Matt Rhule needs 5 years....

Coaches are turning programs around in one year. But, since it is Nebraska.. it will take 5. Excuses are for losers...And that is where we are at. Period. What a loser mentality. Once again, that is where we are at. Let's take a 9.25 million a year coach and build it up because that is the Hick Nebraska way. Learn the hard way, I guess..

Riley left a mess and Frost made it worse. So we are actually 8 years into this dumpster fire. And TCU was an easier rebuild. The previous few years were not great, but they have not been the total dumpster fire we are. Even with NIL money and transfer portals it will take Rhule two years in my view to really turn this around to where we are a consistent winning program with 9 wins at least expected every year.
Honestly, i don’t know how long it will take. Scott Frost did not leave the program at a good place. The portal helped his roster in his last year. Otherwise, the roster would have been really ugly For 2023. The University investment is the biggest, by any definition, in this sixth installment post Osborne. For Nebraska fans, a few things for possible positive movement forward quicker at any time since Osborne. The Nebraska NIL, ease of transferring and the brand new spanking facility of national leading football facilities.
But my gut tells me this is the best hire, Matt Rhule, that Nebraska has invested in since Hall of Famer Tom Osborne. The soon to be announced ten assistants and all the support staff have a lot of work over years to try to bring Nebraska back to national relevancy. The job is urgent and made more difficult with the additions of USC and UCLA in 2024.
I don’t know if Nebraska can ever be again in the real conversations in mid December as a national championship contender. But if we can win a conference championship, or finish in the top three or maybe four in the future, we will have a shot. When the college playoffs are expanded to 12 teams. It will be a long and arduous road ahead but the recent huge changes in major college football could be Nebraska positive difference-makers or not. GBR.

You nailed it. It comes down to these kids actually putting in the work. Put down your pipe, throw away the bag and get rid of your game console, it's time to go to work.

I mean, Frost supposedly got robbed and needed a decade. By that standard, Rhule gets around 300 years or so. Right?
Patterson had a couple down years but was incredibly consistent and had his team in conversation for winning the XII quite often. Frost couldnt even show up to work on time. It's a different situation. Having said that, theres no reason we can't be bowling in 2023. Playoffs? Dont talk about playoffs. You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game.
It’s to protect Trev in case his hire doesn’t pan out.
Same thing with Frost - gotta protect ex huskers even at the detriment of the program

Let’s see the spring game first. Think the team should be much more competitive with a singular plan top to bottom with everyone going the same way.
See 6 or 7 the first year and if the end of this class comes out as some project then the first year could be even better.
Competition amongst the top 2-3 each position is essential and hasn’t been there for a while with the Huskers. Depth will be great without overly deep rosters.

I will say Matt Rhule should get until year 2 and then after that nothing should be held back. Year 1s are extremely unreliable to show good a coach is going to be. Brady Hoke had a 11 win 1st year for example. Year 2 has to show major improvement and there is no excuse not getting to a bowl game+ in year 2.
