Airball on a corner three. How good this class is is far from being decided. I am definitely on the side that says it is nowhere near good enough.

To move up in the B1G standings by winning some games on the road Rutgers needs a couple difference maker type recruits that are shooters. Its too early to predict how the 3 recruits for next season will perform.I'm hoping a portal transfer similar to Yeboah will be playing for Rutgers.

It is always good to evaluate someone's defense, just a couple of weeks after having their jaw wired shut after a vicious elbow that knocked out their front teeth and extensive dental work was done.....I mean, that's how I would evaluate scouting someone, I would take one 5 minutes of tape, not 3 to 6 or more months of evaluation to determine things.

In any event, moving towards what still isn't good enough recruiting, RU is in the top half of the B1G standings, with mostly underclassmen logging major minutes....with the majority of kids who supposedly aren't "good enough".

If we had landed the recruits fans here wanted based solely on rankings, we'd be closer to UConn, Syracuse, St John's and others who aren't going to the NCAAs.

Mag went for 16 points and 11 rebounds in this game. Also hits the three pointer to send it into overtime. The kid is the best defender on the court in this game imo. Covers bigs and gaurds. Hits all of his free throws.

Look to be fair I am not saying they don’t deserve ships. These three would be perfect complimentary recruits with two studs like a Cliff O and another top 150 guard or shooting forward. If this ends up being our three man class though it will hurt. Will reserve judgement until the final class is set.

Why is Cliff O a stud....???

Have you watched him play....he has no offense to speak of and is 100% upside.....he's an elite athlete and can run and dunk and erased mistakes on defense. He is not an impact player that you can throw the ball to and have him generate his own shot.

Cliff fits perfectly for how RU wants to play and would be able to play through his growing pains on offense, similar to Myles Johnson. The whole 150 thing is based on upside, not current ability as a basketball player.

Mag impacts RU much more in all phases of where RU is next year on the court. He's not a liability from 3 point range, and doesn't need to be hidden on defense. He also takes the burden off Mathis being asked to shut down the opponents best offensive guard, which is the biggest impact towards RU winning.

I would ask fans to watch games in reverse....who actually gets through screens, who contests shots, who is able to get their own offense off the dribble. Mag isn't a perfect player but sees the floor next year and is in the rotation ASAP, barring another unforeseen addition to the roster.

As much as Mulcahy hits the water mark as "Top 150", he has been exploited as a freshman on defense and his offense is a work in progress. Teams abandon running their offense at times, solely to isolate Mulcahy on defense. At least with Mag on the floor, you add another plus defender that can switch through screens to minimize the exposure by playing Mulcahy. He can guard both point and shooting guards and a wing.

It's funny how when the team is winning, Pikiell is great at locating under recruited talent and coaching them up.

Two game losing streak? The class is not that good.

LOL

Continues to be lots of complaining people who really have no clue on this board. Duke is one of our highest ranked recruits and pretty much nailed to the bench.....while guys ranked in the 300's are leading us. ...and yet we have a winning record and have had a chance to win almost every game we lost. We're not even 4 full seasons removed from a complete disaster of a program and in the hunt for an NCAA birth and these guys want to crucify Pike's recruiting class.

This class right now is not Big Ten caliber

It would be a so-so class for Monmouth if we are being honest

Case in point.

Imagine Pike’s coaching with 4 and 5 star athletes who defend AND shoot 3s AND hit free throws? You’re talking final four possibilities.

It's amazing how different sets of eyes see the same thing differently. While I have to admit that recruiting seems a bit lackluster I never am forgetful that we are Rutgers and it's going to take some luck and magic to get us to the promised Land.

Game for Mag junior year. This is prior to Prolific getting Jalen Greene this year, an NBA lottery pick, who dominates the games. Number 25 on Prolific is a McDonalds All-American and number 33 is Colman Hawkins, who RU wanted, but he chose Illinois. Mag is #3.
